Another thing that killed me from this episode which I just remembered today and no one has mentioned yet - "New York City?!" Such a quintessential Paul/Scott reference, made ten times funnier by "Werner" saying it.

That joke was OK.

Episode 9 - Into The Singularity Part 2
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Hooray Show with Horatio
Love the new logo. The initial Ford scene with the references to all the different characters/movies was really funny. -
Everyone bringing up the similarity between Santa and Thicke makes me really want a Thicke/Ho-Ho episode so we can hear a "Buh"/BLECH-off.
-
Great episode, GREAT guest. I know guests like this don't grow on trees, but this type of discussion where the guest has a personal story and it ties in with some science- or philosophy-related area works better than having a guest who may or may not be an expert and trying to tailor the show to a topic. Stephanie thinking she can eat three large pizzas is utterly, hilariously ridiculous and I absolutely can't wait for this pizza challenge to happen.

Yep, Speakeasy is great, although I guess I can only bring the tally to about 3.5 viewers since I don't watch every episode.
-
It seems like, regardless of the sports/non-sports formats of the shows, the guest breakdown is almost always that higher-profile guests are on Country and lower-profile guests on County.
-
In case anyone was wondering, Lauren says it's not her (unlike the Traci Reardon account, which is).

I don't know, but the several-second delay before it was played was a nice clue that Cody was this episode's Engineer Cody before he was mentioned later on.

Origins: The New Story

Close it up, close it up Close it up, close it up BLECH! (By "it", I mean the Best of 2015 competition.) Michael was great and just happened to pick the same three guests I would pick, so this was pretty much perfect for me. PFT's aggressive Santa at the end was one of my favorite CBB moments ever.

Or even, failing that, limit yourself to one negative post about the episode.

EPISODE 16 — The Sweet Sound of Success with Max Success Champion
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
SQUARESPACE COMMERCIAL WITH TODD! This one took some time to hook me in, but it was real good. The "We've all..." run was my favorite. -
Does anyone else get the impression that the next Summah album is gonna be at least 50% Ocean vs. Space songs?

Episode 8 - Into the Singularity
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Hooray Show with Horatio
Yeah, she did a really good job on those (she was also on one other episode, which I guess was in November, but for some reason their archive only seems to go back to December) of comedically owning the fact that she seems to know very little about movies without actually seeming dumb, which is something that a lot of guests can't do. Hooray for another great ep! -
EPISODE 337 — The Ying and the Yankovic
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
Well, they've both played retail co-workers of Kroll characters on Kroll Show. -
That Dentist the Mentalist promo made me laugh as hard as anything I can remember recently, partially because it was genuinely funny and partially because of the idea that a ridiculous tossed-off three-word phrase from CBB became something that a large corporation spent money on and a television crew gathered to shoot. This episode also featured an interstitial with PFT where he was wearing a blazer and a t-shirt, which was deeply unsettling.

Watching now, this is amazing. I knew that Claudia was in the episode, but somehow didn't make the connection that she could be in a sketch with R. Schrift.
-
And no one even called her on it! Shows what a clusterfuck that whole thing was, albeit in a very entertaining way. The whole thing was a nice throwback to Howard's classic quizzes. Great episode, Gemberling is awesome, love how he always says "Gemberlicking" the same way.

EPISODE 214 — Sound Healing Therapy
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Affirmation Nation with Bob Ducca
Holy crap, this was amazing. I thought it was going to peak early on with the one-two punch of a Bob/Mitchell segment and a Ducca list, but then the baby-voiced penis-burning story took it to a new level. Mary was great as always. -
Every comedian's career goal should to become successful/respected enough that they can come on PB and not be asked to not swear.

I love the idea and constantly have the urge, but I don't have the balls to actually do it.

Yeah, that kind of blew me away, to the point that when I saw his name in the opening credits, I had to check IMDB to make sure he was who I thought. On a maybe-related note, I was thinking about the ghost mom twist - I think part of the reason the movie doesn't feel as batshit-bonkers as most HDTGM movies is that they actually show some restraint with this. She has a very small part, and the reveal isn't horribly overplayed. I wonder if that's due to having a genuine quality director.

EPISODE 337 — The Ying and the Yankovic
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I'm usually able to hold it together when I listen to podcasts in public, but the pre-intro banter made me lose it a couple times. I go back and forth on my favorite PFT character, but I definitely think that ALW is the best for bringing out his playfully adversarial relationship with Scott(rick) that someone mentioned earlier. -
Yep, just watched it and came in to say exactly what seems to be the consensus. The twist is ridiculous and it's obviously not a good movie, but I don't really see what they can possibly say about it because there's nothing funny or weird or remarkably bad about the first 95% of it.
