j-dubbz 0 Posted September 23, 2011 I know this is a Nickelodeon made for TV movie, but, it's on Netflix instant watch, so bite me. My 10 year old son and his friends saw this movie on Netflix, they had heard of the Fred character and sat down to watch it. I had nothing better to do so I sat in too. There are just some things in life that you can't un-see or un-hear, and this is one of them. The story is bad, the dialog is bad, the acting is bad. It's just bad. It was so bad, that at most points in the movie, the kids weren't even interested in it. I can't bash it too badly though because it did give me one laugh. There is a part where Fred throws a temper tantrum and destroys the house and immediatley after, he cleans up the mess. It just struck me as funny. During the whole movie, Fred is constantly breaking the 4th wall, he talks to the audience the whole time, way more than needed, even for a kids movie. This movie is pretty disturbing for a kids movie, especially if you know the backstory of the Fred character from YouTube. The online character is supposed to be 6 years old, lives with his recovering drug-addicted and alcoholic mother, his grandmother, and briefly a man named Claudio. It is implied that Fred has been the victim of child abuse (like being locked in a dog cage for three days), but he frequently speaks of his love for his mother, particularly after she was at rehab. Fred's father has been mentioned several times as being on death row in the state penitentiary. Fred hasn't met his father as he left Mrs. Figglehorn while she was still pregnant with Fred and often imagines him in grandious ways. This movie is disturbing, and bad. You have to see it.
