Which Movies Does HDTGM Absolutely Need To Review?

I know everyone says that his movies got worse and worse after Signs, but I feel like they sustain the same amount of absurdity throughout. I haven't seen his last few, but I remember seeing the Village and Lady in the Water in theaters and not thinking they were as awful as everyone was saying they were... not to say that his movies, or any movie for that matter, don't deserve the HDTGM treatment. in other words, I feel like as time passes and his name loses the connotation it currently has, his films will be re-assessed. not saying I fully enjoy his movies, but there's a definite degree of piling on when it comes to M. Night Shyamalan. lots of directors who make surreal movies don't experience any praise for their work in their lifetime and every filmmaker has a formula to their movies if you look hard enough. plus, you have to give him some props for the fact that he continues to make movies when just his name is pretty much a punchline these days.

Episode 291 β€” Summer Haunted House

I knew when he said that I recognized it from somewhere I couldn't place... thanks for clearing that up

Episode 291 β€” Summer Haunted House

good stuff, the most well-produced plugs song they've ever played on the show by far. did you write that for CBB as a Pixies pastiche or is it on an existing album and it just happens to sound that way?

    Episode 86.5 β€” Minisode 86.5

he also toured with Oingo Boingo's and played on their last album... which explains a lot about the song if you're familiar with their music. there's an early episode of Who Charted with Warren Fitzgerald, I'm pretty sure they discuss it at some point http://www.earwolf.c...erry-lemon-dew/

    Episode 86.5 β€” Minisode 86.5

ever since Paul mentioned people thinking Adam Scott sings the theme song in an earlier mini-episode, I picture him singing it. every time.

    Episode 14 β€” Staind Glass

agreed, but he should be more worried about playing Prince songs on CBB... he's litigious as fuck.

    Thanks for the Friendship

it's tough, kid, but it's life...
  13. not necessarily specific to a comedian, but my dream podcast would simply be Talk Talk Talk... where the Scotts discuss the wonderful, underrated band Talk Talk. (could be pronounced Talk Talk Talk OR Talk Talk Talk)

    Episode 14 β€” Staind Glass

this episode has really made me realize how much I love Todd... I can understand how some people who aren't familiar with him could be turned off based on this episode alone, but I enjoy and relate with his sense of humor so much and he's extremely good at playing the straight man (reverse-pun not intended) in a comedic situation... especially if he's unaware of it like he is in most of this episode. that being said, the only thing funnier than Todd Glass is James Adomian's impression of Todd Glass.

    U2 (EP) by Negativland

I'm a huge fan of Negativland and I always secretly hoped that Scott or Scott would bring this album up... but regardless, it's nice to see someone else out there appreciates this absurdly genius band that fought the good fight in favor of fair use and the art of Plunderphonics http://en.wikipedia..../Plunderphonics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqse3vYcnaU

    Episode 14 β€” Staind Glass

wow and I thought I had OCD... but good point. I haven't actually heard that version, or maybe I have and just can't tell the difference since they were talking over it the whole time. the Bikini and Witchdoctor song might be similar... I listed the original people (or chipmunks) that sang them, but they might not be the versions that were played.

    Episode 14 β€” Staind Glass

that's interesting, I didn't realize Lanois co-produced the albums So and Us... coincidentally, Steve Lillywhite produced his third self-titled album (my personal favorite) I also loved Todd's justification of it being U2... but definitely "his early stuff". I also enjoyed that during the songs being played, he constantly referred to U2 as "him" as if Bono made up the entire band... but that might have been because they were previously discussing Bono and his complex facial details.

    Cool World (1992)

if it isn't already abundantly clear by the size of this thread, THIS MOVIE MUST BE DONE! as much as I love every one of Bakshi's movies, even this one to an extent, I'm aching to hear some 'Zouks commentary on this film and it's overt sexuality... this movie always gets comparisons to Roger Rabbit, but what most people don't know is that the concept of a major motion picture with equal amounts of animation and live action was originally Ralph Bakshi's idea... although it had been done before in old Disney movies, but only for a handful of sequences per movie due to how much money it cost. production for his movie Hey Good Lookin' began in 1974, but the film wasn't released until 1982 (sans any previously filmed live action sequences... except for some rotoscoping during a breakdance scene) for budgetary reasons... so you could say this movie was an attempt to finally honor his original artistic vision, despite the fact that Roger Rabbit had already popularized it.

    Episode 14 β€” Staind Glass

when they were talking about Todd being a wedding planner, it fucking killed me... "there's gonna be a drummer between you when you're saying your vows..." "...and during the vows.... lotta reverb." I'm only at the part where they're playing Todd songs.... and I can't stop laughing out loud! easily one of the best podcasts I've listened to this year.

Episode 289 β€” The Exorcism of Cake Boss

gotta say, I was very disappointed at the lack of Prince... ahem, I mean Prints during Riddle Me This section. but then again, I'm surprised he doesn't take some sort of legal action just based on the fact that Scott and other Earwolf hosts/guests talk about him all the time... because YouTube and most other video sites are void of all things "formerly known as" relevant. in short, I just want to party.....man
  25. Staind Glass Houses... now THAT would be a podcast. I may be wrong, but... it's been awhile.
