9/24: 1) Great sushi lunch with wife and baby followed by a nice walk in perfect weather. 2) Insanely happy baby over the past 48-72 hours. Lots of smiles, laughing and general good mood (apart from when we try to put him down for a nap. Life may be too fun for naps at the moment.) 3) Great night at our place eating crappy Chinese food with friends. 4) Another trip to the gym--this may become a habit again

9/21: 1. 6 month checkup for the boy--he's healthy and developing just as he should 2. Client loved my suggestions for a project 3. These Important Years by Husker Du 4. Jameson's Irish Whiskey 5. A lobster roll is in my future this weekend

9/20: 1. More brisket! 2. Got plenty of sleep 3. Our baby has made it to 6 months--i.e., we have somehow managed to keep him alive and healthy for half a year! 4. Client called looking for help--big new assignment coming soon. 5. Trip to the gym--something that doesn't happen nearly as often as it used to.

9/19--Over the past 24 hours: 1. Amazing brisket cooked by my wife. 2. A ton of classical music for 99 cents on Amazon. 3. Baby slept for 8 hours! 4. No trees fell over during a huge overnight wind/rain storm, and no basement flooding. 5. New brakes in the car. Loads of money spent, but feels great to know the car will stop when asked. FWIW, I find that focusing on really specific gratitudes from the previous 24 hours is especially helpful and rewarding to think about.

I just stumbled across your podcast and listened to episode 1. This is great! I'm a new, first-time dad with a 6-month-old boy. Love the clean joke of the week. Here's one for you: Q: What did the zero say to the eight? A: Nice belt! I too have started doing gratitudes each day, and it was really nice to hear someone else doing them and recommending them. I find them to be very helpful in sort of reining in my brain from going too far down a negative path when something bad happens. They help get me back in the moment and see the big picture, which looks pretty good. Anyway, thanks for this podcast. I'm gonna go listen to at least one more before I go back to work so I can pay for self-employed health insurance for my son and me.
