Top 5 movies for you personnally that they have not done yet
PhillipMedoc replied to Snake's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Ohh, I thought people just meant Jean Claude Van Damme in general. Yeah, JCVD is actually a very good movie. It's meta in a very good way, and it's pleasant to hear Van Damme actually speak his native language instead of terribly accented English (for which everyone has always assumed means he is a dum-dum). -

I've said this elsewhere in the forum, but Samurai Cop is legit one of my favorite movies. It is so above and beyond bad/good, it's totally transcendent if you're into super shitty Z-grade action movies. Buy the older DVD (not the new "remastered" one), it has an INCREDIBLE commentary track by Joe Bob Briggs. Seriously, it's so fucking good. Re: JCVD. I think they just need to do any Van Damme movie, they haven't touched his films yet and there's plenty to choose from. I think that hockey one would be as good as any. -
2 suggestions: Big Momma's House. Barry Lyndon.

Hey peeps, I wasn't lying when I said April Richardson's got style: She's got a really great fashion blog. Classy gal.

WHAT WHAT WHAT? I can't even believe he remembered my name. I didn't want to be a superfan and take a cel phone picture and blah blah blah, I was just leaving the club and he opened the green room door and stepped right in front of me. So of course I said hello, how much I appreciated the show and especially that very special Twooch he had just done. He was very focused on asking me what my name was, like a mental stenographer. Incidentally, Howard is very tall and handsome in person. But yeah, I think April was given a lot of heavy lifting seeing as how both of her appearances were live VPN episodes. She's super in her element on her own podcast, I would love to hear her on something else. For those of you who want some more April, here is her JV Club ep with her pal Janet Varney (who subsequently was on Go Bayside). Aww jeez guys, thanks. I'm all twitterpated over here.

Maybe because he was so amazed by that Summah triplicate shirt? I'd buy that for a dollar! All the talk about Molly on Whooch (and other podcasts) lately make me feel like everyone in LA is just fucking rolling all the time and super casual about it. That's really weird to me; I didn't think MDMA was just a thing you did at a party last weekend and was not a deal. Times have changed, I guess. When Miley Cyrus is singing about Molly, I don't know, that's strange. I guess it's the cultural equivalent of rock bands singing about acid or whatever back in the day, so maybe I'm just out of step. Good episode. Good chemistry. I think April should come back sometime as a guest with Kulap and Howie. Do her top five favorite Saved By The Bell episodes or something.

It's the numbah three shark movie! $367 million worldwide return on a $75 million dollar budget, not enough money? Hope Scotty made some serious dosh on that. Who's making these Whooch cartoons? They're great.

Brendon's visceral reaction to that Avicii track was awesome. Damn, I am getting kinda sick of Blurred Lines. Not on this show, just in general. I like Get Lucky better as THE summer jam of 2013.

April is so much more relaxed this time, this is great. It's coordinated so well with her dress! That lady's got style. If you look at her Go Bayside tumblr, there's a picture of her and the guest for each episode; even in casual wear she's so composed and put together.

Top 5 movies for you personnally that they have not done yet

There's many films that I would personally love for HDTGM to tackle, but I'm going to suggest ones that I think would actually work well and aren't super obscure. Southland Tales -- DO IT. Come on, seriously, this is so fucking ripe for HDTGM. It's not actually a straight up terrible film (in my opinion); it's just that there's so much packed into the movie and very little of it makes any sense. This would be an awesome one and I'm actually surprised it hasn't been done already. Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3 -- please please please oh please. This would be so much fun. GAY PUG! Dog quinceaΓ±era! xXx -- It's essentially Vin Diesel's character from Fast & Furious, but he's a juicebox and he's EXTREME in that late 90s Mountain Dew sort of way. The movie is so ridiculous, so very dumb. Maybe it would feel redundant after having done Fast 5 and 6, I dunno. Miami Connection -- it's kinda obscure, but it's on Netflix streaming and has been gaining some cult notoriety over the last couple of years. Lots of fun and totally bananas. Kung Fu Hustle -- a couple of Stephen Chow's movies he wrote/directed/acted in would be great (God of Cookery, Shaolin Soccer), but this is probably the most well known one in the West. It got a fairly large release in the States (I saw it twice in the theater) and was the highest grossing foreign language film in 2005. It's actually a fantastic movie, but its logic is very much "what is actually happening right now?" in that crazy Hong Kong action movie way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRbPXbgsKyE -

Jonathan Lethem's book on They Live is basically the most amazing thing ever. It's like that time you got your peanut butter mixed up in my chocolate. The whole Deep Focus series of books seems to be pretty great; the Heathers one was very good as well. If you want to read it, PM me and I'll send you my copy along with a breakfast burrito. (Surprisingly, no one has yet to take me up on this offer).

