Given the ages and musical tastes of Howard and Brian and the fact that Kulap is from Minnesota, I'm sure they're all very familiar with Husker Du, and that was the reference. Howard's vocal warm-up was PHENOMENAL. I can't ever remember such a long stretch of an episode where I was so completely transfixed. Also, thumbs up to whichever Engineer Cody is responsible for this version of the new theme, sans "And Stard!"

Rats, you got me!

Yes, back-to-back Belcher kid days on Earwolf! Loved Eugene's take on the duck story.

Sexist or not, you're presuming an awful lot about a person based on one half-hour interview. But yeah, how dare she try to be funny on a comedy podcast?

EPISODE 34 - Parking Garage: Live from Largo
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
Great ep, possibly my favorite interview segment yet. -
Me too. You might even say...I could get used to this.

EPISODE 12 - Jessica Chaffin - Spotlight On: Donna Delpepio
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Womp It Up!
Oh, cool. I knew they recorded one last week, but I wasn't sure if it would come out right away or if they would bank a whole bunch of episodes like last time. -
It's been a while...

That's especially weird in that it seems like Williams just knew that and was bringing it up spontaneously. Even weirder - Two bands directly impacted by this (EODM and U2) have both appeared on Earwolf shows recently.

EPISODE 52 - Jon Gabrus: Intern Gino Lambardo's Drive Time Radio Show
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
LOVE the continuity of Gino now being fat thanks to the Pam Murphy character. When Mizz Chips called in, I was hoping we'd get a special anniversary Lapkusverse cavalcade (and I even briefly thought the "ghost" was Pamela from Big Bear), but an hour of Gino and Traci is more than good enough. Also, that opening message was so nice! -

EPISODE 213 — Dramatic Tornado
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Neil UNDENIABLY extended his GOAT status from CBB freestyle battlers to I4H guests. The number of times that he pops in with little jokes and makes the others break is amazing. The Kylo Ren and chipmunk cheeks lines fucking killed me. -
Great ep, probably my favorite with the new format. "Monkeysplaining" and "Nut foam" are some great new entries in the Whooch lexicon.

EPISODE 33 - TV News Control Room
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
That Charlie Sheen lifestyle discussion was fantastic. So was Ken the intern briefly turning into Miss Piggy. HIIII-YA! Also, the triumphant return of Mitch & Dolores! -
The first thing I noticed in the photos was Betsy's shirt, so I'm glad Scott acknowledged it. On a related note, I wonder if Big Sue is the proprietress of Big Sue's Tapwater Taffy. Great ep, Mulaney is awesome and both characters were very funny. But all of this Beatles talk made me wish that a certain member of the Fab Four could have popped in.

I just saw a commercial for Creed and it got me thinking about the whole Rocky accent thing. Stallone is from NY and always talks like that, so he wasn't doing an accent, and obviously wasn't trying to do a Philly accent. But he wrote the movie himself, and insisted on playing the lead himself as a condition of selling the script to the studio (to the extent that he took less money for it). SO WHY IS ROCKY FROM PHILLY? According to Wikipedia (you guys are causing me to learn a lot today)... "The film draws inspiration from the careers of at least three boxers." The first two are Rocky Marciano and Chuck Wepner. "The Philadelphia setting and details of training (including using sides of beef) come from the life of Joe Frazier." So he liked the beef thing and/or Frazier so much that he decided to set it in Philly at the expense of an incongruous accent? And they got a bunch of other actors from NY also doing NY accents so he wouldn't sound weird, or something? This is giving me a headache, someone get me a wudder ice.

I always thought the "OH!" in "Unbelievable" was a Dice sample; Wikipedia confirms - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unbelievable_%28EMF_song%29

That slap in the face? That's gotta huwt. -
EPISODE 377 — Good Night In The Morning
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
Yes, of course. That one was long enough ago that I sort of forgot it, but it absolutely belongs in the top 3. -
EPISODE 212 — Dan Deacon and the Mighty Mighty Bosses
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Great ep. I love it when all of the improvisers are perceptive enough and comfortable enough with each other to dig deep on little slip-ups and miscommunications a la Scott/Zouks/PFT. -
EPISODE 377 — Good Night In The Morning
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I'll be shocked if it doesn't. The only other episode I think has a chance is Heynong Man. -
All of that said, Harris Wittels asking "What are you, a fuckin' shirt detective?" in response to a question I submitted on a live VPN episode of Whooch is one of the highlights of my life.
-
I know he's just ball-busting, but I can't imagine that listeners wanting to participate in this new aspect of the show are encouraged by what we've heard so far. "Please submit audio questions! There's only a 60% chance that Howard will interrupt and/or criticize you."
-
Totes. I said last week that I didn't mind the shorter guest time, but might feel differently if it was a guest I know and like. Confirmed! I was hoping that when Whooch and Twooch merged, we'd get longer episodes in order to accommodate everything, but all three have been right around 70 minutes, so it definitely feels rushed at times. Anyway, still a really fun episode, and Howard and Stard are killing it with the new themes.

Based on the main page (no name listed for Earl, indistinct photo), I thought the guest was Matt Besser. After hearing the episode, I'm not entirely convinced that it wasn't Matt Besser doing a character of a Comedy Store comic.
