Yeah, The Thing's failure really hurt Carpenter on a cellular level, as not just a filmmaker and creator, but as a fan of movies, I suspect. Because The Thing From Another World meant so much to John, it bring rejected roundly by critics and audiences hurt him both personally and professionally. But then again, it may have given him even more balls to make such earnest, freewheeling stuff like They Live and Big Trouble In Little China, that we May have been better off for that failure.

Like The IO9 review pointed out, the monsters come in 2 colors: blue for boys, and pink for girls. Fuck You, Movie. They absolutely should do it, but I'm pretty sure it'll fall in the "People we know we're on this film, so we're going to not do it out of respect" umbrella. But for reals...Fuck You, Movie.

I'm not all that sure, honestly, I can't even remember the last time he's done any podcast. Nerdist maybe? Maybe it's not his thing, honestly. Although I seem to remember Paul saying in a minisode, because someone asked, that they want to have him and that they even have a movie they want to do, but have to find the time. Anyone know offhand what ep that was?

I don't remember the scene that well, but knowing Snake, saying he didn't know who the President was was probably more him being super sarcastic. He seems to like getting under peoples' skins.

To turn you onto other awesome synthwave bands that rose up inspired by Goblin and Carpenter's work, you can't go wrong with Carpenter Brut. He's really dark and does amazing work. (Would post a video, but I'm not allowed to, apparently.)

Commentaries with Carpenter and Russell are the best. They're always just shooting the shit like two great friends and almost never directly talk about the movie itself. Usually it comes in passing. This is usually how it goes: JC: So, I really like this shot. Our cinematographer was great. *takes drag of his cigarette* KR: Hey, How's your son's hockey team doing this. JC: Pretty good! Cody scored two goals last week. *takes drag of his cigarette* KR: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! JC: *takes drag of his cigarette* If I could, I'd do a whole DVD of just their commentaries.

I think Blake Plisskin's biggest crime, and this is only speculation on my part, is that he didn't know who Jason was. I think he's just a giant Snake Plisskin fan, and came not knowing what HDTGM was. Then trying to throw out the joke didn't help his case. *cue sad finger guns gesture*

Zouks is officially my favorite of the trio. His love of Carpenter and synths has put him over the top for me. Also, it's safe to say Snake Plisskin's Moist Socket will officially be the worse board member name here. I feel sorry for the poor sap who has that one!

Such lunacy, especially when you consider that Roth, like you said, changed nothing but take out the goofiness of it. Which was about it's only saving grace. I can't think of a person that I dislike in the genre more than Roth, and that includes Herr Doktor Uwe Boll.
