    Episode 187.5 - Minisode 187.5

finally saw The Villainess ... I loved it. I couldn't follow half of it and some of it was so-so but when it was good it was really good. the action/cinematography/choreography would make Neveldine & Taylor jealous. it's a bit overlong but well worth a watch. the lead, Kim Ok-bin, kicks ass ... I'm exhausted

    Episode 186.5 - Minisode 186.5

I'm looking forward to this. any idea if it's a premium show? hope it's not. I do have a few questions though: is it going to be 100 episodes or will there be a few movies covered per episode? is it going to be weekly/fortnightly/monthly? will there be guests? how often do they update the top 100 list? I just looked at it there and the most recent movie is from 2001. there's been no worthy movie in the last 17 years? it says it's the 2007 list ... it hasn't been updated in 11 years? also, who are the AFI? any idea of the demographics of its members? and what criteria do they use when voting? any way ... looking at the list I've only seen a disappointing 52 out of the 100. there's a few I think I saw when I was young or a few i think i've seen so many clips from that i can't say for sure if i've seen it ... but I didn't want to click on it unless I could 100% say I saw it. there's a few on there i am shocked i still haven't seen. I've got a lot of viewing to do ... good times

    Episode 186.5 - Minisode 186.5

hmmm ... sure ... if you say so ... More useless facts: this was released in 2013, same as Adore, making it the 2nd 2013 movie in 3 eps. The previous 2013 movie was Safe Haven (Ep 105). Brings 2013's total to 7 HDTGM movies: Fast 6, After Earth, Sharknado, TP's Temptation, Safe Haven, Adore, Beautiful Creatures

that reminds me .. i saw monster trucks and i loved it ... it was alot of fun. jane levy was excellent as always. and i also watched the new power rangers movie. it wasn't that bad. the end battle was rubbish but up to that point it was more good than bad. there are actually some very good moments in it. i mean it has alot more faults than monster trucks but it wasn't a bad double bill for a rainy sunday.

    Episode 186.5 - Minisode 186.5

there's 3 branches of a second hand entertainment retailer in my area, i've passed this over so many times in each branch even though they were selling it for 50c ... on bluray ... after listening to the announcement i looked up their site and there isn't a copy to be had anywhere near me ... i wonder if there's a load of HDTGM fans around me and i don't even know it ... or maybe the store just threw the disks away to make room for something that might actually sell??? either way .. D'OHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

    Episode 184.5 - Minisode 184.5

yeah, i don't like that working for nothing business. i mean i get that it's experience but you have to pay someone if they work for you. i'm not saying you have to pay them a fortune but you should pay them enough so they can live. so they don't have to get a second job just to cover the bills. or borrow money ... if someone is helping you be more productive or are productive on their own then i think you have to pay them. are they generally full time. as in 9 to 5 type hours. or are they more part time? you said you were offered one in college so that was part time? any part time job i had during college was paid. not a lot but something. i'm sure most employers are great and look after their interns and the interns get great experience and maybe more importantly, they make amazing connections but there must be some people exploiting the system. i hope any employer who uses interns are monitored in some way. i know this is different but the government here used a similar program unemployment got high here after the 2008 crash and it was a bit of a disaster. people on the dole were pretty much forced to take positions in companies to "gain experience" for 6 months ... employers just used it to get cheap labour. the program actually ended up costing people full time jobs. companies would bring people in for 6 months and then let them go and then bring another person in for a further 6 months and so on. so they'd actually have enough work within the company to justify hiring a full time employee but it was way cheaper to just bring in "interns" ... the government paid their wages, they didn't have to pay any taxes or contribute to pensions or health care ... win win for the company but the interns were left with nothing but "experience" at the end of it and then had to sign back on the dole ... needless to say that program is now gone. there were alot of other problems with the scheme too but this is not the place. i was just wondering was your intern system the same. by the sounds of it its not. the interns actually benefit from the positions and the positions are in fields they are interested in. that's vey important. and i would imagine an internship at a place like earwolf is incredibly sought after. i'd nearly apply for one myself only i'm way too old and you know ... 5000 miles away

