  1. i was watching the turtles documentary on netflix the other night (which was awesome by the way). turns out michael ian black did a stint as raphael (albeit in the promo crew for the live tour). maybe because he literally had an inside view of all the turtle madness at the time he might be a good guest? i really enjoyed him on the anaconda episode. anyways, heres a clip:

  2. Have you tried iTunes? It's also available to rent on YouTube.

yeah, tried both but i live in ireland and for some reason warner dont want us to rent it. cant get it on youtube here and its listed as 20 quid on itunes. thats too much. youd think in 2015 all these regional issues would be sorted for movies from 1996.

thanks for the reply though. ill keep an eye out in the bargin bins. or it might turn up on tv sometime.

  3. this hasnt happened for a while but does anyone living outside the US (im in ireland) know where i can stream this? cant find it anywhere. Its even hard to find on DVD, unless i pay 20 quid for it, and i cant do that so this might be the first ep i skip.

i did see it back in the 90s but i just cant remember any of it.

also, i always get this mixed up in my head with the ghost and the darkness for some reason

    • THE CLOSE UP OF THE DAUGHTER'S MAKEUP, Y'ALL! She hides her face and then turns around and BOOM goth makeup galore! I expected them both to start seriously screaming like this was some horror movie.

one of my fav moments from the whole film. i burst out laughing at this moment

  4. and one more thing about the hygiene in this movie.... did you notice that when they were doing the operation, one of the most advanced operations ever performed, there were 4 or 5 shots of travoltas hair being restyled to look like cages. the bandages weren't even on properly ... imagine that conversation in the operation room ... "ok, now that i have loosely placed these bandages over the freshly transplanted face i will now move aside and allow my hairdresser to come in to colour and style the hair"

i know they were in a hurry but ...

  5. How would you even go about doing that? I understand abdominoplasty and liposuction, but what would they do, just put a hose in him and just pump 15-20 pounds of body fat back into him? That can't be healthy.

thats been rolling around my head since i saw this film, and if i might be so bold as to just add a few other points ..

so they sucked the fat out of Travolta and shaped his body to look like Nic Cage's body

then Cage transforms into Travolta .. so did Cage have to have Travoltas fat pumped into him?

And after Cage is killed at the end, did they then suck the fat out of his dead body and pump it back into Travolta?

and the writers were worrying about getting an infection from a microchip???

ohhh .. and maybe some of the fat they pumped back into cage somehow contained some nic cage "Essence" and that would explain the ending that was cut????

  7. I bought a box of 20 DVDs years ago for about a tenner. I never actually watched any of them though, so when i found the boxset today i said id try one out for fun... wow .. this pile of crap is a real rival for the room .. its actually bizarre ... i mean its terrible but worth a look if you just want to see something crazy

    2 noteworthy moments:

    1. When someone goes crazy and tries to break a tv

    2. The out takes at the end are weird .. i cant explain it ... its like they are taking a dig at the film maker or something .. and why are there even out takes in the first place .. plus theres a sex scene in the movie and there is also an out take from it and im pretty sure the out take is longer than the scene that was used in the movie

maybe if someone can find it they can tell me if its intentionally bad or if it just turned out that way

  8. colm meaney is up there with brendan gleeson when it comes to great irish actors. if you want to see him at his funniest he plays the dad in the barrytown trilogy of films. most people have heard of the commitments but there are two other films to accompany it. they are not really sequels but they are all set in the same part of dublin, barrytown.

the 3 films are the commitments, the snapper and the van.

in my opinion the funniest of the 3, and probably the funniest irish film full stop, is the snapper. if you can track down a copy of it states side you wont regret it. (but you might need the closed captions on)

this trailer doesnt do it justice but it at least gives you an idea

  9. i remember this came out the year i had a summer job in a packaging company and alot of the lads who i worked with saw it before i did. they drove me mad with spoilers but what i really remember them talking about (besides how amazing monica potter looked) were the bunny scenes.

for weeks all i heard was "Make a move and the bunny gets it"

    malk+bunny.gif

and as we worked in a packaging firm the most quoted line was:

  10. there was a show on channel 5 (UK) last weekend, the ultimate top 40 action movies or something, and they had an interview with Simon West. He said his first meeting with Jerry Bruckheimer consisted of Bruckheimer giving him 3 scripts and telling him to pick one to make. So he picked Con Air. Good choice ..

Then he went on to discuss the making of the film. Going back to Paul's point about the script changing every day, West said he kept getting told by Bruckheimer that they needed extra action .. more explosions ... because as they were making this movie, other movies like The Rock, Mission: Impossible, Independence Day, etc were released, so Bruckheimer wanted to make Con Air bigger than any of them.

Then he finished by saying the scene where the plane crashed into the Sands was all due to lucky timing. The Sands was actually due to be demolished at the same time they were filming this and when the production team heard this they got the owners of the Sands to postpone the demolition for a month or something so they could film the plane crash scene. They set up all the cameras and just rammed the front of a plane into the building. All one shot .. i think he said that it was a 5 million dollar action scene (or some such stupid amount of money)

  11. Using my twos clues I'm putting this together, Jason said "We should call this whole evening Thank God This Got Made because both of these movies are awesome." Face/Off confirmed.

If it was already confirmed in the minisode or end of this one, I'll feel dumb.

they recorded face/off and con air on the same night.

  12. i enjoyed monsters. when you look at the budget you can see how the director got the godzilla job (now that was a boring film). monsters was abit slow moving but i guess that was a reflection of the budget. there is a sequel coming out soon .. looks like they spent abit more on it
