found an article about a set visit for this. http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/165/a-visit-to-the-set-of-the-covenant/ the author said they had to build a 40ft cliff top so the lads could jump off it (the opening scene) and the rest of the area was green screened. that was pretty evident from the movie itself but my question is ... why did it need to be 40ft high if it was all green screened? could have been 5 - 10 feet high and you could have achieved the same thing. also in the article it says the actors did alot of their own stunts especially the wire work. which is commendable. but it also says Laura Ramsey had to do some unusual stuff: “I’m training for that right now. It’s going to be shot under water. I’m going to be in the air floating and they want my clothes and hair floating, so they’re going to shoot it under water and then digitally put it in the bedroom. I’m training to use the respirator like if you went diving under water. I’ll be in a harness doing circles underwater with the wax up my nose so there are no bubbles. The other scene, when I’m in the barn floating, I’m going to be harnessed but I’m supposed to be straight across laying and it’s really hard on your back, so they made a cast of my body so I can lay straight.” i couldn't remember her floating in any of the bedroom scenes. this was the closest i could find to what she described: that seems like alot of prep work for 2 seconds of screen time. maybe it got cut or something (maybe they used it for the barn scene instead) but i wonder how the actress felt after going through the training and discomfort ... for this? its a short article but its worth a read. you kinda get a glimpse into Rennys thoughts on a few things

there are a couple of lines of dialogue in this that prove it was written by a middled aged man : when caleb is showing sarah around ipswich in his car: sarah: "kate told me he (calebs dad) passed away" caleb: "you .. you and kate talk about me?" sarah smiles shyly sarah: "well, you know, just girls stuff" ok, she was caught out here so its maybe excusable. but in the bar scene when all the dudes start playing foosball: sarah: "wait, what just happened?" kate: "what??" sarah: "we were here, sitting together (boys and girls) and now we are here watching them (the boys) having fun" kate" "that's what girls do ... you know boys and their toys" then kate goes and plays "I love rock'n'roll" on the jukebox and everyone starts to dance. two more highly cringe worthy moments someone helpfully put the clip up on youtube. the description includes "The song is just perfect fot this scene". must be a fan

there was a 6 minute period in the movie where it was nearly all handshakes ... and not normal handshakes but stupid "yo dude" handshakes ... i think kitsch even gives his girlfriend one ... (not sure if this will play everywhere)

i ask this as a man whos hair is retreating towards the rear of his head at an alarming rate: a good few years ago my dad cut half his baby finger off when he was cutting a neighbours hedge but even to this day he claims he sometimes gets a "phantom itch" and can feel the missing finger tip. is this the same with hair. do bald people sometimes feel like their now missing hair is getting onto their face? ... i only ask cause.... sorry .. now for the serious question. when you were on the Pardcast-a-Thon, which was hilarious, was that all improv? i really enjoyed it but i have no idea how ye do it.

i love the original so this is a hugely biased view from a cranky old man ... i wasnt expecting such a reboot ... i dont like reboots or remakes or whatever they call em. just acknowledge the original and move on from there. theres alot of things taken from the original in this trailer (someone getting slimed, the subway scene, the car gag etc). im just hoping this movie wont be filled with stuff like that. and i know i sound like a broken record here (i threw abit of a hissy fit in the jurassic world thread) but even the amount of product placement in this trailer is annoying me. in saying all that ... i really want to see it. i love the cast, especially kate. love her on SNL. and paul fieg is great so fingers crossed its good, and if its not ill just rewatch the old one again ...
