I think they're both good, but in terms of the kind of story they are, I'd say it's closer to the latter.

That's just mean. Bonnie & Clyde has that tied up, despite the fact that Badlands is so damn great.

I might be one of four people in the world that doesn't love this movie--though, it does have one of the very greatest endings. I'll hear the episode, and re-watch the film. But I don't know. The makeup might be canon-worthy. I could certainly be persuaded.

Yeah. I saw that, and it was disheartening. I really liked what people had to say on those subjects, even if I didn't totally agree with some of them.

This. I like both Capes Fear, but I don't believe either are particularly canon-worthy. I'd love to hear the arguments.

If Zodiac did make it in, I couldn't be mad. It is, without a doubt, one of the greatest films of all time. It's a film that I love a lot, and couldn't be too upset if it made it in over Memories of Murder. Same as above. All of Bong's films are great. I certainly prefer Memories of Murder, but I can't even be annoyed or defensive at thinking Mother is better, because it's so damn good.

Well, it took him forever to find roles where he wasn't Jim Carreying the whole time. That said, Jim Carrey--especially at the time--brings a likability and celebrity that I don't know would have worked with anyone else.

Memories of Murder is one of my five favorite films. The obvious choice is to do that in a versus with Zodiac, but I'd hate having to do that. Bong Joon-ho deserves to be in the canon, and all of his films are worthy. Memories of Murder, next to Snowpiercer, is probably his strongest bet.

What does that even mean, anyway? That if Amy doesn't like something that she just doesn't understand it? I mean, I can't imagine anyone getting it more than Amy--as often as I disagree with her--but it's possible she gets it and still doesn't care for the movie.

100% agree. I think we're of one mind on this. Just for a little while, let's do some more obscure picks. Let's get some Kurosawa, some German New Wave, or even some modern comedies. I feel like we're gonna get to the point where we're chucking Halloween denying entry into canon out of spite.

You know, the first one might actually have to be the one. Personally, I'd go with Prisoner of Azkaban or Deathly Hallows Pt. I. I think those are the strongest films in the series. That said, Sorcerer's Stone has the most in terms of world-building and setting a tone for the whole series.

My mom is a John Cusack person. So, she'd pick Better Off Dead..., which is her all-time favorite film. Personally, I think it's awesome. It's a terrific absurdist romantic comedy with a terrific performance from Cusack. Say Anything... is great as well.

Devin loves Harry Potter, so I don't know if that's quite true. Personally, I've been asking for a Harry Potter episode since the old forums. 100% it deserves an episode, and, for my money, canonization.

I want so badly to side with Amy and to vote no. I can't. The significance is enormous. As someone who is a late millennial that loves TOS, I have no love for Wrath of Khan. I can appreciate Dave and Devin's arguments, and I see where they're coming from, but there's no passion for me here. More than anything, I'm really fatigued by genre episodes like this, even though I've voted for most of them--if not all of them--to be canonized. I get it. If every pork chop was perfect, we wouldn't have Re-Animator hot dogs. With that in mind, I'm ready to do some stuffy, older, artier films. If we could do that, maybe I'm alone on this, but I think that would be super neat.

Thank goodness. Any excuse to do an older movie will do. Anyway, I'm in the bag for this. I love The Bad Seed. Can't wait for this episode.

In light of Curtis Hanson's passing, I think this would be a good time to discuss L.A. Confidential, which--personally--is such a formative film.

This is one of my absolute favorite films, and I hope they do it at some point, because it is one of the most energetic epics of all time. I love it.

I voted yes on Re-Animator, but if I have to make a tribute in the name of the canon, I'm okay ejecting it.

Yeah. For me, it's Working Girl, Two-Lane Blacktop, and Re-Animator. The last one is important, because I really don't think that was a fair induction.

That was my thing. This is the film that makes Nightcrawler happen. Louis Bloom is Rupert Pupkin's son, and Rene Russo's character is Cathy Long grown up, punished with years of Pupkins and Blooms. Also, Schrader has confirmed the end of Taxi Driver as a dream. Maybe it isn't to Scorsese--though, I'm pretty sure he has said it is as well. But I think that makes sense as a dream.

In the Mood for Love is a quiet and magical romance that is bursting with beauty, yet is so intimate and real. There's never a dull moment. Let's forget the pacing, the dreamlike storytelling, the ingenious cinematography, etc. Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung alone are so gorgeous, and have such chemistry with one another, that their dynamic alone could carry this film. So, no. This is not overrated. One of you is completely wrong.

Except Shrek doesn't exist without Toy Story, or even Luxo Jr. So, I don't know if that holds up.
