Lauren Lapkus Cool Jokester

His insanity reached new levels this week when he managed to take something good about GOTG (the soundtrack) and turn it into a negative, like using something good is bad because it means you need to rely on it? Hopefully the all new howardkremer.com will have a fan art section for all those Unrecorded Nothers mock-up covers.

Episode 170 — Bring Your Dad In Day
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Awesome ep. To paraphrase Matt Walsh from the last episode, Daly hit a walk-off grand slam with that closing line. Also, Pam's little kid voice in the boomerang/golf scene was tremendous. -
Ugh, this commercial. Remember how Ku said that Ed Sheeran is her 'cut-off'? I had a similar experience with this commercial. They promote that video with "Vine, Instagram, and YouTube stars", which just sort of makes me throw my hands up and say "Fuck this, I'm out" when it comes to youth culture. Andy is really just the most delightful person in the world, isn't he? Speaking of him talkin' U2, he's said that Bono was actually the inspiration for Patrick McMahon.

Episode 211 — Depresskimos

I hope this means that Seth has been cast in a new TV show or something else good. -
Hang in there.

Yes. (Wait...Only if you reprise your role as the masturbating kid.) -
"We had a really good FY14, but then our Theremin budget went THROUGH THE ROOF!"

"Chicken, Ohio" Man, this was so heart-warming and adorable. Nice to know that everything is going so well for them individually and collectively (and that the PB gang can actually start using Stephanie's name). Obviously the format was totally different, but this was also a pretty perfect PB episode in general - A friendly, funny discussion coupled with (at least towards to end) a thoughtful, semi-serious discussion of a real issue.

Episode 8 — Healthy You with Kate Berlant
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
FWIW, as someone who comments on most episodes (this show and others), I really liked this but not so much that I felt the need to mention it, and didn't have anything particularly interesting to say. Without existing histories for most of these characters and in some cases a lack of real laugh-out-loud moments, I just don't think there's much to say. I didn't realize until I just checked the forum page how many fewer comments this has than the other episodes. -
Off the top of my head, Paradise Alley (1978) is older. I'd guess there are more.

Great episode, loved the departure from the usual format. Side note, I don't know why Jessica felt like she needed to be protective of "Eater X's" identity. I know his name off the top of my head, and they openly use both his real name and his gimmick name on the TV broadcasts of the Nathan's contest.

Yep! These are also the people who recreated the eyes-closed selfie exchange between Scott and PFT that was discussed on the Best Ofs.

"I'll pass on that." I hate when people try to look for controversy that isn't there, but did anyone else get the sense that Kroll Show ending might be at least in small part due to Nick not being too happy with Comedy Central?

Does Nerd Poker change from early to later podcasts?
Kickpuncher replied to Cymbeline's topic in Nerd Poker
Well, you apparently listened to 19 episodes in 5 days, so... -
I don't know, there haven't been a lot of details about it, but Jess and Len have been soliciting advice questions on Twitter, and they're doing the monthly "Earwolf Presents" live show at UCB next week: https://sunset.ucbtheatre.com/performance/36325.

Understandably. Like I said, the other stuff is not at all obvious to non-Americans, and I also assume that the Sklars are exaggerating their take on "All Blacks" for comedic effect. All good.
-
Two counter points relating to cultural subtleties which might not be apparent to a non-American: 1) Regarding other uses of 'black' as an adjective that you cited, it's not really the same thing. It's generally not considered offensive to refer to African-Americans with 'black' as an adjective. But it is offensive (or at least antiquated/insensitive) to refer to them using 'Blacks' as a noun. The name "All Blacks" is more reminiscent of the latter. 2) Semi-related, the name "All Blacks" is definitely evocative of segregation. (Same would go for "All Whites", which I believe is a nickname for your soccer team.) Obviously I wouldn't expect the team to not use a traditional name in order to cater to a country across the world that doesn't really care about their sport, but if you know this stuff, I think it's pretty clear why it sounds weird to American ears. And by the way, "coming from the country that continues to allow the 'Red Skins' to be a thing" is a pretty serious mis-characterization of the situation. Most people here are strongly in favor of changing that, and I'd pretty much guarantee that includes the Sklars. So please don't lump them in with "the country", which in this case would be the (notoriously non-progressive) NFL and maybe the legal system, and even then, probably only for the time being.

Alright, I'll just say it - I think I like this movie.
-
OK, I've reached the animated sequence, and I think we've officially achieved NEXT LEVEL BONKERS.
-
But he gets mad (probably mostly jokingly, but still) when Ku and Stard don't adequately give it up for his choices!
-
I didn't think it was possible, but Howard's New Year's Eve story made me love him even more.
-
Right, because John Lennon wasn't in U2.
-
I don't know why Andy Peters was on this, but "Anne" playing off him was really funny.
-
"Professional Tools?!" I feel like this could be said for every episode, but Scott was on fire here. I especially love that, regardless of this episode's Engineer Cody, he took any technical gaffe as a chance to get a dig in at Engineer Cody Cody. Hanford was fucking hilarious. I wonder if there's any connection between Beatle Heaven and Murderer Heaven? Also, SO MUCH fodder for the Beatles' Wikipedia pages.

Episode 327 — Bang! Bang! Into Your Mouth!
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
Doug was the guest on today's "I Was There Too" and it was very good and he didn't mention weed even once.
