    The Tuxedo (2002)

No. How dare you bring The Running Man into this discussion. That's a masterpiece. Regarding the year, this is a screen grab from the opening of the film. Could be reality before we know it (minus the oil)!
  2. I said a hip hop, the hippie, the hippie, to the hippies?!?! Damn you hippies!
  3. If you assuage all the sausage, you'll be left with an inedible indelible. It's all about the anagrams, baby!

    Nightbreed (1990)

You missed the best part if you bailed on the second half. It is completely bananas. Moving on, What About Bob is a solid choice for a nightcap.

    Trailer Talk

Admittedly as a disclosure, I am not a fan of superhero movies. My brother and I read comic books as kids, but I never stuck with them. He's still a fan, though probably mostly out of having a son who's obsessed with superheroes. I have a son obsessed with superheroes, but he's only four, so he is pretty limited in what he's seen. Now, down to brass tacks. I saw three superhero movies for the first time over the last week, because they're currently On Demand. 1. I watched The Avengers (2012) last week. Not my cup of tea, but I can see why people are big fans. B-. 2. I had Friday off from work and watched Deadpool. Really good. Solid B/B+. 3. Then saw Guardians of the Galaxy Sunday and then rewatched most of it last night. Holy cow. A-. --Rad vintage soundtrack. --Unique, interesting characters. I was unfamiliar with the story and it makes me want Marvel to put out more from lesser-known characters. --Ronan is a badass and I kind of wish he was only kind of dead for a potential sequel appearance. --Space! --Groot is awesome. I'm indifferent on Rocket and Gamora. --I'm a straight, married guy with kids...and now have a bit of a man crush on Chris Pratt. --Why not an A or A+? Some too-corny moments and Drax. No, not excited about Drax in the sequel. So yeah, consider me excited for GotG Part Deux. Until I saw Elie's post, I had no idea that a trailer was even out. It made my day!

Erhm....."really plain looking in comparison"? In comparison to what, a rainbow-belching unicorn with a heart of gold and smile to match?!?! Yeah, I guess she'd be "really plain looking in comparison" to something like that. Who's the wonk who uttered that quote? It wasn't Donald...was it?

Eh, probably has a vicious mean streak, which includes not tipping at least 15% on meals.
  12. I think you skipped film masochism and dove directly into cinematic immolation with these two picks. Those are just bad, rather than good bad.

    Episode 148 - Vampire's Kiss: LIVE!

Any other week, and I think you'd have a valid argument. However, the orange-hued embodiment of some of this film's sentiment just won arguably the most powerful position on the planet. While I can't say it struck the same chord with me, I can see how this was a difficult one-two punch last week. One odd point from the Time to Kill, which I mentioned in another post. It's from the same year and also features a Cage rape. Very strange.

    Episode 148 - Vampire's Kiss: LIVE!

Just saw this beauty. Tour de Force from Sir Nicolas Cage. Multiple samples from Vampire's Kiss.

    Episode 148 - Vampire's Kiss: LIVE!

From what I can now tell, Sir Nicolas Cage's batshitedness started long ago. I initially assumed (incorrectly) it was later in life when he went off the deep end. Vampire's Kiss was 1989, when he also starred in an Italian film called Time to Kill. It sounds bonkers, and it looks like he was up to the task. https://www.wikiwand...ill_(1989_film)
  16. Has this been discussed? No? WHY THE HELL NOT? Paul is getting in the Cage with Nic Cage! VOD film Army of One, dropping in November. http://deadline.com/...one-1201411198/ Oh, and I'm not bringing this up to mock Paul or have them do the show. I want the story behind Paul's introduction! With Paul, Ken Marino and Cage in it, I'm interested.

    The Sea of Trees (2015)

This one looks like a good candidate for HDTGM. Full of talent, though bathed in garbage. https://en.wikipedia...he_Sea_of_Trees Some of the reviews are...breathtaking. It's not even out yet. The Sea of Trees was panned by critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a rating of 0%, based on 12 reviews, with an average rating of 2.4/10. At its May 2015 debut at the Cannes Film Festival, the film was met with harsh critical reception; it was loudly booed and laughed at by an audience of critics, with critic Scott Foundas calling it a film "for nobody." Critic Richard Mowe stated this audience reaction should "give the film’s creative team pause for reflection about exactly where they went so badly awry." Justin Chang, chief film critic for Variety, deemed the film "dramatically stillborn, commercially unpromising" "Almost impressive in the way it shifts from dreary two-hander to so-so survival thriller to terminal-illness weepie to M. Night Shyamalan/Nicholas Sparks-level spiritual hokum, this risibly long-winded drama is perhaps above all a profound cultural insult, milking the lush green scenery of Japan’s famous Aokigahara forest for all it’s worth, while giving co-lead Ken Watanabe little to do other than moan in agony, mutter cryptically, and generally try to act as though McConaughey’s every word isn’t boring him (pardon the expression) to death." "complete lack of narrative momentum, it all adds up to a film that's easily Van Sant's worst, and is a sad black mark on McConaughey's mostly excellent recent run. Ultimately, "Sea of Trees" feels like an entirely appropriate title: it makes you feel like you're drowning, and it's full of sap."

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

Halloween 1 and 2 are the only ones really worth watching, although critics at the time were pretty sour on the second one. The first was so groundbreaking that it was a tough act to follow. Still a good watch. Part 3 is nuts and might have been ok as a standalone film, but not having Michael Myers really hamstrings the film's potential favorability. After that, don't bother. You inspired me to finish Hush after I started watching a few minutes once before, and oh my damn. One of the better films of any genre that I've seen in a while. I looked at the time elapsed around 20 minutes into the film when the intensity started picking up, and said, "what the hell are they going to do for the next hour?" They definitely keep it interesting! For sure a film I recommend.

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

The original Halloween is excellent. One of the only films I've ever found legitimately suspenseful. I started watching Hush on Netflix and really liked it, but for some reason couldn't watch it in full. Definitely one high on my list to finish. I can't think of any horror films that have a deaf leading character, which is reason enough to pique my interest. Oh, and I read that Stephen King thinks it's great.

    The Lords of Salem (2012)

The cast includes an actor named Richard Fancy.

    Episode 147 - Gamer: LIVE!

You attended?!?! Lucky! Because I wasn't in the audience, I'm just going to assume Zouks went as Angela from Sleepaway Camp or Bohdai from Solarbabies. Those make the most sense.
  24. Always my favorite line: "Wolfman wolfed down Frankenstein's ass." Poetry.
