Did anyone else watch The Leftovers this week and immediately think of Shelly Driftwood when Brett Butler showed up?

EPISODE 32 - Storage Room In Back Of Hot Dog Stand
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
HOT DOG STAND GENIE! -
I have no memory of that movie whatsoever! (But still, he was definitely describing the premise and co-star of Frequency.)
-
Elian Gonzalez? The dad in Frequency was Dennis Quaid, not Michael Keaton. When it was brought up that numbers are "inhuman", I would have bet my life that either Scott or Jason would make a reference to Marvel's Inhumans, particularly given that they had discussed Marvel only minutes earlier.

EPISODE 275 — Wikifeet High and Rising
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Sklarbro Country
Great ep, love any time you guys dive deep into the process. My understanding of the Nazi doll is that it was from a series of military history dolls. The resemblance alone is amazing, so for them to claim the name being the same is coincidental is insane. -
EPISODE 383 — Return to Suicide House Part Boo
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I'll be damned, he is! I guess I'm so conditioned to hearing Scott's reaction that I missed it. -
EPISODE 383 — Return to Suicide House Part Boo
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I just listened to the original Monster Fuck and realized that (other than the "Part 2!" and so forth) there actually are some differences between versions, because he doesn't mention Swamp Thing (Swamp Thing?!) in the original. -
EPISODE 274 — Tie Up Your Horse and Tie One On

More personal and thoughtful commentary on the Murphy story than any of us could hope to come up with - http://espn.go.com/espnw/news-commentary/article/14009526/the-stages-understanding-root-daniel-murphy -
EPISODE 50 - Randy Sklar, Jason Sklar: Mountain Tops with the Hoke Brothers
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
So great. So, so creepy. LOVED the concept of the 'real' guest not showing up and having a substitute guest as a narrative tweak on the usual format. Lauren's character was very reminiscent of Marissa Wompler, right down to the neglectful mother named Diane. I also loved how her level was turned up so much to actually clip when she got even semi-loud, so kudos to whoever engineered this one. -
EPISODE 275 — Wikifeet High and Rising
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Sklarbro Country
Yes! I heard about this on Men In Blazers, can't wait to hear the Sklars' take. -
It worked fine for me yesterday, but I had the same thing with I4H today, so it must be something going on today rather than something specific to this episode.
-
So after four years, two weeks of a still-being-tweaked format is enough to bail? Sure. The addition of the TV chart is great since Howard gets to unload on some crud shows, but I do agree it's kind of a mess. I don't have a problem with too little time with the guest (OK, ask me again when someone I really like is on), it just feels jumbled trying to cramstuff together the pop culture charts and the Ku/Wie charts from Twooch AND a guest question. Seems like it would be smoother to just have everyone chat about their week without the constraints of the chart structure, then do the charts separately.

EPISODE 31 - Do Questions Require Answers?
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Question of the Day
ZING! I'm listening every day and generally enjoy the show. Looking at the forum index, it's easy to see a big, continuous drop-off in the number of thread views, but I hope that's just because people are realizing that there isn't really any discussion going on (which is too bad, because as I said in an earlier thread, this podcast is ideal for discussion) and not that they're losing listeners. -
EPISODE 31 - Wine Tasting

OK, sorry. I didn't get that you were going for that. Really, not a big deal. -

EPISODE 31 - Wine Tasting
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
So you pointing out that 9/11 was a Tuesday was you playing along with the joke? OK! That picture of Amanda and the baby bunny is adorable, it's such a shame that it died from varnish vapor inhalation minutes later. -
EPISODE 274 — Tie Up Your Horse and Tie One On
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Sklarbro Country
Coincidentally enough, Torii Hunter, who was probably the most well-known and extreme case of this exact phenomenon, retired today. -
EPISODE 31 - Wine Tasting
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
So was the stock market crash of 1929, aka "Black Tuesday". He was joking. Bruce is my favorite Kid in the Hall, but I felt like he was a little too "on" here. Very funny, but kind of exhausting. Anyway, great episode, thought the various ways things from the interview were incorporated were really clever (even more so than usual). One of my favorite aspects of the show is when they go into something and it hits you that it's a reference to the interview. -
EPISODE 22 - U2 Talk 2 U

EPISODE 274 — Tie Up Your Horse and Tie One On
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Sklarbro Country
Cool, I didn't remember that. I didn't say this very well (or I guess at all), but more than "don't talk about this" (which I obviously don't have any right to say even if I thought it), I meant that I'd rather think about the amazing thing that's happening now rather than something that's pretty much been forgotten since it was relatively innocuous and long ago. I agree! I think that whatever media member is asking that question is putting (some) guys in an impossible situation. I'd rather not have religion serve as an excuse, but I guess I prefer it to someone just being backwards on their own without having been taught it their whole life. And that answer is great, but 99.9% of athletes could never come up with that on the fly. -
EPISODE 383 — Return to Suicide House Part Boo
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
"...Hallowscream!" "You don't have to Halloween up the word 'Halloween'." The spookiest part of this episode was Scott being inhabited by the spirit of Neil Campbell during the freestyle rap battle. C+.- 75 replies

I just checked, and as Ryan says above, no, it's not. So I don't know why Paul would say it's available on "Amazon Prime" when it's available on regular Amazon like almost every other movie.
-
Oh cool, this is the first Amazon Prime movie they've done since I subscribed to Amazon Prime. Xavier was also in New Avengers/Illuminati. I'd guess that Jean Gray was also in some form of the Avengers at some point given how long she and they have been around. So, I'm sure that's what Paul was thinking of and it was a total coincidence that he picked three of the most prominent X-Men.

EPISODE 274 — Tie Up Your Horse and Tie One On
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Sklarbro Country
I hate to defend Murphy (and yes, I'm a Mets fan), but I'm not crazy about the "This guy hit a bunch of home runs, so let's talk about something stupid he said 8 months ago" approach. If it's worth talking about, talk about it when it happens, not because he's suddenly more famous. He's openly a devout Christian, hence not taking the "no comment" approach, and within those parameters, I think what he said was reasonably subdued. There are plenty of athletes and other people connected to pro sports who say much more intolerant things under the guise of religion. Anyway, good ep, wasn't really familiar with Andrew but he seems cool. -
EPISODE 210 — Entering From the Rear
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that segment and a few things I wanted to say. For starters, issue aside, it was awesome that the guy was such a big fan and immediately sniffed out Matt's attempt to "Crossballs" him (and the specific appropach Matt took in doing so was very funny). I agree with just about every point the guy made. In line with Blink's point here, I didn't like Matt's heroin argument, because people do heroin for their own pleasure, whereas pro football players play because someone is paying them a lot of money for the entertainment of other people. Even before medical science was scratching the surface of the dangers of football, you'd very rarely see adults playing recreational tackle football. All that said, I also thought Matt did a good job and it was nice to hear a CC that was friendly and sensible on both sides.
