Stone Cold (1991)
PhillipMedoc replied to firsttimecallerlongtimelistenr's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
Not really a football guy, but that guy gave Seattle a lot of grief back in the day. He talked so much trash about everyone, acting more like a pro wrestler than a linebacker. He ended up playing for barely two years before he was forced to quit. This movie was supposed to be his big comeback. It's pretty bad, on the level of Seagal's straight to video stuff. -
"stupid def vocals by CHUBBY CHECKER" Chubby Checker would be a great DJ name. Didn't they do a thing with the Beach Boys around the same time? Wiping Out?

Any Given Sunday (1999)

Here you go: HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA my ex-wife -
This will be a good one, huzzah! Happy for LL Cool J to make his first HDTGM appearance. I saw Toys in the theater as a young 'un with my Moms and was totally confused after a while; it's not a kids movie. Who is next week's guest? Is it Ladies Love Cool James himself? I haven't listened to this yet since it's too late in the night, but... I'm excited!

Your favorite good bad movies on Netflix or Youtube
PhillipMedoc replied to EricaAsencio-Knox's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I'm cat & beard, and I endorse this message. This is a movie in which a man chops off another man's arm and beats him to death with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E7tVQM4qvk Looking at my Netflix queue right now: MST3K's The Final Sacrifice. I could watch that one all day, every day. Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo is some good 'ol eighties cheese, with a healthy dose of really cool popping and locking. Gor is your basic shitty low budget fantasy/barbarian/whatever movie, similar to Yor: Hunter From The Future. Remo Williams is an early eighties action movie that is also supposed to be a satire, I think? It's pretty funny. Forbidden World (aka Mutant) is a craptastic Corman sci-fi production with z-grade everything, including recycled footage from other movies. Some neat gore and sfx and it's entertaining. -
All the ladder jokes killed me in episode 8 (great one all around, though) but I just about died when the crew guy asked the ladder to choose between him or the lady ladder. His response of "Oh, so I guess you chose the latter, huh?" was just incredible writing. Also "We're going to add this in post, right?"

I think it's been covered pretty well in the podcast and this discussion thread and I guess you could go to that Seagal message board if you have further questions and there's always IMDB.

Aw, this is just a fun, dumb kids movie (it was for kids, right?) that I loved when I was 8 years old. I still like the Fat Boys, it's fun old school rap with lame humor. In pace requiescat, Human Beat Box.

Shark Attack 3: Megalodon (2002)
PhillipMedoc replied to the_zuck's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
And then there's this: -
I Am Here... Now actually screened in Portland with the director in attendance. We showed up late for the Fright Night remake and went into the wrong theater and saw the last few minutes of I Am Here... Now and we were incredibly confused. Took us a minute to figure out what was going on. I legally purchased a copy a while ago and have tried watching it a few times, but it fails to sustain my interest even remotely; this is coming from a guy who loves shitty movies. It needs a Rifftrax or something, like how Spoony did for After Last Season.

I showed this movie to my brother this weekend and he just about lost his fucking mind during this scene. Then when the look of disgust/confusion on my brother's face was priceless and I'm pretty sure he was looking for a gun to shoot the tv with. I got my 7" in the mail today, red vinyl because DRAGON SOUND. The instrumental version of "Against The Ninja" is my jam.

In my opinion, I think Manos is the most hyped among fans, but whatevs -- they almost all deliver. I use Blast Hardcheese as pseudonym when I sign for UPS or whatever. Their multiple names for Reb Brown is one of the best running gags ever. Thick McRunsfast!

No, you're totally correct, I guess I wasn't clear enough. Either coast is good to tour on, it's the in between stuff that is difficult, or traveling from one coast to the other. But to expound, just in California you make a stop at Sacramento, then drive south and do a couple nights in Oakland/SF. Then two or maybe three dates in LA, possibly include Long Beach and then even San Diego. That's like six or seven shows, selling merch and shit, without an inordinate amount of travel expense. It takes a lot of time and effort to book all that stuff even if you have a manager, so I think you can see why Howard Kremer hasn't taken Summahfest to NY or 'Sconsin. Dude didn't even have his Summahfest tour dates on his website, one of the admins here had to tell me when/where we was performing in Portland. Step up your intertubes game, Howard! Put those Austin Stories dvds on the Earwolf store or have an intern make a Squarespace shopping cart for them. I really feel like not a lot of people are doing the ebay like they used to. p.s. also yesyesyes on Zouks doing the VPN. Locked and loaded.

