Episode 1524 - John Ross Bowie
Poika replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Never Not Funny: The Jimmy Pardo Podcast
Just downloaded the new Player's Club. My guess shall be 'Xenophobe.' -
I'm really digging this show in the fact that it IS all over the place yet cohesive. It's also one of Earwolf's better produced shows and the editing must take some work. Hooray!

Randy was a great guest as was the last 'normal person' guest. I guess it makes sense- if they listen to Who Charted, they probably get the vibe and have a good sense of humor. Loved that Brett played The Ramones during Randy's tweet chart!

Fun ep! I love Jim Rash who fit in perfectly (I suspected he would given his background) and it gives me great pleasure that a first timer got to watch as Scott tries to pin Horatio into a corner by asking for so many details. Horatio is becoming one of my favorites because his improv comes from so far out of nowhere, it leads to some real hilarious stuff.

I got super tickled when Howard shit all over Guardians of the Galaxy. If nothing else, just because of the comments section here lately. I haven't seen it, and have heard from most that it's a really good movie, but I was secretly hoping it would draw another reaction. That really made my day! Tooooooobs Charted!

Another recent one that was really fun was Matt Gourley. Kumail always brings a great energy too.
-
I haven't had a chance to listen to this yet- do they talk about the 'incident' that got him fired?
-
I more get the impression that he is just super excited to be improvising with two people he loves to improvise with. He's got a lot of energy, and it works for me.

Ben wants to be careful with the younger listeners, and then Scott has to go and shit all over Benny's ideals and reveal to the younger listeners, with a large amount of conviction, that you can indeed snort a cream. Way to go Scott! Way to ruin our future (which is our children.)

Episode 1521 - Paul F. Tompkins
Poika replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Never Not Funny: The Jimmy Pardo Podcast
Angry Jimmy is around a lot on NNF. Most of the time it's a bit, but I've gotten the impression from listening (I just started listening when it came on to Earwolf, but have since purchased the players club and all the back episodes to Season 12 so far) that there have been a few occasions when angry Jimmy is actually angry. I find it a hilarious bit- even when he's walking the fine line between real and fake anger- but I'm guessing the times it's genuinely real it can feel a little awkward. No one likes it when Daddy's angry! -

Wahhh no player's club next week so now I have to wait over a week for a new one! Time to hit the archives. Edit: Was not aware of the New Year tradition. Whee! -
I had never heard of Kevin Avery (though I had heard of the Denzel Washington podcast) and am very glad I was introduced to him and his good humor. Many much needed laughs for me as I would cut away from my in-laws minutes at a time!

I agree except for the last sentence. When I was younger I thought that was possible, but I'm pragmatic enough now to realize that dog whistle racists will always come up with excuses not to have a real dialogue, and they have a surprisingly loud voice in our 'accepted' discourse. Who knows... maybe in a couple more generations.

Episode 1520 - Adam Ferrara

I'll say Truffle. -
I was disappointed when I saw Eric Andre was not going to be the guest because I really like him, but my feelings were soon assuaged because there is so much joy and chemistry between these three. Stard adds something really special in the interaction between Ku and Howard.

I went with Sassafras- probably won't get the answer 'til tomorrow. -
HA! Cramyear's Eve!

Everyone understanding what Howard meant when he said, "Peter North levels of blood" was killer. I didn't think it could be topped. Then he said, "But this, you say, is about stairs."

If it's Howard Kremer selling it, he's having some issues with the Ebay.

Episode 163 — Eric the Paid Intern Returns: LIVE at the UCBSunset
Poika replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
When Matt told Eric, "You sound a little wasted," I had thought the same thing like 10 seconds before! Like Matt, no judgement. I really enjoyed hearing Eric again. -
Episode 1518 - Erin Foley
Poika replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Never Not Funny: The Jimmy Pardo Podcast
This was a great episode! Jimmy predicted things might be a little off because of the residual physical effects of a 13 hour telethon coupled with an ill conceived guilt run the morning after, but nothing could have been further from the truth. Erin had a great chemistry with the show, and it made for one of my favorite episodes. Jimmy finding someone to talk baseball with was also a lot of fun, but listening to the last 3:30, between the jokes and the reactions to the jokes, had me laughing so hard I had to pause it for a couple minutes. Also, congratulations to NNF and everyone involved for such a successful telethon. I too was a little flummoxed by the donation flow and even made mention of it in the telethon comments. It was my first telethon so I wondered if people tended to give more towards the end of the show. It all panned out in the end and am so glad you were able to meet your goal and help so many people. It was a blast to watch (off and on), will buy the telethon to see the parts I missed, and look forward to #PCAT15! -
Just ordered season 12 because of this. I'm hooked on Jimmy now and this was a good excuse to get it.

I feel like a fuddy duddy, but how the hell could you mix up Motorhead with Ram Jam!? My music nerd was freaking out.

Episode 1517 - Jason Mantzoukas

GAH not up on iTunes or my feed yet. Oh well, I may have to watch the video anyway. Edit: It's up on the feed. I'm antsy for this one and I have a little pre-Thanksgiving time to kill! Edit: JESUS Jimmy! Don't it Make My Brown Eyes Blue was Crystal Gayle! -
Ebola Soup is seriously a classic bit for the ages. So perfect.
