i saw this trailer when i went to see baby driver but the movie only came out over here this weekend. i'm not saying this is a movie worth watching but i wanted to comment on the trailer. i've moaned before about how bad trailers are now and how they show you too much but this takes it to a whole other level. i know i haven't seen the movie but i'm pretty sure they basically showed you 90% of the movie. i'm guessing there's a nicolas sparks type twist at the end but this is ridiculous. -

it's a bit quiet here this week so i'm gona throw this out here now rather than wait till wednesday ... i watched "doomed! the untold story of rodger cormans fantastic four". you've probably heard of it or seen it. here's the trailer: i actually really enjoyed the doc. everyone involved with making the movie really put their hearts into it. i know it's a one sided view of it but they really got shafted. anyway, i was just wondering if anyone has watched the unreleased movie. is it worth watching. i'm sure it's been covered on other podcasts but is it worth the HDTGM treatment? it can't be any worse than the star wars holiday special... or the garbage pail kids for that matter .. and there's a pretty good copy of it on youtube so it's widely available ... again, unlike the garbage pail kids. or is it just too easy a target? -

repeated rant alert: i know there's bad copies on youtube but availability should be considered when picking these movies. it would be nice to see a good copy of it. this one isn't even available for you guys in the states. there are so many crappy movies on hulu and netflix .. and that's free! -

i'm struggling to think at what ages i saw what movies ... i can't remember any specific movie that was an "omg i can't believe my parents are letting me watch this!". i grew up when vhs wasn't really an affordable thing but once we got one i saw alot of the classic 80s action movies that were probably over 18's. i remember watching predator with my brother (older) and my mother on a night when my dad was working and having to hide behind a cushion when the monster came on screen. i also remember being about 10 minutes into the hitcher and my dad coming into the room and turning it off. probably a wise decision. he didn't always get it right though. my aunt and uncle visited with my cousins one christmas. my cousins were both under 10 at the time and they were acting up so my dad decided to put on one of my dvd's for them. he came out of the front room and this is how the conversation went: dad "that will keep them quiet for a while" me "that's good. which dvd did you put on?" dad "i don't know what it was ... what was it called?? ... oh, bad santa" me "hahahah, we'd better turn that off dad ..." it was fairly easy for my parents to monitor what we were watching. we only had one tv and 2 channels. then video came out and then the multi-channel (you call it cable). but once we got a tv in our rooms that was it. they lost most of their control. but we were well into our teens by then. i pity parents these days. with everything available on phones it must be near impossible to control kids viewings. i've got no problem with porn, as long as everyone's of age and consenting, but it's definitely adult content. it can be damaging, especially to young brains. i mean we all probably found some magazines in the woods or watched a porno or two before we should have but the amount of content out there now and the ease of access must terrify parents. and even if you put some controls on your own kids tech you can't do anything about their friends phones/tablets .. i mean imagine if you had a kid this year. what kind of technology will they be using in 10 years??? not trying to scare anyone or anything .. cough .. Cameron H .. cough .. Paul S ... -

it's nearly 230am here so bear that in mind when you read this ... i just watched sharknado 5 and it's actually not bad. it's far from good but there are some fun moments in it. so i know what you're going to ask me. is it as bad as part 4? well it turns out i can't remember anything about part 4 so i couldn't tell you but what i will say is that it's not as self aware as parts 2 and 3. it's more like part 1 in that they play it pretty straight. the first half is set mostly in london so if you don't know your british celebs you wont have a clue who most of the cameos are but that doesn't really matter because no one, apart from the main cast, lives longer than about a minute. the shark effects are much worse than any of the previous efforts but that's because of the scale of it. it is literally global. it hops from one part of the world to another in a flash and the action keeps building. they probably had the same FX budget as any of the other installments but they had to try and do way more with it. some of it looks terrible. the second half is definitely more fun than the first and that's where all the money was spent. there are also a few cameos in the second half that will bring a smile to any HDTGM fan. i actually laughed a few times and by the end i was enjoying it. in saying that i am not recommending anyone watch it cause you'll probably hate it but if you're up late and need to fill 90mins you could do worse. there's a couple of bits at the end that i really want to mention but i won't spoil it. i'm sure the gang would be able to make a great episode out of it but i'm not sure there's any point at this stage. i would like to hear paul's review though so if you're out there paul, and would like to fill a few minutes of a future mini, just an idea ... just don't blame me if you hate it. -

