I was at the gig in 1993 where Megadeth played "Angry Again" for the first time, still a great song. Judgment Night is terrific soundtrack, less so the movie.... Also, Spawn, soundtrack = good, movie = terrible.

Only if the movie is Star Trek: Insurrection.
-
I particularly enjoyed The Apple's Rifftrax commentary.... A movie which HDTGM should do.
-
Best moment of levity in the movie was after the first round of thugs are dispatched at John Wicks house, the police turn up at his door... See the carnage and "well, I leave you to it then...."
-
This would fit in the realm of movies that are "bad" but they love them, like Crank. Personally, I thought this movie was absolutely brilliant.
-
I had the same feeling watching 'Adventures Of Power'... On-topic though, I'm with you, I think this movie is pretty good. I love a caper movie...

That'll be Brian Eno... Both from Roxy Music, wrong Brian. I love love love this movie.... For me, I tend to ignore the trainwrecked-ness of it, and just let it wash over me. So many things to marvel at... Patrick Stewart finally talking like he's from Yorkshire (like he is), Brad Dourif's real eyebrows (probably), the sight of Sting emerging from a steam shower wearing an eagle codpiece... Sean Young being generally terrible. The Baron and his diseases, and the aforementioned removal of the heart-plug scene, 8 year old Alicia Witt clearly overdubbed with someone else, and the story's narrator Virginia Madsen gets one line in the actual movie... ONE LINE! "Father?".... David Lynch says that the reason this hurts so much, is that he was never allowed final cut on the movie by the De-Laurentiis' and by that he believed he sold out, and this is why when the TV version surfaced as a different cut, he had his name removed from the film. There are numerous fan-cuts of the movie online, and this (I believe) is the 2nd most fan-edited movie apart from Star Wars (prequel trilogy). Some are worth a watch.

Rowdy Roddy Piper is the only fertile man in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, in a world run where women are dominant and the it's run by giant alien frogs.... He also has to wear a nuclear jockstrap... What's not to like?

After looking at their site, there's about five or six podcasts I wanna listen to right off the bat.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984)
WayneMiller replied to Blake L's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
For a guest I would suggest Greg Proops, as [A] it's one of his favourites, and he's shown it and hosted a Q&A at the Cinefamily (usually as part of his Greg Proops Film Club podcast - but it's not one he's uploaded.... yet) I've not seen this flick in ages, and I keep talking to my missus about it, so I think it might be time for a refresh.- 34 replies

I remember owning this on VHS, and recently refreshed my memory of it, and yeah, it really is like two movies spliced together. Dana Delaney is pretty damn hot in the movie though, and her arc with the australian dude is one, and the drugs/police thing (with tacked on voice over by Rosie O'Donnell - honestly, it's like subtitles for the hard of thinking.... ) is another.
-
Do you think it was pitched as that as the ultimate twist? I think I need to watch this with the commentary, because it just seems to be John Boorman going "What was I thinking?" over and over again....
-
Something little trivia to add to this one: John Boorman is the the Nemesis of renowned British Movie Critic (and personal hero of mine), Dr. Mark Kermode, as he'd directed Exorcist II: The Heretic (which should also get the HDTGM treatment), so I take issue slightly with the "great director" tag.... My memory of Excalibur was the one scene of a knight fucking a girl complete with penis armour... Also, when Connery agreed to go back and make his return Bond movie "Diamonds Are Forever", as well as the $1.25mil fee he got, he also got three pictures automatically greenlit for production. I believe this was one of them.
-
I would love to see them do this movie. I remember enjoying this one, but there's so much I've forgotten... Not least this scene with Jim Carrey.
-
I agree with this, I think her dorky insights might be funny. I would also add Greg Proops, whose movie knowledge is pretty awesome.

My eyes! My eyes! The googles, they do nothing!

Just watched the trailer, and I concur. As an English person, I find it pretty offensive, really.... Just bloody awful! Ghastly, in fact.... There's no actual way to tell what the movie's about... Upper class twit (of the year) Johnny Depp goes to LA, and.... er.... hilarity ensues?
-
Halle Berry is terrible in this movie.... Which is far and away the worst of the Bond franchise. If you're after a quick-fix review of this... Listen to the James Bonding episode on this, with Ben's Acker and Blacker (both writers themselves) to pick over the rotting carcass of this movie. I leave it to Roger Moore to sum this movie up: "I thought it was going too far, and that's from me: The first Bond in space...."
-
Exactly.... If Scheer's looking for another podcast to go on Wolfpop, this practically makes itself. A sister podcast on his sister network. It's all good.
-
If they're gonna do this, then it should be a form of spinoff show: How Did This Get Remade? Where they compare and contrast between remakes/reboots.... Both (Judge) Dredd's Both Godzilla's Both Robocop's Total Recall....

I rediscovered this thread, and I'm currently listening to The Flop House, and while it'll take a little getting into, I'm enjoying it so far.

Episode 99 — A View To a Kill: LIVE
WayneMiller replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Bruce Glover (father of Crispin) is fantastic as Mr Wint. If they ever bring those two back, get Crispin to play him. Plenty O'Toole is played by Lana Wood (sister of Natalie) and she's pretty foxy! -
"How did he die?" "In a well...." Allie and Georgia's comments on Goldfinger were pretty dead-on. Contrast that with the squee-athon that is Casino Royale. My personal favourite (podcasts), are Man With The Golden Gun, as frankly I could listen to Proops reading the phone book, and that guy knows his shit about 70's movies. Plus, has a fandom for Maud Adams which is pretty damn funny too. Diamonds Are Forever, with Doug Benson, and Scheer's appearance on OHMSS.
-
I watched this recently, and I really liked it. But, then I really like Moonraker. But I'm a big Bond fan, so I'm looking forward to this. I think this'll be a joint with James Bonding, I hope so, as James Bonding are super slow at delivering updated shows. Paul Scheer was on On Her Majesties Secret Service, and they asked him to contribute to AVTAK, along with Chris Hardwick and possibly Doug Benson (Benson's appearance on Diamonds Are Forever, as well as The Man With The Golden Gun (Greg Proops) are high watermark podcasts for James Bonding).
-
View To A Kill has got to be a joint Podcast with James Bonding. Scheer was due to be on that podcast, with Chris Hardwick - so doubling up with HDTGM seems like perfect syncronicity to me. In other news, ITV in the UK showed this tonight, so I've just watched it, and aside from Tanya Roberts insessent squealing and Grace Jones being generally terrible. I really like it. Walken is barking mad in this movie.
