With regards to Hans always eating; it's mentioned in Fast Five, when he's with Gisselle in a bikini, that he was a chain-smoker when he was younger so now he must always have something to replace the cigarettes. This is a call-back to Justin Lin's directorial debut movie in 2002 "Better Luck Tomorrow". This movie stars Han (same character and actor) as a teenager who commits crimes and is a chain-smoker. Justin Lin brought him over to the Fast and Furious franchise because they are friends in real life. Many consider "better luck tomorrow" to be a prequel in the Fast and Furious franchise because of the Hans character. Also, in "Better Luck Tomorrow" the teens mention that they lived their lives "fast and furious".
