  1. I can't keep up on the Shakespeare stuff, though I do like Shakespeare in general. Taming of the Shrew was my favorite in high school. I do have this neat book called "Shakespeare in the Movies" that I picked up sometime in college, which of course is outdated now, but it was a pretty fun read comparing the different cinematic releases at that time. I need to look over it again some day. It's been ages. Also Hot Fuzz is great!

Episode 157 - Surf Ninjas: LIVE!

It'd be interesting if there were some in depth reviews from Japan. There is one customer review for the movie on Amazon Japan that I found. One star of course. It pretty much is what's to be expected after Cam Bert's movie title origin story. I tried my hand at a rough translation. Cam Bert, please correct me as needed.

Man, that must have just been packaged disappointment. How would you translate the γ€Œζˆ‘θΌ©γ«ζ•΅γ―γͺγ„οΌγ¦γ‹ο½žγ€ at the top? (I'm hoping I typed it correctly)

Episode 157 - Surf Ninjas: LIVE!

GUYS I finally finished the Surf Ninjas pic I wanted to do! IDK his outfit style just reminded me a bit of Snake Plissken and I got a little excited?? Btw I got the pose reference from this martial arts book I bought a good few years ago that I forgot about until recently and the title killed me

Episode 157 - Surf Ninjas: LIVE!

I wonder if it'd be compatible to trying to be cool by using an out of date meme? Very nostagia. Much surf. Tbh I don't remember the song seeming out of place when I first saw the movie, but then again my parents had me listen to a lot of oldies music, so...
  7. But I don't own any French girls. Got a cat tho
  8. I'm not sure I'm ready for these expectations lol

Episode 157 - Surf Ninjas: LIVE!

Wait, what?? Nielsen's character isn't tyrannical enough?? The torture chamber and threatening his right-hand man with an electric knife doesn't do it for you? The fact that he had the king and queen killed? That he had "ninjas" trying to KILL children?? And probably tortured their kidnapped father?? That he had a village burned?? A chain gang of innocent villagers doing manual labor?? Acting like he was unarmed to make Johnny drop his sword and then attacking him with a mechanical arm?? Johnny should pull him out of the water and then push him in again tbqh. Srsly with that opening sentence I thought this complaint was gonna be about casting Nielsen as a character who should BE Asian, not... this shallow critique. Gtfo, TV Guide and learn to format your site so it doesn't cut sentences in weird places. (β”›ΰ² Π”ΰ² )┛彑┻━┻ I'm okay. It's been a long day. I'm not that angry. (β˜žοΏ£β€ΏοΏ£)☞ Electrocution = SHOCKING moral lapse

  14. Okay, I fixed up the text. It should be legible when reduced to icon size. And it's not my dumb handwriting.
  15. oh my god I wonder if I should redo the text so it's legible at icon size. Maybe after I nap.
  16. GDI HOW DID YOU KNOW This is the first thing I did after getting home from work

BTW, the review for "Surf Ninjas: A Novel" is pretty amusing. I'm surprised they only gave it 3 stars, with how they sound like they're trying to sell it.
  18. Yeah, I want translation notes!
  19. If I ever sounded like that, I'd probably punch myself lol But seriously, thank you very much!

It was a pun. The monk's name was Baba Ram, so Johnny cleverly turned "Barbara Ann" into "Baba Ram" for his welcoming presentation.

Episode 157 - Surf Ninjas: LIVE!

Okay, I have some questions I want to address. First, how did Colonel Chi learn where the princes had been living? Or that those were the correct boys to go after? Someone must have let that slip, right? Second, how did Zatch know that the princes had been discovered and were in danger? Or had he always been watching them? But when he meets with Mac at the diner, they react like they haven't seen each other for a long time. How did Zatch know where to find them? What if Zatch and Mac kept in contact via mail and Colonel Chi somehow intercepted one of their letters? So therefore it's actually their fault that the princes were found. What if they sent a letter TO Colonel Chi so that the destiny stuff could be fulfilled?? WHAT IF????
  22. Nnnnooooooooo?? Thank you ;_; You guys are the awesome ones.
  23. I do but I'm embarrassed.
  24. I want to know how that goes!! Have fun!! Also, completely off topic, but tomspanks, I was browsing my old art on my computer and found a drawing that made me think of you lol

Episode 157 - Surf Ninjas: LIVE!

I think this is the best movie I've ever seen. Psyche! Oh man, as I was watching this movie, only two things came back from the depths of my memory: 1. Johnny doing the "Baba Ram" song and 2. That underling who had to fall down the steps three times for a running gag. These were the only moments my young mind seemed to deem as important enough to store away in my memory warehouse. The only thing I sincerely enjoyed about the movie was the traditional Thai clothing. They have some beautiful outfits, especially in the end scene. But yeah, not enough ninja for a movie called Surf Ninjas. Well, not really any ninja at all. Any ninja worth their salt wouldn't be trying to "sneak" around in broad daylight like these guys did at the start of the movie. My guess is Colonel Chi is just some Japanese-fanatic who thinks he knows a thing or two about ninja and samurai warriors and decided that's good enough to make a move to take over this Patu San nation for no reason. Seriously he needs some sort of background story to set up his motivation. I want to reply to some comments too.. let's see... There's no way they wouldn't have boats. If they're an island, I'd expect them to have some sort of fishing traditions. But as for the size of the trees, you can make canoes out of smaller timber. Some Native American tribes would make canoes out of the bark from birch trees, which are tall and skinny. But whatever the source of the wood, it's not ever gonna be a 1 day project. Honestly, my question during this whole scene, especially with how slow and obvious this mass of people on surfboards are traveling... Why did Nielson's army not have any lookouts?? Like they had no posts with gunners or ANYTHING. Who would be that confident that no one unwanted might visit their hideout?? Maybe surviving an elephant stomping gave him way too much confidence!! I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess Johnny didn't give the cop the keys because he might have eaten them. Also... CHOPPING MALL OH MY GOD I JUST WATCHED THAT RECENTLY I'll admit it's a bit slow, but I had a good few laughs, I'd probably watch it again. Good old American mall culture up the wazoo.
