Episode 15 - The Hardest Part Is That You Love Me
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Beautiful Stories from Anonymous People
Chris uncontrollably laughing at the "sex coordinates" was pretty great. -
Great episode! That first story was insane and inspired a ton of great bits.

That ad was so great. I love how Scott went though the whole Paul thing, and then he was like "OK, I'm going to read the real ad copy now."

Episode 64 - Knott's Scary Farm: Live from Largo

Any time he does an Uncle Ruckus-adjacent voice, I get irrationally excited. -
Scott was struggling to come up with a band it sounded like and eventually pulled That Dog, but it seemed like a pretty clear (and very impressive) Dinosaur Jr. knock-off.

Fantastic! These two are so good together. A particularly funny Traci segment, too. -
Episode 11 - Punch Those D's, America! (w/ Alison Rich, Pam Murphy, Dan Black)

Mark breaking down and saying "Look like human" might be my new favorite moment in the history of this great Nation. -
Episode 14 - Jack Mormon

Very interesting episode. Maybe Chris felt like it would have been over-stepping to ask about this, but the one big thing that I was still left wondering was how the caller really feels about his family. There was an over-riding theme that he was sort of faking his way through everything and that doing something more creatively fulfilling is his light at the end of the tunnel, and he also talked about being married and having kids mainly in the context of it being the motivator for having a safety net career, as if it's more of an obligation than anything. I would have felt a lot better about his situation if he had just spoken a little more warmly about them and expressed that his motivation to provide for them is more out of love than obligation. -
This Austin bunch of episodes are all pretty funny, but man, there is absolutely nothing going on and no sense of premise or format whatsoever.

Episode 63 - A Coffee Plantation in Bali: Live from SXSW
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
For a Spont rookie, that was some EXPERT use of the flash forward effect by Drew to avoid having to do something (sing the long "tomorrow" song). Super fun episode! -
For a while, I was worried that there wouldn't be any discussion of directions in Southern California. As soon as they started doing "People on the street!" from Under Pressure, I was sure that Scott was going to connect it to the Billy on the Street song, so the wait made it that much sweeter.

Great job by Randy interviewing the kids. Dickie V's connection is so bad that it's almost impossible to understand him, but it's fitting for his character.

Great, great episode, with everything I was hoping for and plenty that I wasn't. Claudia might have the highest percentage of great episodes of any guest.

Episode 10 - Justin Trudeau Has A Tattoo (w/ Thomas Middleditch)
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Hard Nation
So great, especially if you enhance the listening experience by smoking weed through your dinker. Edit - Forgot to mention this earlier, but the TLC/Beyonce discussion and the phone call with Mark's daughter especially tickled me. -
That one and "...Stressed out" were all-timers. GREAT episode.

Episode 13 - Married to a Monster
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Beautiful Stories from Anonymous People
Those are some seriously heavy posts which make me hesitant to say anything beyond the most basic, surface-level comment on the episode, but I thought it was phenomenal, and Chris's closing sentiment about the caller's son was really beautiful. -
#Wellactually the data and most of the anecdotal replies at the linked page suggest that 'vest' is more common in the US.

I knew it! Was it Little Janet who first introduced Blythe Danner? Because that was pretty fucking great. -
Scott and Al just goofing it up in the first segment in always a delight. Drew might be a new candidate for worst character accent ever.

Episode 241 - Guess the Bigfoot
Kickpuncher replied to Kevin Bartelt's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
I think the bigger (directly related) issue is Matt serving as moderator when the whole root of the debate is him being outspokenly on one side. He asked one question (the worst-case scenario one) that felt like it was pretty clearly tilted to her side, and she got to do plugs (not even for her writing, but for Hillary support) at the end of the show. I thought it was an interesting discussion and I don't have strong feelings on either side, but I have to agree with the "kind of lame" assessment on that level. -
Episode 80 - Jason Mantzoukas: What Went Wrong?
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
This was great, but I can't help but think that everything "Alex" said about the fans of his show was a subtle indication that Jason feels exactly the opposite about CBB fans. -
Episode 106 - Chris Gethard of Beautiful Stories From Anonymous People

Good stuff. Chris, if you reading this, I'm really glad that you didn't take the approach of popping in with narration on B/A. -
