  1. I'm sure it's tough for old-school macho Hollywood types to make themselves vulnerable, but I really feel like Sean and Hayes should've opened up earlier to Dree about what was happening. We were almost earwitnesses to a tragedy... I'm going to have to double up on appointments with my therapist for the next couple weeks as it is!

I wish I could do the same but I've run out of You Made it Weird episodes! I'll just have to re-listen to the ones I haven't memorized yet

  2. More exploitation of mentally ill people. Great!

Someone who is not a trained professional should not be portraying a therapist. Earwolf is opening up themselves to some serious liability.

Today's caller certainly had a troubled past...but as far as I remember she didn't mention any depression or substance abuse or other problems that I would class as 'mentally ill'. Maybe we have a different definition of it.

And I didn't get the impression Chris is portraying himself as a therapist? It's been pretty clear since the start that all this podcast is is just an honest conversation that lasts an hour or less. And I think anyone in an honest conversation, when presented with a problem that they can relate to might offer some advice. I of course have no expertise in this stuff, and it would be good if you could maybe elaborate a bit about why you think these conversations might be damaging.

  3.

Oh that's right, I forget that message boards are actually optimism boards, and some people are too frail-minded to handle reading an opinion that differs from their own

Real question: were you kids homeschooled?

Opinions are like assholes, they're round... you put anchovies on em...

Hey I sometimes feel that the 'never say anything bad about a guest ever!' policy is a little much, but Myshkina-Millenia was being a real dick.

In answer to your homeschooled question, no I wasn't, but my mum (I am British lol) always told me to not be dick. I try to heed her advice wherever possible.

  4. If people start promoting themselves on the show then Gethard can just, you know, not post the episode, pretty simple. People surely understand it's not the place for plugs (this isn't a dig at you Julia, the plug part of this ep was natural and a great ending), and Gethard isn't going to invite them to lift the anonymity for anything less than an extraordinary story.

Awesome episode, keep em coming baby!

Oh yeah, and another thing I want to add is that it's really refreshing to hear interviews with people who aren't super successful, I think we just aren't exposed to in depth, real conversations with normal people enough, it's easy to exist in a bit of bubble, especially for a guy like me who's bad at small talk and isn't going to get anywhere near this level of emotional depth with most of the people I meet (and most people I meet are from a similar-ish background to me anyway.). It's a cool idea Gethard, and you're the ideal host probably. So yeah, keep it up y'all.

  5. Because of the episode's text description, this is the first time in a while I've waited until Wednesday to listen. I'm a little disappointed that I did. They tricked me! The little "Is that... that's what... that room is..." warmed my heart maybe more than it should have. I liked the episode. Thanks!

Had the same experience. Heart kinda sank when I saw it would be another solo one, but was a moment of genuine joy when Hayes came in. Also really funny how they did it! HH 4eva baby!

  6. Objectively speaking, I believe that this episode of Agata, Gabe, and July's podcast Trends With Benefits is the funniest that they've done so far. Good job gang! I am in no way biased. Just a big fan!

(PS - I guess some people pronounce "controversial" in different ways.)

I love it, only you know when you get a joke itch and it needs to be scratched? Well when Gabe says 'Ghee Fieri' and you were just talking about butter, well Ghee is an Indian cheese thing that's kinda similar to butter and I was just JONESIN for someone to come in with a 'Yeah the stage was all slippery because he's made of that Indian cheese Ghee' or whatever so can you please re record the episode and do everything exactly the same only make that comment for me. Thanks so much, S4BP

  7. Their fans seem awfully pleased with themselves for imitating that Hayes and Sean shtick. Even by making that statement, I almost expect one of them to say "Mmmm, speak on that" and "isn't that interesting?"

There are like two people doing 'nice and funny and smart' which is just a reference, don't see how they're so 'pleased with themselves', or saying 'Scott finally has some good guests', where the butt of the joke is S&H, because of course they're actually much less successful than Scott, everyone else is just doing bits as far as I can tell?

    Please speak on that.

  8. Sideways For Best Picture, your profile picture feels very rando. Are you trying to do a Skittles commercial type of thang or more of an Old Spice thang?

Also, this was a great ep. Hopefully Nick Kroll will get Hollywood Handbook some more listeners.

Well in the most of the analyses of 'Sideways' that I've seen the first point of reference was Skittles commercials. But Alexander Payne directed those Old Spice spots so I don't know what to think......

  9. I too, George my balls off on Tuesdays

Me too, on Giraffe I Clooney my football, baseball and tennis but NOT basketball because that's really not my thing, and some people like to Clooney their basketball but for me I don't want the courts getting too ruggedly handsome, it just kills my vibe and I can't dunk as much as usual.

The descendants though. What a good film by Alexander Payne (of Sideways fame).
