  1. My dad buys a lot of cheap, crappy DVDs and I caught him watching this steamer and knew I had to bring it to attention. Heaven knows why Sigoney Weaver signed up for this. She plays a pyschotic, rogue plastic surgeon who captures the mafia hitman who murdered her playboy brother and, wait for it, gives him a sex change. Michelle Rodreguez plays the titual character. So many whys for the team. Why not cast a man in the role? Why go to all that trouble when you could've just killed him? Why are the wanted posters cartoon? Why did Weaver need to be in a straight jacket for the 'twist' ending to 'work? Would love to hear a LBGT performer's view on this film as I think it's really transphobic.

  2. I'm not a huge fan of the weird obviously awful films, I prefer the ones where they were trying their best to make a good movie and it just didn't work out.

Also just checking to see if it's just an issue with me but I went to download an old ep today and nothing before episode 140 is showing in itunes?

Agreed. So much funnier when everyone involved is convinced what they are doing is good or 'art'. Don't see the point in taking the mickey out of a film that has gone out its way to be bad. Even Death Spa felt sincere is a weird way.

  3. 1. Was Michael Carrington living in a shed? In one scene he's at a desk writing one of the T-Bird's essays, but the desk appears to be part of a living space, complete with shelves and cot, inside a tiny metal shelter.

Wasn't that the bomb shelter? I would love is during 'Let's Do It For Our Country' they just panned across and he was still there doing someone's homework. 'It's bad enough that I'm doing your English essay, can I at least do it without you trying to commit a sex crime three feet away!'

  4.

When Stephanie goes into her fugue state during the talent show she imagines she is singing a duet with the Mystery Rider. When she is done the crowd goes wild. But what where they seeing exactly? Presumably just her half of the song.

    Perhaps their just pre-internet trolls

'Yay, she's having a mental breakdown! Bravo!'

  5. This is a bit of a first for me as it's the first time I've actually watched a film for the podcast as my telly isn't internet ready and I own the DVD. And you know what, I actually enjoyed it better than Grease. Yes I know it's corny but I truly think the songs are better The only scene that struck me as bad was the one in the bowling alley where people were rotating way too much for any dance number and which also feature a HDTGM classic a nundercover"

  6. Literally why did this happen? I love the original film, adore the stage show, did we need to ruin it with this.

    Low lights include

Nair Staz making Rocky look like a special needs patient

The totally confusion of having a woman who was born a man playing a male part who dresses as a woman as female

    A Magenta who does NOTHING

Tim Curry trying desperately, through age and disability, to raise the creditibility of the whole thing and just reminding us how much better this could be

A flying cinema and a transyvanian dressed as Andy Warhol.

  7. It may be Disney but it's weird, Darryl Hannah's an alien looking for a way to save her planet so that's why she doesn't act human, why noone else does is a mystery. Bizarre costumes, John Lovetz's ADR lines like 'my date is really tall' that make no sense. Animal endangerment and what looks to be a talking one-eyed dildo in a clutch bag.

  8. This one was great. Just a couple of notes from me on this one. I found this movie to be a bit odd in terms of a romantic comedy in that Jason had to put zero effort to attract Jesse. She was just out of the gate in love with him. Which made the later scenes of them going on a date just seem pointless. At least in the first one the similar scenes between Andrew and Kim were at least setting up them getting to know each other and falling in love.

But when Jesse's first words to Jason are that she loves him more than anyone will ever love him. And he never manages to make that love falter for even a second. Despite microwaving orange juice concentrate and attempting to serve it to her. Luckily she'd already mannequined herself.

Also why the fuck did she put the necklack on herself again in the morning, like she didnt know it was going to turn her into a statue?

I can see how some people could be offended by how other characters treat Hollywood Montrose throughout the two movies. I'm forgiving of it just for the fact that not only is his character easily the glue that holds both movies together, he's also as Cameron pointed out, the true hero of this franchise. I think the writers were just more than a bit lazy in thinking up ways to show the villains as shitty people other than having them treat Hollywood like garbage.

Also, I'd forgotten that Kim Cattrall was supposed to be Egyptian in the first movie. And people complain about Tilda Swinton in Doctor Strange.

If we are going to make Mannequin 3:Malequin can I suggest we go the whole hog and make it a gay love story between Hollywood and some gorgeous Greek hero frozen into a male statue by a gorgon?
