EPISODE 111 — Hercules in New York: LIVE!
Bugs Meany replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I'm risking my life here...but did anyone else find this one of the most boring episodes yet? They're just making fun of a cheap B-movie. Too easy. -
Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia
Bugs Meany replied to Jockass's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I remember nothing about this film except the part where the guy wakes up after boning a hooker, pours some whiskey on his junk and picks out some crabs. VOM. -
Have you tried iTunes? It's also available to rent on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LBEUp46NSc

Listen to some live shows. He does a lot of "reverse heckling."
-
Holy crap! Good thing I was only 12 back then. It was OK for me to have feelings about her that I didn't yet understand. I like this Amazon 5-star review. He really sells the great jokes. I wonder if this guy botched the math on purpose.

That's my bad. The Archer spouse is too level-headed for Cage. How the face/off doctor? Cage would take him from brilliant surgeon to mad scientist.
-
If we're including supporting players: Kevin Nash (TMNT 2 and The Punisher) Mark Ginther (TMNT 2 and Con Air)

That's a great point. Maybe he stopped the rape just because he loves kicking ass, but then why teach her Knifeplay 101? There's nothing in it for Castor Troy to show Sean Archer's daughter how to defend herself. (She ultimately uses the knife against him!) Having killed one Archer child, he does what he can to protect the other.
-
Let's not water down the word rape like that. He's creepy and flirty with the daughter, but he doesn't actually try anything. Even if he's the most evil guy in the world, he's not going to blow his cover by crossing that line.
-
I'm about to flip the script on y'all: Jessica Chastain as Shawna Archer and Bryce Dallas Howard as Cassandra Troy. Featuring Patrick Wilson as Shawna's husband, Dr. Evan Archer, and Elizabeth Olsen as Cassandra's younger sister, Polly Troy.

Same here, my brother.

Is Color of Night the only '80s/early '90s erotic thriller they've done? That genre is GOLD.

It is a weird title if you think about it. We lived in LA when I was a kid so I understood it, but were non-locals expected to know where Encino was? Or that it was a place, not an adjective in Spanish? Burbank, which has Disney HQ and an airport, has more name recognition. What's in Encino?

By no means a true breakdown, but they do talk about this very briefly on the Devil's Advocate episode. De Niro's character has a great dumb name: Louis Cypher. Get it???!!! OMG so clever.

Why did they change the theme song?
Bugs Meany replied to Ribelin2000's topic in How Did This Get Made?
They've used that a couple of times in the past, just to mix it up. It's not the new theme song 'til the end of days. -
I did a custom search from the beginning of time up until March 1st (this was taped on 3/14) and there was nothing relevant. So apparently the "face waterfall" as a gesture of affection was born on that Largo stage.
-
It's like when actor types talk about getting their big break. "Judd Apatow called and said he loved my standup act. I was like 'Yeah right!' and hung up!"
-
Sincere compliment: Sean Archer and Castor Troy are pretty awesome names for the main characters.
-
We know that Castor can eat a peach for hours, so...yeah.
-
Re the suggested incest: Gina Gershon does say "He was my brother too" after Pollux was killed, but we're not meant to take that literally.

The signs of a bad movie list
Bugs Meany replied to DeathToMikeyBay's topic in How Did This Get Made?
The thing to watch for is "and" in the writing credits. "Stu & Hank" means they worked together, but "Stu & Hank and Todd" means Todd did a re-write of what Stu & Hank turned in. My sign: the title needs to be explained immediately in the trailer. See: Hall Pass, The DUFF, B.A.P.S. -
I'm 100 percent on board with the face switching. The part that drives me bonkers is that there is nothing keeping Troy in the bed. I know, they assume he's a vegetable. But at least chain him to the bed or post a guard. Have him do one thing to get out. EDIT: Posted too soon. My spiritual soul brother in the audience brought this up at the 1h 18m mark.
-
I hope someone mentions the super-ultra-gross visual conjured up by Castor Troy (Cage), hitting on a stewardess: "I could eat a peach for hours." I believe he ends up killing her, which she probably took as a relief.
-
Don't forget "Big Gun" by AC/DC. That's the one thing I took away from LAH.

Guest Idea: Worst Idea Of All Time Podcast
Bugs Meany replied to gregoryg's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Heard about this on an old Minisode and it sounds like a dumb idea. The podcast itself, not the idea within it. At least pick an interesting bad movie. Grown Up 2 is just a blatant paycheck movie that no one involved would defend if you got them off the record. I don't think it's wrong at all. I need to see some credentials.
