    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

Right? There were definitely some cannibalism undertones in that song. I wondered if they overworked these poor orphans to death and how best to get rid of the body? They ate them. Interesting. I thought they were Appalachian hillbillies, but not necessarily Southern. Maybe because The Gogans were just one generation away from becoming the family from The X-Files Home episode - and that took place somewhere North-ish. Before I read the rest of the post, I was thinking Pete is Bucky, Gogans are Hydra, Nora is Capt America, Lampy is Stark...

^ That's creepier than the original.

Wait. A. Minute. I've still got stuff* to say. Did you notice the band on Shelley Winters' hat? Is that supposed to be a piece of rope or a braid from a previous orphan that she cut off? I had fun pretending it was the latter. * I didn't say it was important stuff.

    Nine Lives (2016)

The former. I think the cat's soul goes into the comatose Kevin Spacey? That part was a bit unclear. Otherwise, the movie makes total sense.

I'm thinking Nora encounters townsfolk who tell her all sorts of things. I think you get used to it when you live in a town rampant with alcoholism.

Yes! I loved that growing up. To this day, I like artificial grape flavor. Lol @ "it tastes awful" is a selling point.

Lol, no that's purple "stuff." Purple drank is prescription purple colored cough syrup abused for recreational drug use. In this instance I was referring to the purple children's cold syrup. It's the most delicious artificial grape flavor.

    You've never had purple drank?

Seriously. Their "oriental oil" was from Paris.

At first I read this too quickly and thought it WAS Kiel. Then I read it more carefully and was disappointed. I spy a bobo Frank Stallone over bobo Jaws' shoulder.

I also couldn't pin down the time period. I wasn't sure if the clothes were from a certain time period or maybe it was modern-yet-quaint fishing village chic? Also adding to my time confusion was Lampy's modern bicycle.

    Musical Mondays Week 9 Pete's Dragon (1977)

In addition to Elliot's dental issues, I was concerned with Lampy's long-term chronic alcohol abuse and how nobody else was concerned about it! More specifically, I was concerned about Lampy developing/having Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome (WKS). It's caused by a deficiency in thiamine (vitamin B1), which is an essential nutrient, especially for the brain. Most long-term alcoholics are thiamine deficient. This can lead to WKS, which is characterized by confusion, poor muscle coordination, and memory problems. Sound like someone we know? Anyway, this has been a PSA.

This was a pleasant-enough movie and the HD version looked great. Weird thing is, I watched this only 4 days ago, but I don't recall any of the songs.

That dragon has, at best, 2 working teeth. He would not be able to chew these apples. Poor Elliott is pretending to gum those apples for Pete's sake. Also, I didn't understand how Pete went to sleep in a fallen log in a muddy forrest and woke up in an apple orchard? No. Not whole like that with the peel and seeds. Slice them up and bake them in a pretty mosaic tart with salted caramel? Yes. I realize Elliott might not be up to date on baking blogs, however. The dragon tuba-speak gibberish got old real fast for me.

Musical Mondays-Week 4-Beauty and the Beast

I saw B&B the Thursday night of opening weekend and had a really fun time. I also liked Luke Evans as Gaston - so much that at times I found myself wanting him to win and get that Beast. I wouldn't be mad if someone made a Gaston/LeFou spinoff/prequel.

    Episode 159.5 - Minisode 159.5

    Confirmed: Enya, not a Sleepwalker.
  19. Ugh, that guy again?
  20. Again, I agree with you, kateacola. He was a total qt in Grease. Are you trying to trick me into talking about the movie prematurely? If so, you succeeded.
  21. He looked awful! Barf.
  22. Same, kateacola. I saw Jeff Conway was in this, but I didn't know who he was. Kept waiting for him to appear and only after the movie ended I found out who he was.
  23. Cam Bert's mom is going to have a difficult week with Pete's Dragon.
  24. You didn't rate it on letterboxd either!
