That Youngstown stuff was fascinating. "Bulletproof Sweater Vest" would have been a good title.

EPISODE 55 - Nick Vatterott: Land Of The Danny Freeman
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
I was thinking Nixon and (obviously) Rush Limbaugh. I'm glad Lauren's character was so far out of the box, because I wasn't looking forward to an hour of that. But it was really good! -
I don't remember if Scott mentioned it on this episode (or a more recent one), but John Lennon is on tonight's TV show!

EPISODE 216 — Grudge Justice
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
FUCK YES "Baby made a boom-boom." We even got a Fage mention! -
Good show, nice job by Ele and I liked how they didn't seem obligated to stick to one 'life topic' per chart entry. Am I the only one who's confused by what's going on with Hey Gang? Like, they were putting these out pretty regularly a few months ago, so why are they holding them back when Howard has apparently been recording them all along and there's no other Twooch? The only thing I can think is that they're going to be on another site and the details are still being worked out.

EPISODE 36 - A Dinner Theater
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
FUCKING INCREDIBLE. Everything was great but the songs were sooooo great. -
I would genuinely love a supercut of all the parts of Leesa ads where Scott whines about mattress shopping. Fun ep, the dead daughter part killed me.

OH MY GOD THAT POP UP AD IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!
Kickpuncher replied to souprman's topic in General Earwolf
Yep. Made twice as bad by the download links on the main page not working and therefore having to go into the episode pages to download. At least it's over after today. -
Almost forgot this - Did anyone else catch that Paul started the Blue Apron ad with "Hey, non-cookers!" HEY NONG COOKERS!!!

EPISODE 54 - Don Fanelli: Trash Talk with Tony Tushie
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
Really enjoyed this one. For a young woman, Lauren is almost a little too good at playing these old man characters. -
EPISODE 215 — Robbie Fulks in Rocky Road Pie Town
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
He's like Jack Black, except that he's actually also playing the guitar. -
"What is its mission?" t-shirts, please? I might have missed it earlier, but I can't believe it took them a half-hour to mention that the main character's name was DADE. They somehow managed to get bad-to-passable performances out of everyone in this movie (including some good actors), starting with Miller's telltale Brit-playing-American nasal twang. It was also really weird how they used that device of cutting away to old TV/movie footage, and then (again, unless I missed it, because I was barely paying attention through the last ~1/3) completely dropped it after the first 15-20 minutes.

I'm 100% on board with Howard about not covering recent songs. I continue to be 100% off board with the idea of seeing a movie you know you won't like. Good ep, but (broken record alert) the guest segment felt way too short, even more so than recent episodes.

EPISODE 35 - The Moon Landing Taping, 1969
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
Yeah, I thought it was good because some of the stuff is genuinely interesting, and most of the rest is entertainingly crazy. -
EPISODE 35 - The Moon Landing Taping, 1969
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
"Happytire" and Paul's explosion of laughter at it was one of my favorite Spontaneanation moments to date. Edit - Yeah, what he said! -
Few things in this world amuse me more than "John Lennon" matter-of-factly stating facts (be they true or not). "Oh yeah, Paul, he was the bass player in the band."
-
Good stuff. Between the music and the guest, it made me nostalgic for sitting in my college dorm reading Entertainment Weekly and listening to CDs.

Great stuff. I've found the minisodes to be a bit of a slog lately (to the point that I was on the fence about even continuing to listen to them), but if Jason will be appearing regularly, I'm 100% back in.

EPISODE 53 - Shaun Diston: The Wishing Well with Skee-Lo
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
Yes yes yes. So good. And the episode totally lived up to it. -
It's easier for her schedule because they're recording one show per week rather than two. I think, within those parameters, the specific format is just what they think is best creatively.

EPISODE 214 — Wild Horses vs. Big Grande: LIVE at UCBsunset
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
He really earned those three rounds of applause! Great ep. The laundry scene was fantastic. -
EPISODE 387 — Most Multiple Personalities
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
"You're definitely the funniest. You had one joke." SO MANY laugh-out-loud moments in this one. Grant was very funny/cool and both characters were great. Also, Scott did an especially great job of keeping everything on track. -
I like how James pointed out that renting an old arcade game is "cheap", as if renting a house, renting a bunch of games/activities, and having a bunch of food delivered isn't still something that 95% of families can't afford.
