What stood out for me was the Magic 8-Ball scene. This is not at all a slapstick comedy, but in the scene where Eva Mendes is being stood up by Nic Cage at a restaurant, she pulls out a Magic 8-Ball to see if he'll show up. Again, not (intentionally) a comedy. So either she carries one at all times or she requested that the waiter find one for her.

Not only that, Nolan's previous three films were MASSIVELY successful. That's how it got made.

This is hard to quantify but again, is there any comedic potential? There are plenty of things to poke at and question, but that's not the same as HDTGM-style dissection. I'm trying to imagine how this would sound on the podcast and coming up with nothing. ETA: The only funny thing I can imagine is Jason making inappropriate comments about how hot Mackenzie Foy (young Murph) is going to be, but similar ground was already covered on the Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 episode. She played Renesmee [sic], on whom Taylor Lautner's Jacob has "imprinted." Translation: they're eventually going to the bone-zone.

There is zero comedic potential here.

Falling Down is sort of in that category too. Michael Douglas was basically the symbolic white man seeing the world change around him.

Wasn't it his choice? I recall he was basically hitching a ride.

Question I would have asked: Is the title supposed to be a play on Conair, the hair dryer manufacturer?

This falls into the same category as Nothing But Trouble (but obviously not as appalling) and other drab-looking shit from the early '90s: bad, but not in the fun way. Bad in a way that wears you out. You don't want to talk about how bad it is; you just want to put it behind you.

When I want to prove my hipper-than-thou bona fides, I bring up my massive crush on Jenny Lewis circa 1989-1991. (I was born in 1980, she in 1976, so to me she was an "older woman," not a little girl.) I would repeatedly watch The Wizard, Troop Beverly Hills and check the TV Guide every week hoping they'd re-run her episode of Growing Pains, where she played the awesomely named Judy Jones. So it's not a stretch to say I liked her before anyone else.

I wish they'd brought up the music on the Room episode! It was the most dated, bland, generic "slow jams" R&B. Did Tommy see a couple of early '90s movie sex scenes and assume that that's how they all should sound?

But June and Paul are in it. And some friends of theirs. It seems unlikely at best.

I've been going through the back episodes and this is the one I've been avoiding. I started it but so far I'm only halfway through. For me this is the worst movie ever made, and I don't even want to hear hilarious people talking about it. Frankly it annoys the fuck out of me when people call something like The Room the worst movie ever made. That's not what "worst" means. If people enjoy getting together to laugh at how bad a movie is, it is by definition not the worst ever. It's providing entertainment, even if it's unintentional. If anyone voluntarily watches a movie more than once, same thing. "Worst movie ever made"-abuse is far worse than "literally"-abuse. Nothing But Trouble, however, is a MISERABLE experience. It's not "so bad it's good." June calls it "nauseating," which is right on. There's no joy in talking about how awful it is, and you can hear that in this episode. A snuff film would have made for a more spirited, upbeat conversation. If anyone out there is planning to watch this to be an HDTGM completist, please don't. I say that because I care about you.

I'm a new listener/fanatic, burned through every episode in the past few weeks and I'd say this is my favorite. The magic element is that all three enjoyed the movie/franchise both ironically AND sincerely. The energy/excitement level is at max throughout the episode and the guys bring out the best in each other. This and the 88 Minutes episode are start-to-finish GEMS.

I'm a new listener/fanatic. I'd seen the hosts in various projects but only just discovered the podcast. I'm burning through episodes at an alarming rate and will run out pretty soon. That leaves the minisodes and prequels. I've started a few, and based on those and the descriptions for the others, it seems like they're mostly odds & ends. Corrections, omissions, plugs, teases, etc. Are there some minisodes with full-strength HDTGM content?

There's some good "reverse heckling" by Jason in the Devil's Advocate episode.

This reminds me. Rollerball, an earlier Chris Klein flop, was released in 2002 and set in the sadistic dystopia of...2005. That has to be a record for shortest shelf-life.

The 2014 remake is a treasure trove of teen-romance clichés, including: -Boy and girl are from opposite sides of the track, but attend the same public school. -Hot girl is somehow ignored, has no friends. -Girl's dad drops the "Think about your future!" line. -He tries to bribe the boy to leave her alone. -And many more! The 1981 original looks very creepy and inappropriate today. -Girl's parents throw weed parties for high school students. -Girl's mom looks on with love and approval as her teenage daughter bone-zones her boyfriend in the living room. Plus there's some good old fashioned arson and an ugly Tom Cruise.

For me it's the weight loss. Look at her in something like Gia (hubba). Was there anything to improve? She just looks so breakable now. She's been somewhere between "on the thin side" and "frighteningly gaunt" for a solid decade now.
