I thought maybe the meatless meatballs were visually different from regular meatballs to where you might turn up your nose at them, but a quick Google search shows they just look like meatballs. So yeah, if you're ordering freaking tofu dogs and burgers, you got no right to scoff at someone's meatless meatballs. Wtf.

I feel like I'm replying late, but Nah, the ancient mmorpg of Ragnarok Online. It's pretty relaxing. This reminds me so much of when I wanted to do a print for a new anime series and BOTH ideas I had for it, I ended up finding that other artists had already done, so I gave up on that one. It was fine, because the other artists did really nice work (and the market was kind of oversaturated anyway lol). It just happens, especially when there's like-minded people around. I'm sure this is just my problem, but being a little sleepy and because you're CakeBug, I first read "Etymology" as "Entomology". When he did that I was mostly focused on my puzzle and glanced up at the TV like "who is he singing to? is his crew there? why is Roger there?" I'm still confused.

I was playing a video game, but I will mention I've never tried Indian food. I am a wimp when it comes to spices. On the food topic, the guy running the restaurant was a total wimp for someone not wanting them in his establishment lol

Ohhh that is awesome!! And yeah, I think the costuming didn't work well in the movie, especially with the line during Angel's funeral "you'd find an old table cloth on the street and make a dress..." but all of her outfits looked store bought, not homemade, so I was confused. I kept wondering how much money she made by killing that dog lol

I didn't take any issue with Mimi. I more took issue with Roger jumping all over the place. Being all like: I'll light your candle. Get out of my house! I'm sorry let's go out. (Doesn't speak to Mimi during the party.) Oh I have baggage but I love you. How dare you date Benny before you even met me! Like do you like her not?? You're being kind of a major dick. I hope he's not quite this obnoxious in the stage version.

Nah I hear you. I knew an artist who had studio space at that old factory and she let me use it during off hours to work on paintings when I was in art school and it was soooooooo fucking nice. But I can't even dream of affording something like that. It's not faaaaair

If it helps you feel better, just think back on how Mark was the 7th wheel during the La Vie Boheme sequence. I think I side more with Taylor Anne... even if he was presented as being younger, his parents don't come across as that overbearing. But I guess some kids are like that? Idk I always had a pretty good relationship with mine, so I probably just don't relate.

I'm feeling a little torn on the whole Cyber Studio now. As a kid I got to be present for a couple meetings this art guild had when they purchased an old abandoned factory, which has since been remodeled into studio, gallery, and class/presentation space. And I think that's pretty damn cool so why would an artist not want it??? But the studios also aren't cheap and there's a waitlist to get in. So now hearing more of the side that these kids may be too poor to even afford to use the Cyber Studio, which hadn't crossed my mind, and thinking back that the art place I know was purchased in a poorer area... I'm starting to understand why Benny's past buddies may not be so excited about his dream space. Plus displacing a bunch of homeless people is pretty crummy.

That visual makes everything better lmao I hope Cyber Studio is exactly Entertainment 720. He could also idk repurpose another building. Might as well work with the crappy apartments you already own before putting more on your plate.

On this note, I don't think I ever understood what a cyber studio was supposed to be. Or why Benny had to buy a whole neighborhood and kick people out to make it.

I think it's like it broke reality and showed us more than what the real world could show. So that was a really fun scene, and I also wish it was used more. Compared to "I should tell you", which neither showed or told us anything lol

Also how the heck did Tom rewire the ATM to give out free money upon using the code A-N-G-E-L? I mean it's been a while since I've used an ATM, but I thought they only had number pads?

I had trouble getting Roger. Like I get the initial "I like you, but I moved away from that lifestyle so stay away from me" but he seemed to flip flop so often I kinda stopped caring. He had pretty hair though. Also what kind of guitar did he have that he could buy a car after selling it? I'll admit we were working on a jigsaw puzzle while watching this, so I may have missed some stuff. Please feel free to correct me if I error.

I have not watched the stage version. But the movie made me very frustrated at times. As far as the music, Seasons of Love was fine, and I like Tango: Maureen and I'll Cover You. I absolutely hated I Should Tell You. I really liked Tom and Angel. They were way more interesting to me than the other couples. Joanne and Maureen made me especially angry that Joanne even accepted the proposal pff Can I say coming into the movie knowing nothing about it and seeing it set up on Christmas, for a while I thought maybe Angel would be a real angel? But then she kills the dog, so lol I'm gonna pull a Jason and say that everything after Mark hits his head during the tango is a Jacob's Ladder scenario.

The best thing was, just before I called I was telling my roommate how when I'm on the phone with both my parents at the same time, my dad usually just listens in. But when I brought up the musical discussion, he dominated the conversation for a bit. I was surprised. They had also just gotten home from seeing Pippin, so I think that helped their excitement.- 143 replies

What, I see my name being mentioned, but I've been away what's going on lol Trying to find where I can find a copy of Rent to watch sometime this weekend. Hmm... I had a nice little discussion with my parents about musicals the other day or so and found out my mom's best friend likes Rent apparently. I wasn't aiming for HDTGM-worthy, byt I did promise regret lol I was more thinking of the criteria of the characters singing. I mean, they do sing, but some of it is the songs over footage, rather than onscreen singing. That's what is throwing me off.
