    The Boy Next Door (2015)

When will these GOD DAMN misogynists, patriarchs and slut shamers stop their bullshit, and recognise that hot Latina feminists can fuck who they want, when they want?

    The Visit (2015)

The twist is reeeeeaaaaallly badly done in the film. It's like a shit campfire tale.

    EPISODE 118.5 - MINISODE 118.5

He was probably being specific about women directors *and* making the wider point. The women directors bit because Lexi Alexander is the (female) director of Punisher: War Zone and the only woman I think who's directed a Marvel movie; and the wider bit because yes it's what a lot of people say to try and pretend there's no discrimination or imbalance towards a given group. By the way, Lexi Alexander is AWESOME and should get to direct more stuff.

    Bad Joke

I'm from the UK and will give this debate due consideration on the 9th of November.

    EPISODE 118.5 - MINISODE 118.5

I have to say on the Kathryn Bigelow question I think he's right that only stupid people would say "we have enough female directors because Kathryn Bigelow" - do a lot of people say that though? On your link to the Trever Noah scandal - while the article is spot on about the way Patton Oswalt defended Trever Noah being bullshit, I would like to say that Trever himself made no special pleading satire defence about those jokes, he just admitted they hadn't worked. If there is a defence of the fella it's that growing up as a mixed race boy in apartheid South Africa in which his very existence was a crime he probably has a different view on how thick skinned people should be and will no doubt have learned from the experience.

    EPISODE 118.5 - MINISODE 118.5

Mind you, who would believe that Alan Thicke might have a son who was a cocky smug little bellend who thinks he's God's gift to women?

What film got you into the podcast?

Amen to that - thanks to them I found the Wham Bam Pow podcast and now have a rather futile crush on Rhea Butcher

EPISODE 117 - Theodore Rex: LIVE!

A great illustration of how bad the glass ceiling is for black women, that even recently created genetic experiments are selected for promotion ahead of them. Some of the best sci-fi contains important social commentary after all.

    Episode 116.5 - Minisode 116.5

I'm hoping Whoopi gets involved with pasta at some point in the hope this links up with Judge Dredd and Runaway as the Spaghetti Robot Trilogy

The lads and Lassies here in the UK were looking forward to the dog puns...

    EPISODE 115.5 — Minisode 115.5

How can they arrest people if they don't have a badge? They also need to be able to read them their Riranda Rights in a Scooby Doo voice

Oh my fucking God. I am happy for my win to be re-awarded to that comment.

    EPISODE 114.5 — Minisode 114.5

I'm listening to this Minisode on a train, and my fellow passengers now think I'm (a*) mental due to my excitement at being read out on corrections and omissions and awarded the win...

    EPISODE 114.5 — Minisode 114.5

If they're looking for increasingly silly ideas for shark films (and clearly they are), then perhaps they could draw from real life: Sharks in a fucking volcano! http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/animals/blogs/sharks-found-living-inside-active-volcanosharks-found-living-inside-active-volcano

    EPISODE 114 — Runaway

More omissions: in the scene where Ramsey (Ramsey! Ramsey!) talks to his son in the bedroom, the kid is watching a show about dinosaurs in his room which is talking about the brontosaurus in a very dry and documentary way. It's ironic that there's a lame reference to dinosaurs when Crichton did a more memorable job in Jurassic Park, because the whole film is a lame version of robots gone wrong which Crichton did much better in Westworld. Also, Crichton said he wasn't interested in making the robots interesting (I think he called them "gadgets") - and didn't want his vision of the future to have any grime or dystopian Big Brother themes. To which the entire target audience of sci fi fans say "Duuuuuuh!"

    EPISODE 114 — Runaway

There is NOTHING after Satan's Alley

    EPISODE 114 — Runaway

Tom Selleck's sidekick is played by the lovely Cynthia Rhodes, who also featured as dancer/doormat in Staying Alive. Her character's back story in Runaway is that she used to be a dancer. So what if this is actually a sequel to Staying Alive with her as the same character??

EPISODE 111 — Hercules in New York: LIVE!

Hmm, I'm not sure, it does seem right for a comedy performer to be rude to their audience. It's not like those lovely nice comedians Don Rickles, Sarah Silverman, Jerry Sadowicz, Andy Kaufman or Jim Jefferies were ever anything but perfectly courteous to the people in the stalls...

The signs of a bad movie list

In London, if the film is being advertised all over the buses, it's a sign the film is shit. Also, if the only review quotes they put on the poster are from The Sun, The Star, or any other publication designed for simpletons. Also: Generic Title: The Needless Punctuation The Clunky Additional Subtitle And when it's a pointless remake of a film that was perfectly good the first time. They're remaking Point Break. For fuck's sake.
