Musical Monday Week 36 Om Shanti Om

WHYYYYYY did they get rid of his mustache? It was the best villain calling card.
  2. Yes, but which Indiana Jones? ETA: Oh, nvm.

Oh and also, some of those dance numbers looked like very intense cardio. I was thinking Bollywood should be the next Zumba, but turns out I was a few years behind.

Do you know of any examples though? Was it a specific film or films that used the mountains as a backdrop?

Musical Monday Week 36 Om Shanti Om

I literally Googled "Bollywood actor who always covers his face" and Manoj Kumar came up. His trademark hand-covering-the-face was very popular and continues to be the butt of jokes of latter day stand-up comedians. In 2007, the Shah Rukh Khan film Om Shanti Om featured the lead character pretending to be Manoj Kumar so as to sneak into a movie premiere, by holding his hand over his face. Kumar filed a lawsuit, which was settled out of court.

Musical Monday Week 36 Om Shanti Om

I gasped when I realized Mike was going to kill Shanti and HIS UNBORN CHILD. That's a level of evil you don't see much in a fun, colorful musical. So, did Shanti ever get a happy ending? Sure, she got her killer in the end, but what happens to her after that? Does she get reincarnated too? And when Om started having flashbacks to his previous life, did anyone wonder how he was able to "remember" the final conversation between Shanti and Mike? Om was down at the fountain at the time, so how did he know? Unless Shanti incepted her ghost memories in him? Also, when Om got his memories back, do you think he realized it was his new dad that ran him over with the car?

Musical Monday Week 36 Om Shanti Om

I preferred the first third of the movie. I was all in within like 5 minutes of the movie. Then the movie just kept going and going and going. I think I would have liked it more if I was able to break it up. A few people have mentioned that they couldnt identify the special appearances and cameos. I had the same experience, but even more than that, I wish I knew more about the cultural references. For example, there's an entire discussion in the beginning about good names for a hero. What makes a name better? Are some of these names jokes? I don't know! Also, please correct me if I'm wrong, but Shanti was already married to the Bond villain Mike, right? So why was he showing her the set as a future venue for their wedding? Maybe its a cultural thing to be married on paper, but then have a ceremony later? I don't know! I wish I knew what the pop culture references were too. During the awards ceremony, they show little clips of the nominated actors in movies that are clearly parodies, right? Why was Om in 2 movies that were basically the same, the only difference being the actress? I don't know! I guess what I'm saying is, this movie gave me a major case of FOMO.

    Episode 185 - Adore

Who wouldn't want to stay married if there was a beach house involved?
  12. OMG get a room already you two. That felt good.

But they brought their shotguns to the wedding? Did any part of the "wedding get up" involve camo?

WTF at this photo they use on his wikipedia page! It's like those pics of pandas without their black eye circles.
  16. The tv version is very different from the movie, so you might like it. Her best tweet was her clapback at O'Reilly.

    Episode 185 - Adore

I dunno if they accepted that right then and there. To me it felt more like resignation. They couldn't come up with a plausible explanation for Ian's tirade so they let the wives leave without a fight. What could they say? "It's not what it looks like" wasn't going to fly. And then we see the foursome on the floating swimming platform. Maybe they were drying off and thinking about the upcoming custody battles lol. In an interview for Adore, Anne Fontaine (the director) has said "My point was not to establish what is morally reprehensible or not, I have no reason to judge these characters, and pronounce them guilty or innocent. The real question is why do we do things we know will raise issues - to say the least..." So that's her point of view at least.
  18. We'll have to wait for Cam Bert's mom's verdict.

I assumed he got in that production due to his father's help not necessarily that he went there.

    Episode 185 - Adore

Maybe they thought they could bypass college. Ian (the blonde one) probably didn't need to go to college since he could (and did) go work at his mother's yacht firm. And I thought Tom (the brunette) was able to break into the theater world by leveraging his father's connections at Sydney.

    Episode 185 - Adore

I felt like the events did affect the 4 characters emotionally, but it was kind of one-note. Basically, everyone was jealous all the time. Tom witnesses a pantless Roz leaving Ian's bedroom and what does he do? Sleeps with Lil. Tom gets married and both Lil and Roz are jealous of Tom's wife and Ian's dance partner, respectively. Roz breaks it off with Ian in part, I think, because she wants to spare Lil of jealousy. Ian sees Tom and Lil going against their group pact and the shit hits the fan. I'm speaking in broad terms, and surely there were other emotions involved, but to me a big theme of the movie was jealousy. Well, jealousy and salads. Was it me or were they always eating salads? ETA: Salads. In white bowl in lower right corner: Ian mixing salad in the background: Lil mixing salad in the background: Salad in the lower right corner:
