EPISODE 235 — Vision Impaired, Still Prepared
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Who Charted?
Yeah, I remember one of the Chartists saying that they loved listening to their first album (minus a few songs) with their kid. That album was actually pretty mild in terms of language, so he's definitely capable of it. -
Also, I'm surprised no one has addressed this - The voice on the Riddle Me This theme is Marc Evan Jackson, right?

EPISODE 190 — Postcoital Mess: LIVE at UCBsunset
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Zach and Eric are a perfect combo since Eric is basically like a real-life (albeit even more awkward) version of most of Zach's characters. -
I had a mouthful of water when I heard this. I barely suppressed a genuine spit-take, then decided to walk over to the sink and spit it out rather than daring to swallow amid convulsive laughter.

EPISODE 235 — Vision Impaired, Still Prepared
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Who Charted?
Seconding (or thirding, or whatever) the Airwolf and brass ring guesses. Fun episode, Jamie fits in with the Ku-Wie vibe very well. The debut of a new Summah song is pretty massive, and this one didn't disappoint. -
EPISODE 4 - Brian Huskey, Brian Stack, Miriam Tolan - Spotlight On: Dr. Dennis Endercut & Principal Sanders
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Womp It Up!
Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't ad lib a reference to the still-nameless Baby Wompler. -
(Flip your calendar to Jun if you haven't already done it, then pull your wang out and close the calendar onto it)

EPISODE 10 - The Student Lounge at A Performing Arts High School
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
I now have a Pavlovian reaction of pure delight to the words "Hey Dolores". "I'm recently widowed, because I am" might be the finest example of improv these ears have ever heard. -
Fun story - At work today, I put "Jun" in a file name, and thought "I wonder if Scott will say 'Jun' on today's CBB", then I listened after work and he did! Great ep. Scott asking "Did he bend it?!" was pretty much a perfect distillation of his persona.

"Rules of the sea, you can suck anything you want if you're 20 feet off the coast." Sounds like Seth has been studying under a certain theatrical director.- 21 replies

So how long...

Have fun! -
Peak Wie-Wie: Chewie Weirholm @howardkremer Just discovered I did all of Summah Summit with two contacts in one eye, none in other.

Great ep. It felt like they did an unofficial Sklarbitration on the golf story.

EPISODE 111 — Hercules in New York: LIVE!
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Thank you! I was wondering about that and then never bothered to look it up. Also, someone mentioned earlier that it seemed like maybe he lost his powers between the 750 and 1000 pound rounds, which totally makes more sense than the impression you'd otherwise get, which is that he lost his powers before that. But if the other guy was able to do 1000 pounds, then maybe he could do 750 even without his powers? That raises another point, which is that a big part of the first act is people underestimating him because they don't know he's an Olympian demi-god, which weirdly ignores that HE'S STILL A FUCKING HUGE GUY. Mortal human or not, no one would be stepping to that guy over $2 or a fairly mild insult, yet it's constantly happening in this movie. Also, I was a little surprised they didn't mention that the MC for that weightlifting contest was Mr. Wilhelm, George's boss with the Yankees on Seinfeld. -
EPISODE 111 — Hercules in New York: LIVE!
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
It might be "pre-irony", but I think there was a whole cottage industry of B-movies being cranked out as quickly and as cheaply as possible without any pretense that they were making good movies (or even doing a good job of making a bad movie, which I'm sure is the approach that a lot of people involved in big-budget movies today take if they're being honest). I guess this is sort of the MST3K milieu. But like I said, I have zero problem with them picking this particular movie because of Schwarzenegger (both the historical curiosity of it being his first movie, and specifically how weird his performance is) and because it's ultimately a fun experience. I just think it's a well they shouldn't (and obviously haven't) go to with any regularity. -
EPISODE 111 — Hercules in New York: LIVE!

You know how directors/DPs like to shoot outdoor scenes during "the magic hour"? Whenever they shot that bear fight was the opposite of the magic hour. -
EPISODE 111 — Hercules in New York: LIVE!
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I sort of agree with the idea that an old, low-budget movie isn't generally something they should be doing, but the Schwarzenegger factor is enough of a reason to make an exception here, and either way, this episode was a goddam delight. -
EPISODE 28 - Ben Schwartz: Second Chances with Donald Faulter
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
Even before that, Lauren was like "Oh, I know this..." and totally dropped the character voice. That whole part was amazing. -
"This thing that I'm keeping you secret." That Harris clip...

EPISODE 189 — Apes Will Fight If We Must
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Obviously I can't speak for Matt, but I have a feeling that he's perfectly happy to have someone figure it out and discuss it in here. And while I'm trying to get into Besser's head, does anyone else find it funny that this is the second time he's likened himself to a character from a dystopic sci-fi movie? Anyway, great episode! -
I feel like Arnold Stang (Pretzie) saw that scene and made it his personal mission to out-cartoon that woman.

Considering that David is still reading e-mails from July 2013, it feels downright timely.

EPISODE 9 - The Annual Ghost Sex Convention
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
It's uncanny! The photo it seems to be based on is the only one I can find where he looks even slightly like Scott, but the drawing looks exactly like him. -
That was definitely next-level bonkers. Not to mention that those two were on foot and basically kept up with a chase involving a horse-drawn 'chariot' and a car.

EPISODE 9 - The Annual Ghost Sex Convention
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
In case it wasn't clear, I didn't make that, but yes, it is fantastic!
