I'm almost certain Platoon would win, but I also thought that American Beauty was a shoo-in, so what do I know?

They've never really told us when the exact cut off for voting is, so some of the votes may have been cast after the new episode was ready to go out. I wish they'd tell us the exact last minute that we can vote.

I think Dawn of the Dead would stomp Shaun of the Dead. Dawn vs. Night of the Living Dead would be a more interesting episode.

Suggestion: Monty Python and the Holy Grail vs. Life of Brian
JonHillman posted a topic in Movie Suggestions
I already suggested this at the old forum, but the new forum seems to be more active so I wanted to get people's reactions here. There's been a long debate among Monty Python fans as to which of these is their best film, and I say we put it to rest. I'd currently root for Holy Grail, but I'm willing to listen to arguments for the other side. -
This is me, minus the beard.

I think the only time there's been a tie so far was giving Empire Strikes Back and Jurassic Park each another chance. The next episode was when Elijah Wood came to do The Goonies, so they got him to break the tie.

I was sure this was going to get in based on the Homework thread, but being behind 35-19 doesn't look too promising. Amy's main argument, as far as I could tell, for why this shouldn't be in is that there is already too much like it in the canon. My problem with this argument is that it implies that the canon only has a finite amount of space, and that Re-Animator's inclusion would mean that something doesn't get in in the future. Obviously we don't want to let just everything in, otherwise what's the point, but I'm all in favor of a more accepting canon. I feel that Re-Animator is one of the defining horror films of the 80s, created too many stars, and yes, is an all around fun film. A big YES from me.

They could have a great discussion on just the final scene. Or a stupid one. Either way, I want this episode.
-
But would you put this one in?

I'd love an episode on "The Player".

This is probably my second favorite of his films after Halloween, so I was really worried that there wouldn't be a lot of love for it. This board has made me feel a bit better.

Everyone needs a good Carpenterthon from time to time.

I think Black Orpheus could be a great episode.

PROPOSAL: All "versus" episodes have a "neither" option
JonHillman replied to action52's topic in The Canon
You can just see yourself right on out. -
How is it sexist?

Is accused of having done.

I vote a big yes. Just to jump on the Amy hate bandwagon (I'm kidding, I still love you even if your reasoning infuriates me sometimes), if you think Mills is stupid for not knowing Paradise Lost or knowing how to pronounce Marquis de Sade, then you must think that most people in the world are pretty stupid.

Looking to source a quote from Devin... For University Paper

Not sure, but this will tell you how to cite a podcast, for anyone interested: https://www.easybib.com/guides/citation-guides/mla-format/podcast/ -
They were saying that this will be the most recently made movie to make it in that wasn't a best of the year episode, but you're correct that Mad Max:Fury Road is newer.

Suggestion: Spider-Man 2 vs X-Men 2
JonHillman replied to ThomasMariani's topic in Movie Suggestions
It may be an interesting conversation, but I don't think either of them are Canon worthy. -
The first time I watched this, I expected to watch the trilogy over the course of three nights or even a week. As soon as each film finished, I immediately put the next on, and this has been one of my favorite series of films ever since. I'm seriously wondering what kind of cold bastard could even vote no on this. A very hardy yes from me, anyway.

I love this movie, but I'm afraid it wouldn't get in and my heart would be broken.

I doubt they would ever do this one because of its length, but a Berlin Alexanderplatz episode would be amazing.

I'm talking Murnau's Nosferatu (1922) vs. Herzog's Nosferatu (1979). Despite more or less telling the same story, they are so drastically different in many regards.