    Episode 184.5 - Minisode 184.5

i always thought, at least for the last year or so, that it was more the interns picking the movies and every now and then paul would pick one or, like the above examples, the guest or friends would suggest one. maybe the interns go through the recommendations sections and pick a few to suggest to paul. whichever way i definitely think it's a collaborative thing. one person can have only so much knowledge of crappy movies. side note ... anyone see the new earwolf la offices? ...very fancy ... the paywall is working out by the looks of things. [click on their stories on their instagram] . it got me thinking. i don't actually know a whole lot about earwolf. how many offices/studios do they have? looking at all the office space it must be a pretty big operation at this stage. and there are a lot more people working there than i thought. i'm going to ask a question that has nothing to do with movies but how do internships work there? we don't have interns here but i've alway heard about interns on tv and stuff. what i'm asking is do kids go through college and then do a few years of an internship? or is it instead of college? do they get paid? .. that kind of thing. it seems to be a very common program (at least in the entertainment industry) but i know little of it other than it exists.

    Episode 184.5 - Minisode 184.5

there has been a show on in the UK for the last few years called Taskmaster. some of you may have heard of it. for those who haven't, it's honestly one of the funniest shows in years. i'm writing this because ye are about to get your and even though there are some hilarious people involved, including the creator of the show, Alex Horne, it looks ... let's be polite ... a little too polished ... it's very bright .. and scripted ... but fingers crossed it's as funny as the UK version but before it comes out there i'd like to suggest to everyone to go back and watch the original. it's on UKTV Play for free (you'll need a VPN from outside the UK) ... i'm tempted to go back and watch it again. reggie watts has a huge set of shoes to fill ..literally ... watching Greg Davis giving someone a bollocking for failing a stupid task is hilarious ... and every guest on it was brilliant. it had some of the funniest people in the UK and Ireland on it ... i'm building it up too much .. just go watch and hopefully you'll enjoy it.

    Episode 184.5 - Minisode 184.5

i don't think it is. if there is a twist i doubt it's gonna be anything like safe haven's and it can't be as stupid as boy next door surely. i remember it getting some terrible reviews when it came out so i've avoided it. it was a sundance favourite when it was released as "Two mothers" but it was downhill after that. i just thought it was one of those let's try to be scandalous but really it's just a dumb movie for randy people .. i guess we'll have to watch it to see what the guest was thinking. and i'm not sure this is the first movie picked by a guest ... i thought there was at least one other ... was it one of the live shows from a while back?? i've been feeling like this for a while. i've avoided hdtgm on social media because of it. i'm not giving out about them posting the upcoming movies for the live shows .. the people going need to know .. but it definitely takes away from the buzz of the announcement ... like this one. when paul introduced it i was like "adore? is it adore? it is adore!!! why are they doing adore???" ... it was a fun moment and i miss that. and i'm assuming since this wasn't announced previously it's a studio episode and that maybe june was there? the whole gang back together ... and maybe paul disappoints june by getting caught up in the randiness of it all with jason... they're some of my favourite moments.

    Episode 184.5 - Minisode 184.5

adore? i didn't think it was a HDTGM movie. i've passed it over many times on my to watch list. i don't even think it's in the "bad movie recommendations" section. SlidePocket is going to have to open up a new rec thread. and it's on netflix over here!!! .. that hasn't happened in a while ... i think the last HDTGM movie available on our netflix was bodyparts .... which is exactly a year ago ... a bit of a useless stat there if paul is reading.

How Did this Get Graphed?: The HDTGM Infographic Project

i just think after a period of time those who keep track of these things move on. there are too many movies. i don't really believe any of the box office figures pre computerisation are accurate anyway and even once it kicked in it wasn't world wide so who knows. that's another reason for a lot of our differences i'd say. i'm from outside the US so i took the global box office where available. for a lot of the movies covered over the years, there isn't any box office info at all. but as everything becomes more connected the figures will become more accurate. but not for old movies. there's just no point. collecting and keeping the records would probably cost more than the movies make from screenings. and there is another possible reason ... the amount of times a movie can change ownership is crazy. i was watching this video about it's a wonderful life and it's copyright .. i don't know how they keep track of who owns what. we see similar discussions with Disney buying up everything or the Weinstein company selling everything off. the amount of "swapping" of movie catalogues is worth a study in itself.

How Did this Get Graphed?: The HDTGM Infographic Project

maybe officially but it's hard to get up to date info for re-releases etc. there's plenty of special screenings of loads of old movies but none of them are updated either. too small a market
