  1. just had to watch this again for work, holy moley is this movie terrible. it's upsettingly obnoxious and gross

    some highlights:

    - Ace feeds a baby bird by vomiting into it's mouth (this happens in the first 5 minutes)

    - a close up shot of Jim Carrey touching his own eyeball

    - a gay tribesman gives Ace fuck me eyes

    - a parrot gets drunk

    - Ace crawls naked out of a robotic rhinos asshole (this craziest part of that scene, a fucking ROBOTIC RHINO!)

    - Ace drives a monster truck through the jungle, most likely demolishing tons of animals and their habitats

    - yet another gorilla rape scene!

    just bonkers

My take on Sir Richard's brilliant ruse. That ole time "Does this look infected?" gag! Get's em every time!

  3.

I felt this was the best way to express how bonkers this movie is. Words are not enough!

Silver Streak, Stir Crazy, plus he co-wrote Blazing Saddles (and was originally supposed to play the lead). He was frequently associated with crap, though.

also, brewster's millions, uptown saturday night, blue collar

and tons of other shit that are totally cult classics, car wash for example

  4. I was watching this movie last night and something weird jumped out at me (from THIS movie? Impossible, I know). It was the scene where Tim Robbins brings the girls in the band pizza and says he's there to watch them undress. Howard looks at the box and asks "What's pizza?" So since the ducks on his home planet evidently don't have pizza, what DO they eat? From our glimpses of Howard's home planet, it looks like they have everything we have on our planet (like movies, TV, music, etc.) So wouldn't they have restaurants too, especially "fast food" type restaurants the equivalent of what we have on Earth? So what would the Duck Planet equivalent be.....bowls of lettuce or something? Do the ducks on Duck Planet eat what normal waterfowl ducks would eat (grass, plants, worms, etc.) or as they have adapted to "Modern Duck" do they now eat any kind of people food? Would Howard eat a burger, for example? Have the ducks on the duck planet mastered agriculture, and know how to harvest other kinds of animals for food, or would they consider that cannibalism? Is a cow considered lower on the food chain than a duck on Duck Planet? And if they DO eat hamburgers, wouldn't they then make the logical next step conclusion and milk the cows for milk, which they could then turn into cheese and create pizza with?

The only thing we really have to go on is that Howard won't eat eggs, which makes sense. As they pointed out on the podcast, I guess seeing a bunch of eggs on a plate would be the equivalent of seeing a bunch of fetuses (although not entirely, because chickens and ducks are different creatures, but close enough I guess). This still doesn't explain though whether Howard eats any other kind of meat like a person does, and how that could possibly make sense given that his society evolved from ducks.

Howard has no teeth for what it's worth

  5. I really like Sanz on I4H, but I'm not a fan of him on CBB.

His first appearance had me in stitches, but I feel like it's been too similar of a shtick each time since.

That said, still funny. It made me laugh.

really? thats like saying andy daly isn't funny cause he's doing a similar schtick each time, or PFT for that matter.

  6. I just realized we forgot to mention the Kurt Russell dressing in drag and fooling the cops scene! which ends with him and Teri Hatcher flicking their cigarettes in the dumb dumb cop's face and some how not being beaten to death with billy clubs.

holy moley this movie is nuts

  7. I just wanna rep for these books, because they are some of the greatest fantasy fiction I've read in a long time. Harry Potter can suck it.

Golden Compass takes a while to get into with the world building and all, but they are outstanding stories, for all ages. The second and third books get super intense at times and it ends in a really lovely way -- there's no big bad guy (though there are some "bad guys" in the usual sense) or big showdown that has to happen. I was so fucking pumped to read the third one that I actually took a day off work and marathoned the whole thing at once.

I went out of my way to avoid seeing trailers or posters or anything, because the books are wonderful and I did not want anything to replace my memories of them. GO READ THEM. I'll send you mine, even.

seconded, the books are seriously great, and I have to say, so much gets said about the athiest (though they're less about there being no god then about killing god, METAL!) aspect of the novel that i think it over shadows what i think is the truely outstanding thing about that them. it's a fantasy series that actually takes advantage of the fantasy genre's natural open endedness. it's a completely unique and fully realized universe that doesn't fall back on the same old tired tolkienesque tropes and imagery that are so associated with fantasy novels.

  8. I don't know if you're aware, but Baum's book was an allegory for Game of Thrones. At the time he wrote it King Joffery cut off Ned Stark's head, and as a result there was slight rebellion, which some believed was the cause of the War of the Five Kings. At the time they thought that by adding a King in the North they could improve the state of the 7 Kingdoms. The symbolism is:

    OZ -> WesterOZ

The Yellow Brick Rd. -> The Kingsroad

The Silver slippers (in the book they're silver, not ruby) -> The Iron Throne

The tin man -> the heartless, metal-clad knights of Westeros

The scarecrow -> the well intention but ineffective Nights Watch

The cowardly lion -> the boasting, yet ultimately cowardly House Lannister

Dorothy -> the children of House Stark, lost in a strange, hostile world, perpetually yearning for home

    Toto - direwolves

  9. How has this not be recommended yet?

the plot is basically, Scott Baio gets telekinetic powers and uses them to lift up girls skirts.

plus, it has a 0% on rotten tomatoes!

the reviewer from the New York Times called it "rather retarded"

  10. you're right it's inline with the character and good roleplaying, i can totally respect that, it's why even if i find it frustrating at times i keep coming back every week

haha i guess i tend to have more of the gerry/brian "do first, think later" impulse. sir richard's "fuck it, i'm hitting the button!" moment had me cheering

  11.

Whoa whoa whoa... what? WHAT?! That makes no sense to me. Kills the fun? I don't understand.

Sarah, in my opinion, is probably the BEST player of the group. She's always trying to make sure they think two steps ahead, always trying to gather information, plays with compassion (which there's usually a strategic benefit to), and she's a bonafide badass.

Sarah's the shit. Huge asset to the team, they'd probably be dead without her.

she's definately great most of the time, but i found myself getting really frustrated with the whole "we have to go say goodbye to the people who helped us before" thing. like, you get a chance to go to some cool new place in a spaceship and you wanna go back to some boring place you've been before and are pretty much done with? fuck that survivor camp, they killed El Ryan!!! I hope Sark had them all end up being massacred because of that exact reason. but that's hardly a Sarah specific issue, there's been a few episodes where I've wanted to scream into my computer because they waste 30 minutes standing around not decideding to do something or arguing about some dumb idea when there's way more interesting shit going on.

  12. This movie was awesome and it had a good twist at the end as well.

Also, I think this is what made the Marvel writers base the new Nick Fury off of Sam Jackson. He was good in this shit.

It's so weird, he was cast as Nick Fury in the Marvel movies based on the Ultimate Marvel universe Nick Fury, who was based on Samual L Jackson.
