H.P.Hovercraft 119 Posted April 11, 2016 I don't know if it will be possible to do this one as I haven't found this modern epic available digitally anywhere, but I was luckily able to find a DVD copy at the awesome Scarecrow Video in Seattle, WA. Frankly, I was shocked it had ever been released on DVD. Â 'Rent-a-Cop' is an incredible exercise in stunt casting done 10 years too late with Burt Reynolds and Liza Minnelli both working off what seems like 2 totally separate versions of the same film. Liza Minnelli plays call-girl Della Roberts in what appears to be the wardrobe for her character Lucille 2 from 'Arrested Development'. Burt Reynolds doesn't fare much better as disgraced cop Tony Church wearing a Halloween costume of Mike Meyer's "Chicago Bears Superfan" from SNL. Â But all of that pales in comparison to James Remar's villain, Dancer, a name as literal as it is ridiculous. You have to see it to believe it with this one, but the magic of this performance will stay with you for a lifetime. Â Dionne Warwick makes an appearance as a glamorous madam and Richard Masur does what he did best in the 80s: sweat in a yuppie power suit. Â My friends and I had a blast watching this and giving it the MST3K-treatment and would love to hear the HDTGM crew's take on this campy action comedy! Share this post Link to post
