    Episode 294 — Honk Shoo

The guitar riff from the Plugs Theme this week: Can anyone help me find a song that it's from? The only one I could think of when I heard it was "Winnebago!" by The Arrogant Worms, but I'm sure it has to be in something else too. It took me at least 5 minutes of stopping the show and thinking of where I'd heard that particular riff, and when I did the only thing I could think of was that particular obscure Canadian Comedy bit. It seriously made me stop listening to the show because I knew I'd heard it before but couldn't place it. Does ANYONE know another song that it's from? It could be from anything. I mostly listened to the Dr. Demento Show in High School, so I always go for the obscure comedy reference first with any music. It'd be nice to have an original source for this that was a a little more accessible than "WINNEBAGO!". Thank you. Also: Great episode, very strange and fun. Always nice to hear new guests, and plenty to look forward to with the upcoming Womptacular.
  3. I didn't see a place on here to post shows to watch and I figured I'd try and suggest two of the shows that I watch, the "Reality" shows on Spike that seem to be so set up that it's a wonder if these shows aren't set up every step of the way. The show that got me started is World's Worst Tenants and it follows a former Marine who now works in Los Angeles as a Property Manager and goes to different apartments and houses when the owner or neighbors complain. However, what makes this show stand out is how many completely insane things the cast members of the show encounter. In one episode they deal with a guy who keeps a live Alligator in his apartment, another episode has a man keeping bees in his three bedroom apartment and possibly the best episode has a number of Little People living in an apartment that they've converted from two Tall Person sized apartments into 4 Litter Person sized apartments. There is an episode where they catch a sweat shop in the act and there is at least one fist fight per episode. From a tenant skinning animals in his loft to a bunch of rednecks making moonshine this show has everything you could ever ask for in a reality show. In fact it has a little too much and makes me think that the entire show is set up. I'm not saying that it is, I'm sure that they spend months working on the show and that each episode is probably a month of the craziest things that happen to them, but still it seems a little too much for it all to be real. The other show is newer and is called "Urban Tarzan" and is about a man who goes by Urban Tarzan and lives in LA and captures exotic animals for a living. Again the show seems too "Xtreme" to be real reality. If it was just a cobra biting him, that I'd be fine with. If it was just a Lion getting out in the canals where they filmed part of Grease, I'd be fine with it. But when the cops show up at a call that they've already sent Urban Tarzan to, and where Urban Tarzan and his partner had caught two dogs doing it earlier in the week it just seems a little too much. Love the podcast and look forward to more episodes. With the way my luck is I'm sure you'll be talking about these shows on the episode this week since I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.

Episode 56 — Nothing But Trouble

I am glad that you covered this movie. When I was in High School I saw this was on and my family started watching it. For some reason that I'm not 100% sure of now when it got to the part with Mr. Bone Stripper it FREAKED ME OUT. I couldn't watch the movie any more and had to leave the room. I haven't been able to watch the movie since then. I can't explain why that scene freaked me out so much, and it's not like I can't watch gory comedies, I love Shawn of the Dead and I thought Cabin In The Woods was brilliant even though it's got a few moments of extreme gore, it's still not as disturbing as this movie was to me as a teenager. I think the reason this bothered me so much is that the death comes out of nowhere. The tone of the movie didn't seem to be that ominous up until that moment, at least not to my personal memory. It has been around 16 years or so since I actually watched the movie, and since I refuse to watch it I will never know if this comment about tone is actually true or not.

    Evil Bong (2006)

I am not a stoner, and I have never seen any of the movies, so I am going off of the comments on IMDB, YouTube and Amazon for this, but I think that a fantastic selection for the podcast would be the movie Evil Bong. It's about three stoners who get a possessed bong from the back of a magazine that... I don't even know. I can't tell, the trailer is terrible, here, try to decypher it yourself: http://youtu.be/a6hT0qFnucM The second movie is called Evil Bong 2: King Bong and the third is Evil Bong 3: Wrath of Bong. I figure these would make a good movie to watch close to the end of April. And since there are three of them you could have the same guest on each time. Now, if only there were a comedian that loves both Pot and Movies. Hmm... If only there were someone who dug both marijuana and the cinema. Maybe if there were some comic who had a weekly podcast with a nearly impossible to describe movie based game that the guests constantly mess up while playing. What I'm saying is make it up to Doug Benson and have him watch these too. Though they seem pretty terrible, so it might be more of an additional punishment in addition to the Twilight films.
  6. I am apparently the most nervous person in the world. Thank you all for putting up with my stammering and stuttering. Thank you to Matt Besser for letting me on one of my favorite shows. I was wondering who I was talking to on the phone, so thanks to Matt Walsh, Seth Morris and Brian Huskey for the call.
  7. I have to say that I got a little mad at the conversation at the top of this episode. I actually grew up with Antique Cars and can say that the wives aren't ignored and that there is plenty for women to do in the club, and that many wives drive their own cars. There are several women that I can think of that just drive on their own and have husbands who aren't interested and stay at home. I am speaking from a point of view from the Northern California/Bay Area, where the Summer and Fall are warm enough to enjoy driving around in Antique Cars all weekend or on a week long tour. I spent my childhood in the back of these cars. The couples and families were generally very happy and formed a very tight knit community. On the tours while the husbands were working on their cars, there was generally something for the wives to do, like antique shopping. And I can attest that there are a lot of women in the clubs that are very active in finding, restoring and wearing antique clothing. I can't speak for every club across the country, but the 3 or 4 clubs that my family has been part of generally have nice people who enjoy driving around the country side in cars from 90-100 years ago wearing clothes from 90-100 years ago. We got stares and a lot of photos were taken. We were always part of the clubs that actively toured and were never part of the clubs that just go to car shows. The cars still drive and my parents still go on tours regularly. I'm sure that there are jerks out there, but not all people who drive antique cars are jerks. And I want to say, I love the show and am very glad to have a chance to hear professional improv for free. Thank you so much for just that.

    Episode 41 — Surf Lingo

Post-Apocalyptic Novel Suggestion: Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde This is a hard one to explain. It's not your standard Post-Apocalyptic novel. It's like a polite English comedy of manners, but everyone lives in this world where there's not electricity, everyone sees only in grey with splashes of other colors and there's a ranking system based off of what colors you see. And there are hints to The Event that caused this, but as this is the first book of a series(planned at least) it hasn't been explained just yet. I know that it's wordy, but I needed to make sure people didn't mix it up with that other "Shades" book that's been making the news.

Episode 120 — Farts and Procreation

One of my all time favorite episodes. Yes, it's dumb, but it's dumb in the same way the "Limerick Writer" was about a year ago. The idea of taking people with characters that are more of a descriptive sentence than a fully thought out character and forcing them to delve deeper into them is one of the funniest things I've heard in a long time. Having people have to think on their feet and not letting them back down from their choices are one of the reasons I listen to Comedy Bang Bang. I was listening to this while eating lunch at work and I got very strange looks from people as I tried to explain what I was listening to.
