So this was Judy's last film with MGM and it ... Did not go well. She was supposed to be in Annie Get Your Gun but she got suspended from the studio and went to rehab. So this was her first picture back. Gene Kelly did the film as a favor to her. So you have Judy whose shaky both emotionally and according to the director at times physically. They had to nail down parts of the scenery so she would have supports . Apparently he had to cheat a shot when she was unable to walk up some steps. According to the costume designer she was absolutely paranoid about her weight and her view that she was not working at her best and the more she tried to keep it all together worse she got. There were times when she literally did not show up on set. She was supposed to be in the Heavenly Music number but just... Never showed. Yet even with all of this the movie wasn't over budget and was on time. With the exception being Get Happy which was shot several months after the movie wrapped. Judy had been to a hypnotist for weight loss and that's why she looks so different there. The cast and crew loved Judy Garland and wanted to help her be a success. Even Louis B. Mayer her sometime arch nemesis said, when asked if maybe they should stop production, " Judy Garland has made this studio a fortune in the good days, and the least we can do is to give her one more chance. If you stop production now, it'll finish her." After Summer Stock Judy tried to film Royal Wedding with Fred Astaire but her old problems came back and she was fired. I just wanted to say how proud I am of June for getting arrested today at the weekly climate change protest. I'm miffed that all the articles about it talk about Robert Kennedy Jr. Like we care about him when Actress/Activist June Diane Raphael is in the mix! I feel like that should be the next teepublic shirt.

I stand with June. If this man was SO unhealthy that strenuous sex could kill him he would know that. It's then his decision to take part in that possibly deadly activity. While the cocaine in the nosespray ultimately played a major role in his death, he would have to know that he was taking his life in his own hands . To be that unwell you would have to know your health risks. To some extent he knew and accepted that he might die, much like an extreme sports fan. It didn't keep him from his activities but he had to acknowledge that fact.

I cannot express how much having something like The Jane Club could have helped my mother. My mom was a single mother and was also very dedicated to her career. She also had to deal with a nurodivergent child. On her own . I wonder what she could have achieved if she had had a place like The Jane Club where she could go to work and take me along. I remember when she was a in quality auditing for a bloodbanking company/ organization that she would bring me to work with her on the weekends and I would literally wonder the building going into any unlocked room I could find like an absolute feral menace. I realize now as an adult they 100% probably had security cameras and my mom 100% got yelled at. The only thing that makes me feel a bit sad about the Jane Club is from what I know you have to pay to be a member and it looks pretty pricey so it makes me think about mothers like my mom who would have benefited greatly from such a place but could never have been able to afford it. Hopefully in the future they make scholarships or grants available for care givers who are less financially well off.

For a Star Wars rip off that features prominent bikinis I want to take a moment to remember my favorite ( and possibly only) Star Wars fact I know thanks to Carrie Fisher's fantastic book Wishful Drinking. Apparently George Lucas thinks space is an underwear free zone because "you go to space and you become weightless...But then your body expands??? But your bra doesn't — so you get strangled by your own bra." (This might be my favorite of many amazing parts of Wishful Drinking). Carrie wrote that was how she wanted her obituary to read. Drowned in moonlight, strangled by her own bra. I still think about that line sometimes because it's just so utterly Carrie.

I have a very silly, embarrassing, and ( in my mind) hilarious confession to make. When I heard the name of the movie I misheard Paul and my brain autofilled in what it thought he said. So instead of Starcrasher *I* heard Starchaser. This is funny because for some reason I can't explain I was convinced that was the name of what might be Disneyland's worst ride ever Superstar Limo. No matter how many times I am told it's not I can't seem to grasp that. I basically thought that this was a Pirates Of The Caribbean scenario based on terrifying C list celebrity puppets stuck in a neon hellscape. I went full June you guys. I went FULL June.

How was Sarah dressing like a goth? A grey t-shirt black kegging or jeans and a black vest do not a goth make. This is goth slander and I for one will not have it! I loved the sexy bad girl vampires outfits they were just so wholesome. I love these types of things and their versions of what a "bad" girl/guy wears or what is fashion risk. It's for kids so it has to be tame but still be "wild". So it's usually a shorter skirt over legging things or layered tops... So much layering. So many needless ridiculous accessories! I love to hate it.

How the fuck did he find this therapist? Does she specialize in vampires? She said something about keeping the neck brace on because this wasn't her first time or something like it was to protect her neck from him or help him by not seeing her jugular ( Yet she's wearing it during the phone call. So was she attacked by a former patient? Is that what she meant?!) . She was always 100% on board no questions about the idea this kid thinks he was turned into a vampire by a weird exchange student ( and maybe sexuality assaulted?) . Also fully ok with hearing that he supposedly had his teeth ground down even though that would do nothing to stop the jaw pain he was experiencing. Like not worrying that her client is making rash cosmetic surgery decisions... Especially if he is in fact a new vampire. I've spent too long trying to understand Elizabeth Berkley's motivation for acting like an electrocuted salmon during the pool sex scene. I mean I have lots of time but I'm unique in my situation. I noticed someone kind of stole one from me in the Hercules one but I'm not 100% sure if they did because it was based on Greek mythology. In their defense I did a deeper dive into the topic then they did but some of it sounded similar but again, Greek myths. I'm fine either way because it's one of my favorite subjects and I will read up on it for fun whenever I get the tiniest reason to do so, so I didn't mind much if they did. Also I think it's weird for the ones that I have heard verbatim copying on the calls because I feel like they took the time to find something but get none of the joy of interacting with everyone in the group. A hollow victory in a way. Sure you got on the episode but most of the fun is on here! I find a lot of times alcohol just let's out the thing that you want deep down because it lowers your inhibitions.
