Really enjoyed the conversations in this one. My aunt and cousins are Jehovah's witnesses and we've drifted apart as we got older (my Nana was the bonding element so when she passed away we started seeing less and less of each other). My aunt converted / married into it and my cousins were born into it I guess. At one point I think my aunt celebrated Thanksgiving with us, but then they seemed to become a bit stricter and there were no parties or holidays with them. I've always wanted to shake some sense into them, I find their beliefs especially hard to get behind. I was Lutheran as a kid, mostly to appease my grandparents, but eventually common sense kinda struck me and I was like, oh, well that all doesn't make much sense now does it. I've always felt like they've had less freedom though to come to their own conclusions, as they do shun you and cut you off from your family if you want out. But I figure theres no sense trying to enlighten them or steer them away from it.. My disdain was really solidified after attending two weddings within their church (my aunts second marriage and my cousins first), which were just such.. joyless affairs, I hate to say. Not much pomp, which is fine, but all the scripture was basically this misogynistic old-timey shit about the husband being the head of the house (second only to God himself) and... it was just exhausting and not something I can even imagine anyone ever getting excited about. Not to mention the pastor or whatever was like the worst public speaker ever, and had a pronounced stutter. Anyways, I'm rambling, the point was it was interesting to hear Jerry's experience with the religion since I've had some familiarity with the Jehovah Witnesses myself. I mean, I really don't get why they need to recruit people in the first place, I think their literature said there's only like, 400K seats in heaven for them or something? Aren't you reducing your odds to get in by adding to the overall number of Witnesses!? Madness!

I've been out of the podcasting loop for awhile (took a little break), so I've got a pretty deep backlog now but I just made my way through eps #13 through 16. They've all been entertaining, but I definitely laughed the hardest with this one. The simultaneous impressions of Carson (and everyone else they got around to)... absolute gold.

That appears to be performance "art" and not a genuine freakout. http://www.rightthisminute.com/video/artist-doesnt-take-criticism-too-well I was going to object to you calling them "homosexuals" (sounds pejorative) but since thats the actual title of the video of the video I'll give you a pass. I will not give you a pass on liking your own post though. -
I like straight guy / narrative Chad best (Chad's voice is great and sounds like it would fit in on This American Life or some other NPR type thing), but that's just me. Not sure about the sound critique, I thought the drops and music have been pretty solid. Definitely not going anywhere though, and I appreciate how he's on the forum interacting with the fans.

Chad you must have some grandparents from Spain!

EPISODE 341 — Banging the Table with Stars

Torquil seemed like a big fan, I like how he slipped in the "take off the headphones and whisper about the other guest" bit. -

EPISODE 341 — Banging the Table with Stars
CraigEminger replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
Maybe its like when you're a new person in a group and like, you say something that would be okay if they knew you better / you'd been around longer, but they don't and it gives people a bad first impression. Like you haven't earned the right to talk to me like that yet, because I can't tell if you're joking with me or actually being a dick. We know Scott's persona, we don't know hers. Hard to tell if she was being critical to Claudia the character or Claudia the actual person (seeing as how the mum thing might be the way she actually would say that, and not just a character tic, can't say for sure though but its possible). I think maybe thats what some of us were feeling when we heard that part. I didn't think anything else had a tone like that before or after though, so I wasn't completely soured on Amy, there was just something weird about that moment for me. Maybes its just me, but for me... -

Claudia is hilarious. I was wondering, is there anyone else who uses their real name and is also a character? Her Sex and the City impressions are stellar. I did find that it was a little offputting when Amy shut down Claudia on her use of mum. It wasn't really funny or necessary -- there was something a bit hostile about it (though Claudia saved it by saying "I can't possibly do that"). I liked Torquil though, he was game and had some good anecdotes. Also seconding the Emily Haines guest request. Oh and these ads were the best ones yet. -

I love the idea of Dave Matthews looking icily out the bus window and deciding "fuck this city" *pulls big lever, shit pours out of hatch on the rear of the bus shaped like a giant ass* -
Episode 9 - Into The Singularity Part 2

So I've been busy with some shit at work so I'm just catching up with the last two episodes now. Those Harrison Ford bits were so good (nice work Chad as the air traffic controller!). "Tell Calista that of all my wives... she was skinniest!" Made me laugh anytime that plane sound trickled into the background of the podcast hahah. The segment at the end was pretty amazing too, just.. so ridiculous and canonically unsound ("use the force Hannnn"), I loved it. Enjoyed the guests too, though I think I had trouble at times distinguishing between Seth and Chad. On to episode 10! -
Speaking of which, I'm so glad the final episode of Dinosaurs got mentioned, because that shit is bleak (and right up his alley!). Though PFT mispoke, it wasn't the actions of humans that were the cause of their extinction, it was the dinosaur society that did it (though I think there may have been cavemen in the series). http://www.buzzfeed.com/briangalindo/dinosaurs-the-most-traumatizing-series-finale-ever#.cywmmRWyjj

There was a good joke on last weeks Comedy Bang Bang tv show when they were coming back from commercial and Dax and Scott were talking about a sketch group made up of seven white guys, and how that would never work, they need some women, something to that effect. I laughed, but it stung a little since the Birthday Boys show was cancelled... but the joke may have pre-dated their knowing that, plus I forgot that those guys write for the CBB tv show.

Haha if I can piggy-back on that... Chinese story from 2012, sorry if its a repost: Report mistakes a sex toy for a rare-mushroom. Probably a bad submission because its in Chinese and seeing the mushroom helps, but its pretty damn funny. Looked for an English dub, but in vain. -
Damn that is a good eulogy. I have so much stepping up to do. I would like to earn words like these someday.

The Billy Gibbons bit was too fucking funny. Milana was lovely, some good real talk in there between the bits. -

I am reading this in Doctor Bronner's voice. (Well, Adomian's Bronner) -
I'm on OG fan, back when it was Channel 102 show called Gemberling (though I never actually watched the Adult Swim remake). Was really excited to find out he's really raised his profile since then!

Ughhhh why people gotta be beefin'? Harris would've been 100% down to clown about Phish. I got a kick out of every song being a different part of David Bowie. Did you listen to the nice stuff they were saying about him in between the other bits, or just to your own thought process taking the Phish jokes too seriously because you're obviously a fan and you don't like people crapping on them? They needed that shit for levity, man, its hard to talk about a friend you've just lost. Get over it.
