Episode 6 ā Achtung Baby
Poika replied to JulyDiaz's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
I was hoping they would mention Johnny Cash's cover of One. They talk about how simple U2's music actually is, and Cash took it right down to the core. (Just started listening a few weeks ago obviously!) -
The thing that did stand out to me about Shane was his comfort level and his ability to play along. I've heard other first time guests just kinda clam up when the character comes on board. I love Lauren. I really root for her success (she seems to be doing a pretty good job so far!)

For the big listenership (?) that the Sklars get, no one seems to comment in the forums. Love their show!

Well, that ended rather abruptly. Let's eat our snacks!

Episode 12 ā Slowing It Down 2
Poika replied to JulyDiaz's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
I have also come to adore this podcast. It is SO much fun and there is such great energy, and Pardo fit right in. And, also, NNF has become one of my favorite podcasts over the last few months. -
Episode 2 ā The Unforgettable Fire
Poika replied to JulyDiaz's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
I'm late to the game- listened to the last three and now starting from the top. I'm from the midwest, so maybe it was more of a regional hit, but I listened to Scritti Politti and it was terrible! Typical '80s garbage synth pop. That said, I love you Scotts! -
Episode 11 ā How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb
Poika replied to JulyDiaz's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
I haven't gone through the comments because it's late, but "Vertigo"'s chorus is very similar to The Supremes' "You Just Keep Me Hangin' On". I'm only halfway through the episode too, so maybe they catch it at some point. -
I agree- Kumail is a great guest. Super funny and has great stories, knowledge, and perspective. I find it fascinating that he has a better grasp of the English language than the two first language English speakers!

Jessica and Lennon are on @midnight tonight!

It's an awesome clip. OK song but GREAT performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ee4bfu_t3c

Still no CBBs recorded at the new studio!

Howard's coming to Chicago! Huzzah! I also enjoyed the last 12 minutes where you get to hear Cody LIE about Who Charted being the first podcast recorded at Earwolf III. JESUS CODY!
-
I thought the same thing. Men of a certain age and all that jazz. Once again, noticed the same thing. I thought it was a wonderful episode, full of laughs (laffs?)! Glad a few listeners noticed other things that the hosts/guests didn't notice that literally made me laugh out loud (LOL?!?).

I'm using an iPhone and it's still not on their podcast app. Sometimes Earwolf shows don't show up right away for me for some reason.

Episode 83 ā Go To Rhino Records
Poika replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
Wonderful show- right up my alley. I love this inside baseball music talk, especially with the co-founder of Rhino Records which really meant something to me in my early adult life. -
Episode 126 ā Their Name Is Korn
Poika replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Awesome episode. I really enjoy the melding of the music and the improv. I love the normal episodes but this and the episode three weeks ago are a real original way to change up the show! -
Best cold open ever! Still listening, but this whole episode was an excellent idea.

Episode 008 ā Kiss Me, Iām Patrick McMahon LIVE!
Poika replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Andy Daly Podcast Pilot Project
I ran out of 'like's for this thread. This episode was so fun, and the end so heartwarming. Andy's been on a winning streak as of late and one feels like part of the team rooting him on. I hope Andy soon has to try sweat his way through a 40 episode season of Review! -
I may be talking out of turn, but I felt that Mike's obsession with Barkhad Abdi was the fact that he made 65K two years ago appearing as a main character in a Hollywood blockbuster, and that it was depressing that due to his teeth and his awkward appearance, he would be denied roles after an awesome performance. I don't doubt this to be true, and while it is depressing to point out, I think he made it fairly obvious that he believes (and I do too) that this was realistic in Hollywood.

I really do miss the the VPN stuff. While I was not a regular viewer, I watched it here and there and miss being able to do that on a boring night.
-
What great guests! I really loved how well the musicians played along.
-
Scott must have a few of these in the can while they film the show. Loved this one and agree it was nice to have Chelsea front and center for a while. Just heard the end. Never mind that first sentence.
-
This was so entertaining! Everyone really clicked and played well off of each other. Jon Gabrus was unbelievable. Love Besser! AND EVERYONE ELSE WAS GREAT TOO (seriously!)

As far as the shows not being longer, they are doing two shows a week now (and as we know from HDTGM, life sometimes gets in the way of a free podcast!) They save most of the personal stuff for Two Charted. That said, MY QUESTION WAS READ! and I feel kind of stupid because it's one of the most generic questions you can ask in comedy, but Alice's first (PFT) answer was what I had hoped for. Hearing Howard say, "Hey Poika" was a huge thrill because I've had that handle online for over 30 years. Maybe Howard and I struck up a friendship in the old 300 baud D-Dial and BBS days.

So sad for me and happy for June and Paul, but also hopeful that the future brings great some great podcast listening from Jason, June, and Paul. Also, was it just me or did it sound like Paul had an egg timer going in the background?
