  1. Holy charts, this has immediately rocketed to the top of my Best of Who Charted 2012 list. Jessica St. Clair is incredible.

    Β

For the second straight show, the previous top moments of 2012 discussion has been obliterated.

    Β

Twenty minutes before getting into the first chart is highly unorthodox, but A-OK when the guest is the most delightful person in the podcast universe. Howard + Jessica = Pure Magic

  2. Β

For real? Can anyone quote me a funny line she said?

    Β

Not off the top of my head (I listened on Monday morning), but I just thought the whole characterization was great, and the times that she would say something increasingly mumbled to the bewilderment of the others were really funny.

    Β

This first clip with Lizzy Caplan just leaves me totally, utterly, inexplicably cold. Like, the only episode of CBB I couldn't finish listening to. What is wrong with me?

    Β

It wasn't my least favorite or anything, but I was pretty disappointed with the episode too. I really like all three of the guests, and there was some funny stuff there, but I agree that it just felt flat. I was really surprised it made the top 10.

  3. St. Vincent audibly groaning after a Foam Corner joke is my favorite moment of the year.

    Β

This was amazing. And it sounded 100% genuine.

    Β

I was hoping Finger Guns and Friends Without Words would finish higher, too. I had forgotten how good the Lauren Lapkus character was on the latter. Also, he often goes relatively unnoticed (as much as possible) and unpraised, but the Choctaw was ON FIRE during that segment.

  4. Holy crap, this episode.

    Β

I was thinking the same thing about this whole episode making the entire 'best moment' discussion practically irrelevant. Having seen the photos on Twitter earlier in the day, the build-up as Howard was opening the package was pretty amazing. Awesome job by the guy who made that monstrosity.

  5. So why is this on Earwolf Presents when it's an older episode of a regular podcast?

    Β

I think they did a similar thing with Nerd Poker, albeit an episode 1-2 weeks old rather than a month or so. They've also done with the premiere episodes of some new regular shows. My guess is that it makes new shows more visible by pushing them out to people who subscribe to Presents but don't necessarily visit the site.

  6. Eighty-plus minutes of Tooch was the perfect start to my weekend.

    Β

I genuinely love Iso Lunch and would absolutely eat at a place like that.

    Β

I feel like they were on the cusp of a great idea with the cemetery cafe when someone brought up the idea of memberships, but they didn't quite get there - The "membership" should be buying a plot in the cemetery itself. Start a new cemetery with that idea and you're not offending anyone (or their loved ones) who wouldn't want a cafe in their cemetery. If you're spending money on a cemetery plot, why not get to enjoy it while you're still alive?

  7. It was kind of weird how Andrew semi-corrected himself and said something like "slave ship - well, ship with slaves", but then they still repeatedly said "slave ship" and called the episode that. Other than the stowaway, I'm not even sure that there actually were any slaves on the ship.

    Β

Doona Bae's white character in this segment was the worst (not necessarily the most offensive) race-shifted character in the movie, mostly due to the weird make-up job, but also due to her inability to speak without a fairly heavy accent.

  8. This week is going to be amazing.

    Β

I saw Cloud Atlas and actually liked it (at least 5/6 of it), but the race/gender-bending make-up was not only poorly done (in most cases), but needlessly gimmicky since there wasn't really any common thread or recurring traits among, say, all of Tom Hanks' characters.
