  1. Example: Judge Dredd was remade, because the consensus on the original is that it was bad. The remake took itself seriously, stayed within the world built and made the Villian a greater challenge to defeat.

    My pick: Spawn!

The remake could take a realistic approach similar to the batman trilogy, dive into the villains that are more plausible (mammon); fully take advantage of an R rating.

Very cool idea, wtfMichaeldorn. I have been told I have 'questionable' taste in movies. I prefer the term 'eclectic', personally. There has even been a few HDTGM films that I thoroughly enjoyed (unironically). I actually limited myself to 5 this time around, but I could keep going.

Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead - My sister hated this movie when we were little and I loved it (and still do) it's impossibly fun. I have a lifelong respect for petty cash because of this movie.

The Island - Aha! Michael Bay sci-fi thrill ride. I guess I have a bit of an Ewan McGreggor blindspot, but I love this movie. It's got a lot of good stuff in it and I always want people to give it a chance.

She's The Man - No excuses, I just think it's funny. Amanda Bynes was in her weird silly element in this one. I also love Just One of the Guys too, and White Chicks and now I'm thinking if there are any other movies that play with gender roles...

Speed Racer - Everything about this movie minus Spritle and Chim Chim. The colours, the cartoon-style action and the talking head wipes... I can't think of anything else like it on such a big scale, but I love it.

Center Stage - Give me all the ballet academy melodrama!!

With the exception of Center Stage(I haven't seen it) I did enjoy these movies. I feel so bad for Amanda Bynes.

  3. What are your top 5, bad/odd movies. That you know are bad/odd movies and the mass public hate, but for whatever reason you love that quirky movie(s)

My Top 5 (no particular order):

Gattaca: love this movie, may possibly be my favorite of all time. Every time I have told someone about the greatness of this movie, they either haven't seen it or hated it with a passion.

Son in Law: Someone in my family had this on VHS, I watched this movie over and over, mostly because I loved Pauly Shore.

House Arrest: This one admittedly is nostalgia and I have not watched it in well over a decade and a half. I know it's Terrible, but as a child locking your parents in a basement was epic. Lol. This movie falls in the category of I will never watch it because I don't want to ruin the good memories.

Delirious : After watching 'Uncle Buck' as a kid I would watch anything John Candy related, I ran into this movie and it became a favorite of my siblings and I.

Encino man: Movie makes zero sense, but all the silliness of it made me laugh historically. Today my friends know me as the guy who does not enjoy comedies, but these fracked me up regularly as a kid.

  4. I found Circle by chance on Netflix when I was doing my yearly horror marathon last October. I liked the idea of basically exaggerating the stereotypes in order for this "game" to play out and the audience has to learn along with the players what they are actually dealing it. Another great one that was on Netflix last I checked is called Exam and like Circle is made up of character actors or extras, I think Colin Salmon is the biggest name in the cast, but it works well as a single room movie. It basically involves a handful of people who are competing for a job, the audience doesn't know what the job is, and the interviewees really don't either to an extent, and they are tasked with answering a single question in order to try and get the job. The trick though is they don't know what the question is, they can't leave the room or ask the armed guard in the room for help, and they can't alter the test paper that they are given in any way whatsoever. The chemistry between the actors is great because it builds the story through dialogue and some actions, rather than the other way around.

I will certainly gal a look at the exam, thanks.

  5. I love this movie! Sure it's difficult having a movie where everyone is supposed to be absent of feelings. I took it as you can never truly have a society void of feelings. Although, this is not the first time I have heard this movie compared to the matrix, I believe the two movies differ greatly. For me, this movie is on par or greater than the matrix.

  7. I've been a fan of Paul since his Human Giant days & saw that he had a podcast, so I checked it out.

I think this was like, 3 or so years ago?

    Been hooked ever since!

Haha just realized Paul is on 'The League' great show if anyone hasn't seen it. Extremely vulgar the character Ruxin is exactly like my father.

  8. I will say that this is certainly the most unique request for a well received movie that I have seen. You seem very earnest and nice in your request and even admit that you think it's pretty good. People usually come in, suggest a movie like this, say something like "Can you believe people actually think this piece of crap is good?" and are never seen from again.

In all honesty, my favorite HDTGM episodes are movies I enjoy or somewhat enjoy; or moderately like. The ones I enjoy less are the ones that I completely disliked to the point where it was unwatchable.

I am that guy, that has walked out of bad movies, fallen asleep, or in the days of rentals (is blockbuster still around?) return it early.

Granted, I haven't seen this movie in years, but I have to agree with Lando. I think that the best types of movies for this show to poke fun at are movies that generally fail at their intent and in their execution. While I see your points, they all work within the world the film makers were creating. They set out to make a movie about reality television carried out to extreme and absurd lengths, and that's what they delivered.

To be clear, I'm in no way a fan or advocate of Jim Carrey, or even this movie for that matter (I think I may have seen it once), but to me, suggesting The Truman Show would be akin to recommending The Naked Gun for the show because it doesn't provide an accurate portrayal of police work.

All great points, you've made me see the light. Lol, but can we please do 'garbage pail kids'

  10. Huh? What's wrong with this movie? Why would this be good movie to mock?

I actually enjoy this movie, but the implausible story plot is what I believe can lead to great laughs.

    Examples:

Kid is adopted by movie studio and forced to live in a reality show, with no knowledge of the world around him.

A dome that probably cost billions of dollars to create to hide the outside world from Truman.

They try to kill him on live TV with lightning that they have managed to control with great accuracy.

It's a very far-fetched story, enjoyable, but out there.

  11. This movie about a man who decides to create his own reality show , where he breaks the law repeatedly and gets arrested. During the process he becomes, rich and famous like sponge bob type of recognizable fame.

Including this play within the movie based on Ronnie
