By the way, if you haven't done this yet, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to iTunes and give us a 5-star (or whatever you see fit) rating and LEAVE A REVIEW. Those charts can be life or death to a podcast so if you want to help without spending a dime, that is the best way right now. We have fallen to 158th on the charts in the comedy podcast category and A) I doubt there are 157 podcasts better than ours and 2.) If you're posting on this forum, you are probably a fan and would love to see this thing grow. I am not going to do this often, and I am only doing it here so I may be preaching to the choir, but every little bit helps at this early stage. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-hooray-show-with-horatio/id958823098?mt=2

I noticed that saddlebags posted his opinion on Thursday (4/2) early in the morning. Which led me to believe that he/she thought of it on April Fools day, but waited until the first thing in the morning on the following day so we would all take it seriously. At least I hope saddlebags put that much thought into it. Who wakes up and posts "Chad must go" on the earwolf forum?

Me too...

I don't disagree with you (except for the "I have to go" part). The live episode was a disaster. Actually, you would be impressed with all the times I interrupted Besser that I cut out! If you read my post in the previous thread, you'll see how I posted about what we learned from that live show and how we can better pull it off in the future. Sorry to say though, that unless WNYC, WBEZ or a national sports radio show come calling, I'm probably not going anywhere anytime soon. In the mean time, I would highly recommend Improv 4 Humans in which I don't interrupt Besser at all, there are basically no needledrops, and the episodes are virtually unedited from beginning to end and run for well over an hour. There are hundreds of them to choose from, (many include Walsh and/or Horatio!). There are also hundreds of comedy podcasts out there that I am NOT on and don't edit, probably some really good ones. Enjoy!

Hi guys! I'm a day late posting because that girl from the show and I ran off to the South of France the day after and got married. Let me tell you, she is everything I ever wanted. Her name is "I AINT!!!!" Let me clear a few things up, she was looking at the stage when she asked the question, I was simply standing next to her with the microphone. The guys on stage pimped me out because earlier in the show (a part that is cut from the episode) they were accusing me of going into the audience in order to pick up women. Second, I have a girlfriend and I am very happy. I hate to burst your bubble, I know it's more exciting when you think the stripper is going to go home with you, but that night ended like it was supposed to end, with Walsh and I drunk off our asses with Horatio, high as a kite, wandering around Austin at 3 am trying to find our hotels. Or as Walsh put it, "We're not lost! My hotel is!" My first intention with this episode was just to mix it and put it up as is. Then CBB and I4H released their "Live from" episodes ahead of ours, with pretty much the exact same line-up, and I wanted to set ours apart and give it at least a few signatures of The Hooray Show. Plus, there actually were some REALLY clunky moments (clunkier than the ones that made the episode) that just didn't deserve to see the light of day. Those bits died in The Hideout that night (RIP Space Mountain and the Great Vibrator Giveaway) A huge lesson I learned is to NEVER EVER EVER from now on, add the SFX, keyboards or anything BUT the microphones in the recorded mix. I can add all that shit later and it would sound way better. Plus if my timing is off, it can really destroy a moment. So... lesson learned. The other thing that happened was the night before I did the final mix of the episode, I went to sleep with an endless stream of the Ted Talks Radio Hour playing. In my dreams that night, my brain was editing the show (which happens a lot) however Ted Talks kept sneaking in there, so when I woke up, I said "fuck it." I realize only a handful of people will ever understand the RadioLab/Detour parody we do throughout this epsiode, but that's okay, it's just for them, feel free to skip past it... I did the tour, it was amazeballs. I also got to talk to the producers at RadioLab and at Detour and we are looking forward to doing a Hooray Show Detour of Los Angeles sometime within the next year. Next Hooray Show LIVE: June 26-28 - NYC - Del Close Marathon! Woot! See you next week.

