The whole situation with Louise's birthday party is suspect. No one comes to her party, then Hatz calls Louise from a payphone to tell her that Randa is having a party at the same time. Doesn't Randa live directly across the street from her?! Wouldn't someone have noticed dozens of kids going to another party at her house? And where has Hatz been all this time? It's clearly nighttime when she calls; I'm convinced she ditched Louise to go to Randa's party, and only called her afterward.

Thank you! I thought it was just me. The way the husband freaked out and ran away (why didn't the police go after him?) when Selleck questioned him, he should have been the prime suspect. There's no way that robot could have stabbed two people to death; it was like two feet off the ground!

EPISODE 112 — Jupiter Ascending

The name Abrasax is so close to the name of an HDTGM-worthy Terminator ripoff from the 90's called Abraxas: Guardian of the Galaxy. Coincidence?? -
EPISODE 112 — Jupiter Ascending

I am convinced that wedding crash scene was a nearly complete ripoff of the wedding crash scene from Flash Gordon (1980). Titus Abrasax really should have been impaled on the tip of Caine's ship, if only to give closure to his character. -
EPISODE 112 — Jupiter Ascending
DavidBarclift replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
JA is the first and only movie I've ever walked out of, so I was conflicted about paying to see the entire thing. Holy cow. Never have I seen a movie with more setups that go nowhere. I thought for sure that Jupiter's dad had discovered some clue to mankind's extraplanetary origins or something like that. Nope, just shot and killed and never heard from again. The three bounty hunters, the two remaining Abrasax siblings, Jupiter's friend/boss(?) who was going on the date with the rich bachelor -- they all just evaporated as the movie went on. I kept thinking: Dune + Maid in Manhattan = JA There was a scene at Uncle Vlade's house where his daughter (I think) is coughing while she's talking to him, coughing enough that you'd think she has an illness which will play a part in the story later. Nope, never seen again. The real problem with the rocket boots is that they tried to explain them at all. Rocket boots are cool! Just let us see you flying around in them. Remember the first time you saw a lightsaber in Star Wars? There was no explanation needed. Some fundamental part of you knew that this was a sweet weapon, and all you wanted was to see two people fighting with them. Obiwan never attempted to break down the mechanics of lightsabers because it would have ruined the coolness. -
EPISODE 110 — The Island of Dr. Moreau
DavidBarclift replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Was Brando wearing false teeth in this movie, or was he just sort of pursing his lips through every line? The real mystery to me is near the end of the movie when David Thewlis exclaims, "They needed my DNA!" Are they really saying that Dr. Moreau needed specifically his DNA and no one else's would do? Why??!
