Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was black as coal; and everywhere that Mary went, the lamb consumed her soul.

It followed her to school one day,

the strangest of events;

it made the children laugh and play

and taste its influence.

And so the teacher turned it out,

but back again it came;

although the door was tightly shut,

it vaporized the frame.

"Why does the lamb love people so?"

the kids and teacher say.

"It doesn't," said the lamb, and lo,

it took them all away.