i said before that i'm trying to listen to all the previous minis and episodes in this calendar year. i kinda stopped for a few months but i'm back into it again. it's alot of fun and it's really making me want to watch some of the movies back again but what's really fun is hearing everyone's first mention in the C&O section. plan b's came up yesterday. my first shout out was actually in the old facebook Q & A(ids) section ... and of course paul got my name wrong (alex instead of alan). it made me laugh then and it made me laugh when i listened to it again yesterday. -

that's fair enough. like i said i only listened to the first 2 episodes so it should only be taken in that context. i can't remember specifics but i was angered by the humor and the lack of research. you shouldn't publish true crime stories without being as factual as you possibly can and without full respect for the subject matter. i believe it to be in bad taste to be honest. i really don't think humor is the best vehicle for true crime. i'm sure we've all indulged in "gallows humor" when discussing heavy stuff like this with friends but i would never publish it. in saying that, if they were talking about fictional crime i wouldn't have a problem about it. i have a similar problem with some other true crime podcasts. some of them are close to a sort of crime pornography (probably not the best turn of phrase there but some people seem to get off on the details). sword and scale is coming to mind. i mean it's nothing new but it's a mass market thing now and i've developed a problem with it. the only crime podcast i listen to anymore is criminal. i think they do it well and in the correct tone. i haven't listened to a whole lot of crime podcasts in about a year to be honest. i just think it's not being done properly by alot of people. they're searching out unsolved cases or cases where they believe the wrong person has been convicted and they're making some very strong cases against people who they think are really responsible for the crime. serial is a prime example of this. i have no idea if adnan killed hae min but i can see why he was convicted (i can also see why people believe him to be innocent). but to go out and turn so many people against this jay guy ... that's so dangerous. he might have been the one who killed her, i've no idea, but he was thrown to the wolves by, at best, amateur detectives. this put him and his family in alot danger and must have scared the s##t out of them. and it's been copied over and over again. i've been sucked in myself by these shows. making a murder is another one. i had to stop listening to/watching them. but that's just my opinion. to each their own. people get offended by different things i guess -

at the risk of pissing some people off ... i enjoyed her contribution on this episode but i can't recommend my favorite murder to anyone. I tried listening to it but as i listened to episode 1 i got very angry. i thought both hosts were less than well informed about their content (which is unacceptable for me with the content being discussed) and i can't figure out why people think making jokes about murderers and rapist is acceptable. i kept thinking of the families of the victims listening in and hearing it. and the thought of a whole crowd laughing at one of their live shows annoys me. i've no doubt some of the murderers would love the idea of it though. i got about half way through episode 2 and i had to stop. i know i'm in the minority about this and the clue is in the title but it's just not for me. maybe they improved their research as it got more popular but i'll never get past the use of humor for true crime. it's all just too horrible and tragic. -

yeah. i stayed away from the trailers and write ups so it was all new to me. it's definitely 30 mins too long. more john wick 2 than john wick 1 but john wick 2 is well worth a see too. -

just back from Atomic Blonde. It's ok. abit slow in places but once it kicks off it's very good. Charlize's accent isn't great (when it's there) but other than that she's amazing. the fight scenes are nuts. and i love when James McEvoy plays crazy! worth a watch but don't sit in the front row.... i got there late -

i only saw this for the first time today and now i'm wondering why. it's well worth a watch. i didn't even notice the 80 odd minutes going by. it's worth watching just for the final battle alone. hopefully it gets some HDTGM attention in the future so i'll have an excuse to rewatch it -

Donna says that there has never been a snake on the island but for some reason there were 2 snakes in the warehouse that day. we're told one, a healthy one, was going to the wildlife park for display. but what's the plan with the second one. where were they delivering the deadly contaminated snake to? and why would you risk sending a deadly diseased snake anywhere when you know it's going to be dead in a couple of days. just leave it where it is and let it die and then get rid of it. there was so much work went in to get that snake into the house just so they could make a crappy jaws pun and blow it's head off with a rocket. the whole snake plot was completely unnecessary .. but totally worth it! -
