    The Producers

I don't know if you guys listen to WTF, but Eugene Levy had a few fun anecdotes about working for Dino De Laurentis (Once Upon a Crime). The relevant bit is around 1 hour (if the cueing doesn't work out). https://youtu.be/CtG0CeN6T70?t=1h8s

    Episode 157.5 - Minisode 157.5

Lots of coconut hate in this thread...

    The Last Dragon (1985)

I only hope that if (when) this movie gets reviewed, they run the "Glow" song at the end of the episode like they did with Mortal Kombat.

    The Edge of Seventeen (2016)

    Absolutely true. Good soundtrack, though.

    The Edge of Seventeen (2016)

There's a distinction between not liking something and that something being bad. Taste is subjective, but there are some fundamental ideas that this forum/podcast/society have agreed upon with regards to what makes a movie good or bad. We (obviously) focus on the bad around these parts, and you could make a list of repeating themes, including logical inconsistencies/continuity errors, nonsensical dialogue, and overused tropes. There are subtler things like "bad acting" that might just fall under the Potter Stewart definition. But let's just say that no one is going to confuse Birdemic with the Hitchcock original. I guess the point of this is to say that these are the things people look for in a bad movie suggestion. There's nothing wrong with making a controversial or unpopular suggestion (after all, I put up Lost Boys for consideration) but you should have some idea as to why it might work for discussion in the podcast.

I like the new MGMT-esque minisode theme. The Steely Dan rendition was cute, too.

I actually thought it was okay.

    Trailer Talk

A trend that started all the way back in 2001 with Donnie Darko, when Gary Jules covered "Mad World" by Tears for Fears. To be fair, the cover actually *sounds* like a different song.

Episode 157 - Surf Ninjas: LIVE!

The Beach Boy resurgence was more nostalgia-driven than anything else. And by 1993, "Kokomo" would have been as relevant as the Fine Young Cannibals. 1993 was the year of "Ten" and "The Chronic".

    Zoombies (2016)

I saw this title and half expected a children's movie, or something involving cameras.

TV Guide has a second opinion (3 stars out of 5): However: You don't say!

    Body Parts (1991)

I hope they touch on the IMDB (auto?) biography of the director, Eric Red:

    Shark Tale (2004)

Seven punch up writers! That's a lot of "fresh eyes" as Tom Lennon would say...

    Shark Tale (2004)

If HDTGM ever ventures into animated fare, Shark Tale is a pretty damn good place to start. Arguably the worst movie ever made by Dreamworks Animation -- both from a technical and every other perspective. Features HDTGM all-star Will Smith, plus Martin Scorcese in a badly-considered speaking role, and a bunch of DATs that Robert De Niro mailed in. I don't know if this movie is even enjoyably bad.

Episode 157 - Surf Ninjas: LIVE!

About the Imperial Palace (the restaurant in the movie). When the host takes the princes through the kitchen, did anyone else notice the dozen or so dishes lined up on the pass? Shouldn't there be an expeditor present to make sure that the orders get served in a timely manner? Shouldn't there be tickets to tell the cooks what the orders are? Without tickets or an expeditor, how do the waiters know which dish goes where? Maybe the Patusani cooks and waitstaff have telepathy and therefore don't need any of these traditional forms of communication to run their restaurant properly. That would also explain why the cooks spent the fight hanging out back like they were just waiting out a fire drill. Otherwise, wouldn't you want to hightail it as soon as a bunch of sword-wielding ninjas invaded your restaurant? Maybe they were just cool with the prospect of being brutally murdered.

Damn. That was one of those classic dumb Zucker-style puns that I clearly missed. This movie gave me ADD.

Episode 157 - Surf Ninjas: LIVE!

Barbara Ann, popularized by the Beach Boys. Not that I blame you (or others who have made this mistake, including Paul), since in the movie they make zero effort to get the lyrics right, either. Maybe that's the ethnic interpretation.

Episode 157 - Surf Ninjas: LIVE!

I was going to make the same point. But related to this, how do they even know that the kings are warriors in the first place? I also wondered why they placed Patusan off the coast of Vietnam, when they were doing location filming in Thailand? Couldn't they just put the island off the coast of Thailand? That would make even more sense given the scene where they show the chedi (Thai version of a buddhist stupa) in the background.

    Episode 156.5 - Minisode 156.5

I recently learned that Neal Israel, the director of this movie , is going to participate in the reboot of his most famous franchise: Police Academy. Assuming no friends of the show are involved in this upcoming project, it's almost assuredly a future HDTGM episode, right?

In remembrance of Bill Paxton, I think this movie deserves a second look.

https://youtu.be/wJCcsrVC3fo?t=1m30s "You know what I said about seeing a light when you die" "Yeah" "It ain't true. I can't see a damn thing." RIP Bill Paxton.
