Al Pacino as Phil Spector
Bolognas replied to choochoo_the_wonder_slut's topic in How Did This Get Made?
That's great casting, because they have identical jowls. Once the wig is on Pacino, it's impossible to tell them apart. -
I hated this movie. Nothing that happens makes sense. Nothing that anyone does or says makes sense. The movie raises dozens of "what the fuck!?" questions, and answers none of them. I wanted badly to like this, but by the time a "rage virus" style zombie inexplicably shows up and starts murdering people, I was done with it.

This is an okay movie. I don't think it's bad or crazy enough for HDTGM. Remember the Red Hot Chili Peppers music video that was for this movie?
-
Woah, woah, woah. Hold the phone. I think you meant to say Dr. Andre Nowzick. Without that part, his history of shaft shaving is put in a different perspective.

I disagree on both counts. This movie was a joyless slog, filled with joyless characters that were difficult to care about. There was a decent amount of "what's happening!?" moments, but not enough to support a two hour run-time. The sequel, on the other hand, is amazing. Modern day Dolph in midevil times is absurd, and gives the movie the sense of fun that was totally absent in the first one. The female lead is as hilariously bad as anyone I've ever seen in a movie. The story is stupid, but followable. The ending is dumb as hell. It's the complete package.

I knew I was in for something special when the main character, a farmer, was named "Farmer."

The best moment of this episode was when June compared Burt Reynolds with the Burger King King. I also loved that she couldn't say Leelee Soblieski's name. It wasn't just the Soblieski part she struggled with either; she kept calling her "Lily."
-
Burt had probably recently watched Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, saw Sean Connery looking all badass as King Richard, and said, "fuck yeah, that's gonna be me, but more so!" He sucked big time in this movie.

This gem was recommended to me by Netflix when I had finished watching In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Seige Tale. It takes place in a distopian future, where, in order to prevent war, all emotion has been eliminated by a drug that everyone must take or be put to death. Christian Bale is the best of an elite government force trained in "gun-kata," which is karate + guns. As stupid as gunkata sounds, it's ten times stupider than that when put into action. The middle of the movie isn't as chalk full of baffling hilarity as I would have liked, but the opening sequence is hilarious, and the last fifteen minutes or so is worth the wait. If you don't have the patience to sit through this whole movie, do yourself a favor and just watch the big closing action sequences: They could do a whole show on just this five minutes. Hey, guy behind the pillar, you are not hidden from his view! He can see you!

I just finished watching the sequel. It's amazing. Present day Dolph in midevil times is the best thing ever.

In The Name of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale and its sequel, improbably starring Dolph Lundgren as a time traveler, can also both be found on Netflix Instant. I'm absolutely delighted to hear that this is the choice for next weeks show. If I could retitle this movie, I would call it "Inexplicable Ninjas," because that's my favorite part.

There are some mockable things about this movie, but I'm with the folks who think there are better candidates for HDTGM.

They could definitely do this movie. It's fucked.

The Happening - (it's never happening, but talk about it if you want)

Introducing "How Did This Not Get Made?" A new podcast that asks the question, how did the How Did This Get Made team not get this made yet? -
I'm not saying that Dr. Gakface is for sure Dan Aykroyd, but he has made one post on this message board, and it is an essay on why Nothing but Trouble makes sense and is funny. (There is literally a 100% chance that Dr Gakface is Dan Aykroyd)

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
Bolognas replied to dantheman87's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I thought this movie was really cheesy, but it didn't leave me with the, "what the fuck did I just watch?" feeling that I'm looking for in a HDTGM movie. -
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale is fucking bananas. That's a movie that could definately do for the HDTGM treatment. Lots of star power, crazy fantasy world, terrible script, etc. It's the full package. Jason Statham, the protagonist, plays a farmer, who's just called "Farmer." It has Ray Liotta really going balls out as the evil wizard. Ron Pearlman is the side-kick. Also, there's ninjas for some reason.

I saw parts of this movie on tv years ago. I remember it being insane. Am I mistaken, or do I also remember LL Cool J in army camos fighting toys?
-
It is an enjoyable movie with some intentional, and some unintentional laughs. It definately isn't a total stinker. I think it falls into the category of a Crank 2. It's an enjoyable movie, but at the same time is so over-the-top ridiculous, it demands to be made fun of. The Big Hit is basically Resevoir Dogs (guns and voilence) + The Three Stooges (silliness) + Twilight (teen love story) This movie holds some nostalgia for me, so I am biased towards it for that reason, but I think there's plenty of crazy here for the gang to work with.

Episode 57 — From Justin To Kelly: LIVE!
Bolognas replied to admin's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I'm going to add my voice to the chorus of people praising this episode. The podcast is always amazing, though, so no surprise there. What is unique about this episode, and what stood out to me as soon as it started, is how great the crowd was. The rambunctious cheering and great questions really put this one over the top.
