i'm going to post this here and in the howdies thread and then again maybe when the howdies get released: i was going to save this till closer to the date of the howdies but the euros started last night so i might be abit distracted over the next few week. so here it goes ... some of you might remember i made a site with a "beat the intro" type quiz based on pauls intros to every episode and also i made a little hdtgm based memory game. well in honor of the 2nd howdies i put both of them onto the one site and added another couple of things: i know jason loves jigsaws so i made a really basic, and i mean basic, jigsaw puzzle site where you have to reassemble the posters from the movies covered by paul, june and jason. and i put together a howdies 2 wordsearch (you'll have to print this out or else destroy your screen .. it's up to you) so if you're interested click on the banner ... enjoy oh .. and if you find any issues or have some suggestions let me know ... i'll probably ignore them but if ireland get knocked out early i might have some free time on my hands in about 2 weeks. btw ... i only looked at this on a laptop so i have no idea how it will look on a tablet/phone or how the functionality is effected on same. -

speaking of drinking .. the scene where we see garrett pull upto claires place and we see garrett and claire come in the door we kinda get to hear garrett crack one of those stupid jokes ... this is the punchline .. i dont want to know the start of the joke .. but anyway. after they come in they end up kissing but she pushes him away saying shes not ready blah blah blah and he agrees to slow things down but instead of leaving he wipes some sweat off his forehead and says "i think ive had one too many". claire giggles and garrett asks "can i crash on the couch?" maybe its an in-joke between them or something but if he's too drunk to drive home to his own place then surely he was too drunk to drive to claires house with claire in the passenger seat? ... not only is he putting their lives at risk but also every other poor sod that happened to be in their path ... and she laughed about it? ... everyone in this movie is an asshole! -

wikipedia they only cut 2 seconds out but what a 2 seconds... "The film was released on January 23, 2015. It runs for approximately 90 minutes and was given an R rating from the MPAA for "violence, sexual content/nudity, and language".[28] A BBFC classification, dated February 9, 2015, gives the film a 15 certificate for "strong violence, threat, very strong language". The film's UK distributors, also Universal Studios, chose to remove two seconds of material, the eye gouging scene, in order to obtain a 15." -

i found a blog where someone reads scripts that are floating around hollywood. the author reviewd the script for this back in november 2011. they give a few details about it and noah was indeed supposed to be 17. i really think this little detail would have made the whole thing more interesting. but i was wondering why they changed his age at all ... was it a studio thing, did they not want to have a sexual thriller thing with someone who was underage. or maybe Jlo didnt want to be seen to have a sex scene with an underaged boy. or maybe they hired guzman and someone pointed out he did not look like he was 17 ... maybe blake can find out ... -

i had this in the mini thread but its just funny to me so here it goes if google "iliad first edition" ... all that comes up is references to this movie ... i love that and theres two interesting things in the buzzfeed article: the writers take: "And one of the people complaining was the film’s screenwriter, Barbara Curry, who told Fusion that she was not responsible for the scene in question. “Much of my original script was rewritten by the producers and the director,” she said. “As for the first edition Iliad reference in the movie, that was not something I wrote in my original script.”" and the directors take: "While the Iliad-based audience criticism irked Cohen a bit, he said, “That tells me they’re watching and listening and thinking and they’re engaged; even if they think we’re idiots, I’m not an idiot. I’m a book collector and I know about first editions.”" edit: sorry smigg ... just saw you beat me to it.- 234 replies

jason hit on this in the episode but it really annoyed me. things happen in this movie and are then completely forgotten about. there are no follow ups to anything. i mean there are no consequences to anything in this movie (apart form, you know, the epi pen to the eye thing). examples: - BND (boy next door) sends the email to get himself into jlos class ... she asks her son did he send it? -- thats it. (why would the son send it) - BND beats the shit outta the red head bully. puts his head through a locker ... he's a 20 year old beating up a kid ... nothing Jlo never asks the BND about any of this. never confronts him. nothing! - BND sleeps with the sons dream girl ... , son never finds out, again ... no follow up - breaks cut in the car, fair enough the dad and son dont know that the BND had anything to do with it but the whole thing is just glossed over in a second. no call back. - son nearly dies in the gym .. we never see Jlo or dad get told or show any concern ... nothing ... - Jlo goes to an evidence yard and meets the guy from the dharma initiative. he just shows her around ... no worries ... contaminate every item in the yard to make sure none of it can ever be used in a trial .. then jlo asks "was that a 06 minivan", "yes it was" replies dharma guy. and jlo walks away. like shes dropping the mic or something. this strange woman knows something about a case and dharma guy just lets her walk away? would love to see a first draft of this script and compare it to what ended up on screen. i'd say most of this was cut to make the 90 minutes or something. -

Doug Loves Movies Challenge
firsttimecallerlongtimelistenr replied to RyanSz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
i kept a spreadsheet last year. i recorded all dougs movies on the same sheet along with a running total run time for our adventure. my 365 movies took up a total of 25.35 days where as doug took 26.09 days to complete it. its pretty shocking when you think about. it took me ages to watch a movie after i reached 365. i was burned out. before the challenge i used to watch 3 or 4 movies a week, now im happy watching one. and my health hasnt been right since. im serious, ive never been to the doctor so much before last year. and i mean he's a nice enough fella but im sick of seeing him -

im pretty sure there is a longer cut of it out there and the studio said "nobody is going to be able to sit through more than 90 minutes of this rubbish so cut out every second scene". the way things happen and are never discussed again drove me mad. ill save this rant for the ep thread but i need to vent ... it's not good bad and its worse than bad bad .. how did this make so much money??? the power of celebrity and a good publicity team? -
