EPISODE 72 — Ben Rodgers, DC Pierson, Dominic Dierkes, Eric Appel, Our Potential LIVE Employees
skizelo replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Hollywood Handbook
i just noticed that the boy's have a "streak" going w/ women guests, interrupted only by male employees, actual or potential. While it's great that HH is leading the brigade of women can be funny, it's interesting that S+H ONLY employ men, becoming "part of the problem". Now is that interesting? -

When Sean nicked Eric's glasses I was strongly reminded of the first RSS epi after Sean's lasic surgery when he asked why Hayes was wearing his glasses. "That's not really the reason why is it?" The various ads were pretty on point parodys of common ads and so that was groovy. I didn't get as much as a narrative as can sometimes develop w/ just one guest, but I'll have a relisten. I always get more the second time through. Good job tim at performing live, I'd have been freaking out super hard. good job too to the rest on mic, but as they're professionals it's less impressive. -

Hayes, you and Sean should do a show in Europe, it makes a bunch more sense for you two to fly over than the like, 5 europeans on here to make our way to LA. -

the first mic drop was an accident (really sweaty, slippy hands) but their apologies were drowned out by the enthusiastic response of the crowd so now people do it on purpose. this crazy world of showbiz! -

*drops the mic, but it's actually attatched to your finger by a little bit of elastic so it snaps back into your hand* -

This was an emotional rollercoaster joe because i thought your gran had to turn it off because she hated it or something. What a relief! Also, I too would like to know more about Nigel. -

Does anyone know which RSS epi has them quoting a whole bunch of Osmosis Jones? As for this episode, it was great. It's always fun to see Ehhn! Wrong! and Seth Morris has the improv chops and the boys came to him with a really funny premise. GJ all apart from Engie Sam who's the least "game" of all the engies and was also suffering from some pretty audible intestinal distress. Also, congrats to Sean for making it through the Loot Crate ad all by yourself, and congrats to the both of you for getting an ad. Good times. -

I think one of my favourite epis of RSS is #10, "Motorboatin'". The episode takes its title from a song by "Tate" Stephens, onetime winner of the voice and current media giant who's always on the top 40. I think this was one of the first epis I listened to, and it's whenever I relisten I feel the presence of the ghost of that past self, I feel when I noticed embarassingly late what they were doing w/ the "bag of salt" riff. It's a really solid episode and I heartily encourage everyone to give it the old listen. -

CLASSIC H+S bit from the old RSS days: After all these recommendations I was looking forward to the improv show, but the jokes were just so raw and from the heart I had to hide my head under my blanket [the blanket is a metaphor for satire]. Too scary! -

they do sound like they're scared sometimes, almost as if honesty in comedy is *gestures to the long-term Hollywood Handbook Heads* Tooooooo *conducts all the fans reciting the catchphrase till it's almost deafening* SCARY! -

ONCE YOU SEE the hidden arrow in Hayes' posture, you wont be able to unsee it! I dug this episode, bit sad to see the familiar lizard-brain and nerd jokes from HH rather than have the boys really push the boat out with some crazy new "running jokes". But as this epi is, I guess, an advert for the flagging HH I can see why they'd give a representative sampling and I hope it works out as I really love that show. It's hard for me to assess the epi qua a WSGLL, but I enjoyed it, as I've enjoyed the rest of the series (never said so before). e: I've also never seen it, though I believe it's good. Will probably catch it on TV when it's shown. Didn't really hinder me in appreciating the epi, as I've seen Reservoir Dogs. -

There was an episode of the chris gethard show where chris got the teenz on and talked about them, which i guess was then talked about on their show. -

I think the satire is lazy thing is funny because it's like, they heard the new sincerity thing against irony and then jumbled up the terms. They called him WhatAreYouYaking(ie Barfing)? Three Times, who got that nickname because he posted everything thrice. -

I'm relistening to the classic RSS episoce "Filipino Gollum" and Jen Statsky was a great guest, really worked well w/ the boys. I think she might be New York based so Earwolf would probably have to spring for first-class airfare both ways, but what's a little sugar for their #1 show? -

One of the things that well-listened podcasts do is watch and then talk about youtube videos. I'm talking your Improv for humans, your Fogeynest Files, your Totally Lames (RIP). People LOVE to listen to a video of some dingus having a camera pointed at them, and I think the video Hayes+Sean should talk about is this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poi0Mcenmek -