Episode X - Trouble with Boys
ChadKrueger replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Hooray Show with Horatio
Happy Hooray Show Wednesday everyone! Thank you for listening. Every week we are gaining subscribers and listeners and I couldn't be more thrilled. Episode X - Trouble With Boys Insiders guide to the episode: With the exceptions of the Shins song we use after introducing Yuuki, the Blurred Lines sample and the Fat Boys sample, (and Bless this Mess acoustic) there are 10 songs (episode 10... get it?) by David Bazan presented in the order he created for Bazan Monthly. You can subscribe to Bazan Monthly at davidbazan.com and receive new songs every month in any format you choose. 1- Impermanent Record 2 - Deny Myself 3 - Nobody's Perfect 4 - Sparkling Water 5 - With You 6 - Little Landslide 7 - Kept Secrets 8 - Ill at Ease 9 - Disappearing Ink 10 - Trouble With Boys I am blown away by how much I really love Dave and his music. I was only turned onto his music shortly before we launched the podcast and now that I met him, there is no turning back. I absolutely love when you meet a musician or other artist that you admire and they turn out to be such genuinely cool human beings. This episode does take a turn from comedy a bit, and personally I feel that is okay. I think it's okay to be cool and real. The comedy will always be there by default, but once again, the content is dictated by the guest. I am very happy with this episode and here's to the next 10 you guys! Cheers!- 11 replies

Episode 9 - Into The Singularity Part 2

We had planned all along to call back Jerry still stuck at Hector's Dispensary in this episode... when that guy randomly asked for Jerry, I lost my shit. -
Episode 9 - Into The Singularity Part 2

Thank you guys for the comments. For the record, my penis is above average in both size and beauty. Someone has to be the foil... I am glad you are enjoying the trip with us. Next week is going to be a bit different and hopefully rewarding. I won't go too much into this episode except to say that yes, the phone calls are getting weirder, and yes, we were taking them at around 3am pacific. K and C are awesome women and you should definitely check out "Guys We Fucked" - (Seth Herzog just brought me peanut M&Ms and a diet coke, I'm not sure if he's leaving....) While they were here, I recorded an episode for their show interviewing Horatio. I am not going to be editing it at all, just delivering the audio, but it is going to be an amazing episode and it took everything in my power to sit in bro bro studios with headphones on and a mic in front of me and keep my mouth shut for an hour. Brutal. Stay tuned for Episode X... we have a VERY special guest coming in tomorrow to record and take us out of the Singularity. LIVE SHOW!: We're heading to SXSW this weekend so if you are in Austin, Sunday night we'll be at the Hideout. Matt Besser will have a chance to defend the moat at UCB Sunset and hopefully Shannon won't freak out too badly.... -

Episode 8 - Into the Singularity
ChadKrueger replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Hooray Show with Horatio
Wednesday morning QB: Good morning HoorayHeads! Can I start calling you that? No? Okay, fair enough. h/t once again to July Diaz and the Earwolf team who were somehow awake when I delivered this episode at 1:30 am pacific time. We did the ad reads and final listen through starting at about 9 pm last night due to Horatio being on a shoot. Let me start by saying that Milana gives the best hugs. If there were hugging in baseball, she's Ted fucking Williams. "Into the Singularity" I will just go ahead and say that the proper title of this show should be "Into the Singularity part 1" - This is the first of a three part series leading us into Episodes 9 and X. The show is starting to fold in on itself as all points in space and time collapse into one singularity. One truth. All will be revealed. I need coffee.... Chad -

Episode 7 - Je Suis UCB - OR - (a funny thing happened on the way to the diorama convention)

At our final listen through on Tuesday, Horatio and I were both crying on the floor laughing by the time the kid kills himself over the PA. Yeah... this one definitely brought the funny.... -

My "what the fuck is going on?" reaction was dead honest! When I realized what he was doing, that Cosby and Fat Albert were ending their friendship... I lost it... I fucking lost it... and when he drops mush mouth... it was everything I could do to get to the Eddie Murphy question (which, incidentally, Horatio didn't know was coming, I was sitting on it the whole time because I knew what his answer would be...) "He should've done the bit!!!" -

I had just assumed that Ben chose to not use Todd's name. In the I4H clip I use in our show, they say Todd's name right before they ask for the twitter handle, I edited it out to be consistent with Ben's choice, whether it was a deliberate choice or not. -

The three ad format was one of the more difficult parts of editing this show because it naturally breaks up the show into four acts and deciding what those acts were was really hard. I am super grateful to have sponsors though and they do send us cool shit! -
Episode 7 - Je Suis UCB - OR - (a funny thing happened on the way to the diorama convention)

