Episode 157 - Surf Ninjas: LIVE!

Oh, and the game is called "Columns." Was this a shoutout to Tetris? ETA: Earlier in the movie, when the little brother first discovers that his Game Gear shows future events, he asks "Where's Shinobi?" referring to the Shinobi game. But here, it is shown that he has been playing Columns instead. I guess he could've switched cartridges, but why would anyone mess with the game once you find out that the current setup can show you the future?

Episode 157 - Surf Ninjas: LIVE!

I noticed that the little brother marries the ketchup to the mustard. Gross. Also, the guy on the right is Mitch Hurwitz! I wondered what he was doing there.
  3. I don't understand this. Tommy the musical opened at La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, California, on 1 July 1992.
  4. Oh good, they picked a photo that showcases his triangle eyes.
  5. I guess he's good looking enough, but not hot. He has pretty hair though.
  6. Cats = giant floating tire. Kind of like a reverse chandelier. "There goes dad again with his ad libbed hysterical sobbing."
  7. I just noticed this regarding Peter's denial. I wonder how she knew. She wasn't at the last supper. OR WAS SHE. We're back on the case, fellas!
  8. Wait, are you saying Peter denied him just once, but people thought it was 3 times due to his stutter?
  9. I agree. His predictions were so specific. Maybe it's not a miracle, but we should add it to the list of his superpowers.
  10. But wasn't JC able to predict the future? He said he would be denied and betrayed. Does this not count as a miracle?
  11. It should obviously be called Mary Mandarene Magdalene and the Superstar. I liked the bits and pieces of her story and wish there was more. She's JC's personal head/foot ointment applier and what else? They implied they were in love, but later, Mary sings that if JC told her that he loved her, she'd be frightened. "What's it all about?" So he hasn't even told her that yet? Jesus. (She should've been at the Last Supper too.)
  12. You can't spell Mary Magdalene without manda...rene. Just saying. ETA: damn it cakebug
  13. I'm sure everyone saw this: But you know what? They could've used more mandarins (ok, oranges).
  14. You should watch it!
  15. Can 4th be mandarin fruits? LOL. The mandarin citrus fruit didn't exist in JC's time.
  16. Why not both? A general comment about the music in JCS. Although JCS is billed as a rock opera, I didn't think it was "rock" like Tommy. Tommy had in-your-face guitar riffs, while JCS had ragtime dance breaks. I really felt like JCS was closer to Cats (again, not a bad thing). The standard orchestration for Tommy is drums, bass, guitar 1 & 2, horn, and keyboard. That's it. On the other hand, JCS's is more like a regular pit orchestra than a rock band.
  17. Btw, feel better soon, Cam Bert!
  18. I didn't understand why the mob/crowd adored JC earlier in the movie and then wanted him dead in these scenes. Are these different groups of people?
  19. Maybe JC DIY'ed them using his carpentry background.
  20. Your post was more entertaining than some parts of the movie itself, lol. And it was educational!
  21. Thanks for being patient with my questions. I'm just like, "who is bible?" So, if they didn't know that JC was a regular person with no powers, why did they think that he could? Ah, that makes more sense. I thought Judas was referring to the literal mandarin fruit lol.
  22. Agree about the location. It was almost distracting! It was definitely too hot - did anyone notice how sweaty the dancers were in Simon Zealotes?