NECROPOSTING This one is done. It's been covered enough by many others in podcasts and commentaries and etc. There's a documentary about how bad/good it is, available on Netflix -- which has probably been seen by more people than have actually watched the film itself. There's an excellent Rifftrax for it, although this stupid fucking movie doesn't even need it. I don't mean to say that anyone shouldn't watch it, as it definitely deserves its place on the Hollywood Toilet of Fun Crap, but there's not much to say anymore. Except maybe, "OH MY GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWD".

They are, at some point. The points will get converted to actual currency. The Bing rewards thing was nice for the last year or so; I slowly accumulated a few thousand Xbawks points for free. You can also use them for Redbox rentals and other random shit. I'm not talking about the podcast and this Bing/Google thing is making me feel like how I imagine Jen Kirkman feels when she's bad at playing the Leonard Maltin game. When was Kulap on The Office? His book is super great and I recommend it to people who like to read and laugh. This is the TAL episode where he tells the story, it's the second half.

Dammit, I should have binged it with google. I have Bing set as my default search engine in Chrome because of Microsoft's rewards thing; over time I get free Xbox points (or Starbucks cards or whatever).

Oh, weird. I listened to the episode before I even bothered to see the list of guests or look at the photos. (Sitting in line at the DMV, fun). I figured Scott's fascination with Asian boobs was a riff. Also, this is depressing: Yeesh.

She said last week that she was probably going to go back to Minnesota for some additional footage. That or maybe she's going to be editing what she already shot. I hope Choctaw actually gets to see his wife once in a while. Everyone's so busy! I actually felt some relief that Kulap and Scott were both on Wompler's Birthday episode this week. I guess I probably just listen to way too many podcasts and have invented fantasy lives for all these people in my head.

Episode 69 β Crocodile Dundee In Los Angeles
PhillipMedoc replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
EarBear, you're amazing. ... It's fun to have different episode formats, we had a bunch of live ones in a row. Berry's story was fascinating and hilarious -- the fact that they actually made movie posters with "Written by Pending" is incredible. I'm curious what movie is coming up next, seeing as how it seems FYI polls have actually been inconsidered. Anyone know what the next live show is going to be? -
You know what they say about opinions -- they're not as good as squirrels. I just glad that the crew behind Who Charted is committed to providing a free podcast twice a week. Sometimes there's a guest that doesn't vibe completely, sometimes KuKu or WieWie are AWOL. But they still make sure there's a Whooch, in some form, twice a week. I think that says a lot about how much they care about their fans. The episode with April in Kulap's stead introduced me to her and her Saved By The Bell podcast, which is amazing -- I've listened to half a dozen of them already. So, that was actually an unexpected bonus.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the ArScheerio Paul show is more fun than Croc Dund. Seriously though, all y'all should check it out. There's one with June as Andrew Dice Clay, it's pretty incredible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoAQBqNS2w4

Good on you for giving it a shot. I have mixed feelings about it, but my opinion is basically the same as yours (although I honestly think Gummo is a legit great movie). Spring Breakers is the a very beautiful movie that could also double as a screen saver.

Never heard of this movie before this thread but I rented it last night. Fun, watchable movie. Although the premise is a bit silly, it jumps right into it and never really drags. Malcolm McDowell is pretty great as he hadn't entered his late career slump yet. The antagonist is well played by veteran villain actor David Warner, and Mary Steenburgen is basically playing a variation of Georgette from The Mary Tyler Moore Show. There are a few standard fish out of water tropes, although the movie doesn't dwell too long on them or try to make them into actual comedy bits. The optical effects during the time travel sequences are cool looking -- I'm a huge sucker for old school visual fx. And the time travel machine itself is delightfully dorky, looking like a glittery car snatched from a Knott's Berry Farm roller coaster. Worth a watch. Not on Netflix, but a local store rents older titles for $1. The commentary (of which I only listened to about 20 minutes of) seems pretty interesting; the director is talking with Malcolm McDowell, who is quite articulate and talkative.

Your commitment to HDTGM is commendable, sir. Please PM me your address for your complimentary breakfast burrito. I am not watching any Croc Dunds. I remember thinking how silly and kind of bad they were as a kid, and I usually didn't give a shit about anything I was watching. Looking forward to the episode though, and I'm glad it's not It's Pat because christ on a bike do we really want anyone to have to sit through that?

Hot Soccermom comes in for the top five Jaws movies chart. April is in character (hair and all) as Kelly Kapowski. There is no talk about parties that were attended by anyone. The real Werner Herzog makes a guest appearance as Cake Boss (cake boss), to count off his five favorite wood piles. Howard drops his new album, Have A Wintah. The Would You Rather theme plays instead of every other chart theme.