Rifftrax churned out too much material for a few years; there were some gems (their take on The Room is great) but stuff like Spiderman and Twilight, ugh. And unfortunately you can see that Mike Nelson has become slightly more cynical over the years. But recently they've been going back to their roots and doing 1970s and 1980s b-movies; I can definitely recommend Ghosthouse, Kingdom Of The Spiders (William Shatner!), and Silent Rage (Chuck Norris!).

Yeah, if you have the opportunity to go see Cinematic Titanic, do it. It was expensive, but it was on my birthday(!) and I got to shake TV Frank's hand and tell Joel thank you for the years of entertainment. They were all extremely genial and I don't think I've ever laughed so hard. On your second point, yes! A lot of people think MST3K was improvised, when (except for the very early pre-cable KTMA days) it was actually a lot of rewatching the film, taking notes, throwing around ideas in the writers room, tinkering and polishing. Some of the later season episodes have an RPM (riffs per minute, y'all) of around 15 or so, which is crazy. And they were doing a full movie every two weeks. Speaking of favorite host segments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pDem1UIBHA

"Maybe some Kulaps bouncing around..." That song was awesome, for reals. Is that trap music? I'm still figuring out what dubstep is. Pretty much all dance music sounds the same to me, not in a bad way, just that I don't understand the nuances. Like back in the late 1990s, when the thing was jungle music but also drum & bass. But they sounded exactly the same to me, even though there would have separate nights at the clubs.

I've toured with bands before, and just coming from that perspective, it's way cheaper to tour the west coast. There's a ton of cities, you can do multiple dates in LA and the Bay area versus driving or flying hundreds of miles for each separate show. Howard said recently that they broke even at best during the Summahfest tour. Unless you get guarantees -- which most performers do not get, possibly at a club like Helium or whatever -- you might lose money just based on travel, hotel, food, etc.

I never had cable when I was growing up, so I only saw bits of it here and there; in college I saw a few episodes on dvd. Then, several years ago, I went through a weird period in my life where I was single, living alone, and smoking lots of pot. For whatever reason I got on an MST3K kick, downloaded every episode, and would just have it on constantly in the background. I've seen most episodes many times; some of them I could probably recite in my sleep. I went to a live Cinematic Titanic show a few years ago and it was one of the greatest things ever. I'm glad Joel, Mike, and the gang are still doing other projects. But I still put on MST3K, it's like an old friend to me. Fave episodes are: -- Heart pounding, veins clogging, Mitchell! One of my cats is named after this one. Still probably my favorite. -- Grade A+ bad/good movie. "β« Hobgoblins, Hobgoblins, whatcha gonna do about those Hobgoblins βͺ"Pod People -- Worth it for the song/recording session and . Everything else is gravy.Manos: The Hands Of Fate -- because, duh. Otherwise no one would ever have known about this movie. Space Mutiny -- Wonderful crap on its own already, the riffing is a bonus. Reb Brown is a national treasure. Final Sacrifice -- Bizarre Canadian no budget bonkers stuff. The hero's name is "Zap Rosdower". San Francisco International -- Air traffic drama edited from 70s tv show episodes, I just like the feel of it. I think MST3K: The Movie (This Island Earth) is great as well. And almost all the Prelinger/educational shorts are gold. I just think it's great that they were able to turn out so much consistently funny material; I mean, ten seasons of anything is an incredible effort but to have it be above average quality almost all the time is amazing.

http://miamiconnection.org/ If it was a regular T, I think I would get it. I don't think I can actually rock a sleeveless. Alamo Drafthouse really delivered the goods on this. It'll be interesting to see if they give this treatment to other lost classics in the future. Maybe they can be the Criterion of Z-movies; someone needs to. FRIENDS FOREVER, ETERNITY LOYALTY. This soundtrack kicks ass.

Okay, I am super on board with this, opening night. That trailer looks awesome and the director's track record is A+++++. This will be fun.

Cosign with everyone. This one is going in the podcast keepers folder. I'm glad she's not on SNL and doing awesome creative projects all over elsewhere. I love that Howard asked, specifically, if she had any sisters -- not just siblings.

I do agree with you, but on the same hand I really enjoy creative people doing creative shit and putting it out there. I just appreciate people trying to pretty up the planet with nice things rather than do something negative or destructive. So in a certain way I just like that this movie was a thing that happened. I may or may not be accidentally positive this morning. #painmeds

Fuck yeah Cooper font, you know you're in for a good time. I just ordered the 7", hopefully they still have some in stock. I'm so tempted to buy one of these:

I didn't care much for Rubber, I kinda agree with Seanotron, but the guy is an artist and has been making creative shit for a while. Check out his music under the name Mr. Oizo (he also made this video): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmsbP13xu6k
