One of my favorite comic authors kicking it with the HDTGM crew....I think I have the Vapors! Criminal and incognito were so magnificent I'd listen to him on a podcast with an old mop and the english teacher that spat at me in highschool.

While I do greatly enjoy and appreciate this podcast Scott did seem a tad sensitive to a two episode blip of negative reaction in a otherwise huge sea of glowing praise for the podcast. Sometimes, free or not, people will dislike artistic output and express that dislike. That's the nature of public art: would he prefer blind uncritical praise disconnected from the end product? Again, I love the podcast and have supported the live shows, but as long as the critique is respectfully articulated I don't think something being free makes it immune to comment....nor do I think that kind of uncritical feedback is helpful or gratifying to the artist involved.

Well, now the world has the expirence of someone bringing a random buddy to a D&D game. It worked out about how it always does. I appreciate the effort though, Blaine and Ken...come back soon.

Episode 252 — The Creeeeeeepy Halloween Special
AJValliant replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
This was essentially a likeable off between Stephen and Paul, I really enjoyed the dynamic, and you could tell Stephen was more comfortable in the dynamic second time through. And Paul's constant low key character breaking laughter somehow really adds to things, this was a great episode. -
It was so surreal having him grumping along beside Adomians brilliance.

And I love Brians new terribly named priest of Judas. I want to see a buddy cop movie with Damian Wyrmwood and Sir Richard.
-
Ah Nerd Poker, you make Wed good. And now I've seen Julie Andrews Boobs.
-
He's a likeable enough dude I can see it growing on me over time. I think I'll check out "you made it weird" and see what repeated exposure does.

I honestly though that they were piping in Mark Hamils joker voice during the laughing parts. It's one things to have an odd laugh, but it was like someone with severe mutltiple personalty disorder where each personality had their own jarring, fake sounding, laugh. I actually enjoyed Pete as a guest, and found him to be witty and pleasent, but the laugh(s) was distracting.

This is my first time hearing Eric Andre, witty, amible dude that had solid chemistry with Scott. I'm going to have to search out some more of his stuff.
-
While I had long adopted June into my family from HDTGM this only reaffrimed her place in my podcrew. Casey Wilson is also rolling deep with charm. That was some of the best non character banter on this show in long time. Great stuff.

It took 20 mins before the "Maise" maze joke sunk in. I was still charmed. Though I laughed much harder at Back door/Shaft teams and "Before we send you hell, old man, we're going to send you to heaven". Sometimes the cheap laughs are the best.

Oh man, starting over from the beggining paid off. It was odd to hear a guys just riff into his standup number, but Lennon as little Gary was a force of nature.

PFT is talented enough that even a dud character is entertaining, and I'm glad he's trying new things, but I can't see this one sticking around for the long haul. Though I'd absolutely be up for a second visit from the ghost of Richard Harrow.

Andy Samberg is a damn likeable guy.
-
While Admonian is always great his last two apperances have been better paced and tighter. I don't know if it's the guests he's with, or if he made a stylistic choice, but the build and nuance of his characters have been brilliant. Talented dude.

You're a good kid...a real talent...c'mer I wanna give ya a hug.

I enjoyed this greatly, and thought Jason was in top form...but did he also seem a bit drunk to anyone? Mind, I'm fully in support of all of them being tipsy for every episode, but I got the distinct impression the Scnapps had been Gotten into.

I love how you have to pay close attention to hear what Kroll as Sly is saying so the really offensive stuff has delayed impact. This was pure gold. And for some reason I lost it when he kept luring his brother in for a hug and slapping him. I am not a sophisticated man.

I am always a bit wary when first time film types show up. This was so much better than I hoped, they killed it. So witty and well suited to the format. I'm going to see The End in the theatre after this, goodwill should be rewarded.

Bad ninja, kung-fu and horror movies got me through the rough early days of puberty. This magnificent gem holds a place of honor on my terrible action movie mantle. I am looking forward to this one.

Episode 31 — Birdemic: Shock and Terror LIVE!
AJValliant replied to admin's topic in How Did This Get Made?
This has to be the greatest distance between the banality of the subject matter and the brilliance of the deconstruction. Jason creeping on her dirty feet alone was enough to justify the hour and half I spent listening. -
On second listen the moment when Harrow takes control of the would you rather game has become the high point of a fantastic series of peaks. The low key brilliance of this one really sets in second time through. And Rob does an amazing job at the under appreciated art of the straight man.
-
This is the first episode that I could not listen to all the way through. The guest was loud, unfunny, and trampled over everyone until it became a shouting match with no flow. Even Jason seemed to be losing his paitance with her. Still, out of the 30+ episodes I've listened too this was the first one that annoyed me, so they still have a crazy high average...just never let her near a mic again.

Episode 69 — Crocodile Dundee In Los Angeles
AJValliant replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Pepitone speaks way too slowly and takes way too long to set up a joke for this setting. He's shooting a breach load musket in the matrix gun fight of HDTGM. Seems like a nice dude but he brought down the energy of this one.
