I can definitely see how his films are incredibly hit or miss. Also, the climactic fight brought me so much joy, I can't even begin to explain. I'm getting over a cold and have a lingering cough so I laughed so hard it launched me into a coughing fit...totally worth it.

Okay, this is a truly fun movie so far (about 20 minutes in). Looks like I'll be on Paul and Zouks' side with this one. Even before I started it I knew I'd love it when I read the director was known as the "Ed Wood of the video era" How can you go wrong there?!

I'd never heard of these prior to this ep, but after reading about them...I kind of want one.

Maybe they weren't laughing because she wasn't being funny, but instead was being truthful and heartfelt? I mean, she would say "And this isn't me joking..." and variations on that. The "dick" conversation was a joke, her talking about the trans and gay issues were not. So a crowd's laughter is not exactly a barometer. Anyway, that's my last post on that subject.

"There is no genocide in this movie. I like this movie." Holy shit Zouks I almost spit out my tea at my computer at work. Well done.

Side note: thank you, Paul, for finally pronouncing the "l" in "howl.fm" The first time I heard that ad I went to "how.fm" and was very confused.

I've never been too into Cameron's stand up, but as a guest/panelist she's really great. She's funny but makes great "serious" points. Don't worry, some of us are with you!

Very well put. I thought the whole "dick" thing was irritatingly off topic but people have issue with Carmen going off topic for what felt like half the time of the dick dusccsion? *shrugs*

Maybe worth noting I couldn't finish the Bloodsport ep because I actually felt that guest was just SCREECHING LOUDLY THE WHOLE TIME and it drove me nuts. So I guess it happens. I take nothing away from folks that didn't care for Cameron.

Only about halfway through, but I felt like I had to come here to say Cameron's brief discussion about Caitlyn and the subtext in this movie was, to put it in her words, really fucking rad! Might have been a little too political and off track for some but I thought it was very well put and articulated. You go Cameron! EDIT: Yeahhhhhhhh I can tell a LOT of people are not happy with that segment. Well, to each their own.

Last thought for now-watching this movie was like a weird time machine in ways to me. I was 19 when this came out, so right around the age of the characters and I thought it was really funny but also sweetly nostalgic how much this movie inadvertently captured 2006. Like I can't really describe it, but man oh man. I guess it was mostly the fashion and the music?

I thought I was losing my mind when I saw this picture (I follow Daisy Ridley in IG). It was either right before bed when I was a lil' tipsy, or right when I woke up the next morning. Either way, I just stared at it in utter confusion.

Zouks' deconstruction of MA geography and his destruction of people from the South shore were enough to make this ep an A+.

So I found this for $3 at a second hand store today and picked it (same as renting it, so why not?) Not even halfway through but my lord is this BROODING. This immediately came to mind:

I just don't understand why it's THAT upsetting to you. Why is it such a big deal? Why do you feel the need to call her an "asshole"? Like, really?

This is a very, very oddly specific timecode and complaint. Did you make a movie she didn't want to watch or something?

Real talk, if I went to that HS with Polly I'd ask her out. Understatedly cute, confident, smart. And as mentioned, a very strong hat game.

The way it kind of pops in and out of the "musical world" is, to quote June...upsetting! Like I get this is about a teen witch and there's a fantasy element to it, but there's no rhyme or reason, really, to when those musical numbers happen. And they have the most repetitive lyrics ever! But you know what? I liked this movie.

Like how her brother called HER a dog but HE turned into one?! Props to that kid actor because goddamn did he play the annoying younger sibling well.