Happy Hooray Show Wednesday everybody! I'm very excited to announce that our morning downloads were up by a couple of thousand this week, so the little show that could, keeps on keeping on. Thank you so much and please keep spreading the word. Now on to the episode. Je Suis UCB - or - (a funny thing happened on the way to the diorama convention) My favorite part of Wednesday mornings is getting to listen to the show knowing that there is no longer a god damn thing I can do about it. It's out there. Second guessing is pointless and it is what it is. I have to trust that I've put enough time and thought and energy into the episode that the spirit of the show comes through and that it is in fact funny. Well this one is really fucking funny. This is also the episode I spent the most time on (with maybe the exception of the first) and there are many reasons why. I didn't think this episode was going to happen. It was so loose and I made an almost fatal mistake going in. I should never have let Jon and Ben share a mic. We all just kind of spilled into the basement, Horatio and I took our seats, Betsy took the normal guest seat and that left me with one mic for those guys. I offered to give up my mic but for some reason we talked ourselves out of that idea. In hindsight, I would've given Betsy my mic, and separated Jon and Ben and mix them more stereo left and right. It is difficult at times to tell them apart. The biggest casualty of this is missing some REALLY funny lines that get buried under laughs. If Jon says something and Ben is either talking over it or laughing or vice versa, there is no way to separate the audio. So we almost completely miss "We saw your mini-911 diorama at the diorama festival". I think I got as many jokes as I could in there, but there are a lot of unfortunate ones that were just not savable. Another joke along that vein is "never forget all the mini cops we lost on mini 9-11" - This was a running theme in the recording session, but it barely makes the show because of this audio snafu. I now know better. Ideally, I never want to have more than two guests at a time, but the show is the show is the show yo! I love the run out of this show. The back to back production pieces of 75 shit trombones and the morning announcements are two of my favorites and had us in absolute tears in our final listen through. Horatio says in this episode "you've been listening to UCB style improv..." - and this is something we talk about a lot but if you are an improv student, I am going to point out this style to you in this episode and you can take it for what it is. Early in the 75 shit trombones scene, Horatio says "I was kissing her nipple", I have the throw away line "I was there for that..." - my throw away line immediately became the game of the scene and Ben, Jon and Betsy all knew that. The game became "what did I miss because I was taking a shit?" - fucking brilliant. From there it's just heighten heighten heighten. We never did get to that science fair... As for running bits and not being the theme of "Hooray"... it's not for now. But it will be. We already have running themes. Baseball averages will always make a comeback. Mike Montana, Joe Nunez and Joe Show will almost always be in the background and work their way into episodes. I promise you haven't seen the last of Aaron Neville or the Abbott and Costello characters. That said, hopefully we finally put the Cosby thing down for good. Phone calls will continue to be a part of it and improvising songs for callers will make it's way into the show from time to time. It's not going to have the format like many shows where it's like "we're at the 20 minute mark... it's NAME THAT SMELL!!!" That is definitely not our style. But there are recurring bits if that makes sense. No one has mentioned the ads yet. Do they bug you? Do you like 'em? Do you skip 'em? Just curious... I'll be around... Chad- 30 replies

Episode 7 - Je Suis UCB - OR - (a funny thing happened on the way to the diorama convention)

The closing theme is The Hooray Show Theme, an original piece written for the show by Dave Bazan. Besser will get his chance to defend himself at SXSW. We love Matt. -
The one clip they did play got me pregnant.

I don't think you are off topic at all. The SNL 40th was arguably one of the biggest events in the history of comedy on television. Horatio and I talked about that. In fact, CNN called him this morning to appear on TV at 11:45 am with Gilbert Goddfried to respond to Norm McDonald's tweets. You can take that for what it's worth, but people are talking about it 4 days later. http://www.snappytv....tc/484302/92754

I just read it. After reading it, I am a bit more sympathetic to Eddie and a little bit flabbergasted by Norm and Higgins that there was no compromise, Was it really Cosby or nothing? Could he have not been James Brown on Celebrity Jeopardy? Kind of a shame. But, I also get the feeling that Eddie is just tired of being funny... he put it all out there and he's done. There is nothing wrong with that either....
